✨ SIDE NOTE: As per my last review, if only I could get you ladies to feel this leather. First off, it’s softer than my authentic 2018 Mini Square (I believe the last time the 17cm Classic flaps were made in classic caviar leather). I had a 187 Classic flap in Beige Clair that I ended up selling to my cousin because the leather was a bit stiffer than my authentic, I am a sucker for softer, higher tier leather.

I asked Karen that since I had not seen any pics of his new source, if I didn’t like his PSPs, I could switch or get a refund, and he agreed. I have dealt with Karen a few times before and I know he’s good for his word when refunding. This is why I decided to try the out and take the risk. Really pleased I did.

As I want to contribute to this amazing community, I felt posting a review of my first rep purchased directly from a seller would be a good thing to do. With all the concerns about 187 lately, I thought I’d add my two cents. So first off, I want to say, that I never thought I‘d get to the point of purchasing rep items, and all I ever associated with reps were all the obvious ‚Choco Chenal‘ and ‚Cucci‘ items you can get on the beach during vacation lol. I was proven wrong I guess, and am forever grateful for discovering this sub!

Backstory:

I have always been interested in pricey bags; I just recently found a picture of a classic flap I saved back in 2007 when I was only 14 years old. Basically a life-long love story lol. I initially planned to finally fulfill my dream, and buy my own CF this summer; I got a second hand vintage Chanel trapezoid bag (luckily extremely cheap), but that just didn’t do the trick for me - it had to be the classic flap. The time I went to the boutique, I had already been a member of RL for about 2 months and was aware of how well-made reps can be, and how to thoroughly QC bags, auths included. So when the SA handed me an M/L caviar CF I was like… „Uhm, wayment… that’s it?“ To say I was was underwhelmed is an understatement. I heard of their quality declining, but I didn’t think it was that bad. The bag I was holding felt light and flimsy, pasticky, had no sheen, and the grommets didn’t look gold, they looked like some kind of oxidized metal. I asked for another bag. Quelle surprise, it looked the same. I could slowly feel the bubble I have been living in the past years burst. „That’s the bag I wanted for so long?“ - I chuckled and looked at my boyfriend. He was giving me that nervous „Please, don’t be stupid and buy this item“ look. I knew immediately that he was as disappointed as I was. We kindly thanked the SA for her services and left the shop. I realized quite quickly that, for myself, these bags are not worth the money, and that I had to look for an alternative. So as a long-time lurker (joined approx. 8 months ago), I got myself together after learning a lot about the world of reps, and went for an 187 bag as my first purchase ever. Hi guys! I wanted to share this reference post for anyone interested in purchasing a Chanel Classic Flap 25cm from 187 Factory (King version).

I purchased this bag from TS Heidi for USD.620 including shipment.

When I first received this bag I was blown away by the quality and attention to details,

The only major difference I saw was the chains, 187 chains are thicker and heavier, the auth chains have thinner leather, lighter chains and they glide smoothly. That’s the only issue I found in this bag, everything else is almost 1:1.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Hi, new to repladies but certainly not to reps! I’m more of an Instagram buyer but stumbled into this sub during a google search (gotta love Google), and am so glad I did! This bag is the second purchase I did with this seller, first time around I wasn’t aware of PSPs (didn’t realize I could ask for them until I learned about them in this reddit group!). I also loved watching this video for mod shots, the adjustable pearl ball, what to do with the damn long strap when you shorten the chain, etc. She even compares it to her Classic mini flap (non pearl crush), which is a bonus if you like the idea of having an adjustable feature for a Chanel bag!

Quality -10/10

Besides this bag, I also have another Chanel Classic Flap in Caviar from Xiao C and I have to say I felt that this bag just felt like it was higher quality the moment I felt it. It would be quite unfair to compare the quality of the leather since both are very different but the chains make the biggest difference. Xiao C’s was squeaky and felt plasticky whereas 187’s felt luxe.

Accuracy -8.5/10

Disclaimer: I don’t have the best eye for detail and I was the kind of person who assumed that everyone was carrying Auth before discovering this forum so I really am quite oblivious to discrepancies in accuracy!

Thankfully, I have felt my friend’s lambskin Classic Flap in person and took some photos so that I can do a comparison for this QC.

-0.5: the tongue!!! This is something that has been lamented over and over again on the forum so I had to see for myself if it was true and sigh indeed, the tongue on my friend’s CF was slightly more tapered towards the end whereas on the 187, it was consistently fat.

-0.25: The turnlock on the 187 was about 1-2cm lower than on the auth.

-0.25(?): Not sure if I am seeing things but this part (https://imgur.com/a/iD2WoWJ) seems to be slightly lower than that on my friend’s CF. It’s about a 2-3cm difference. Honestly, it’s quite hard to tell cause I am basing it off photos and it could have been due to the angle I was holding hers.

-0.5: There is a microchip on the interior and I understand from reading past reviews that the 21P should not come with a microchip.

Quality: 9.6 9.3/10

• Packaging: When I purchase bags, I don’t expect full packaging at all and even when it is included, it is usually indented and beaten up by the shipping company. Luckily, the box was in perfect condition 😍. Heidi includes these black plastic corner protectors that are genius. I wish other sellers would do this. However, my previous purchase of a Prada bag did not come with them. That box arrived damaged but the purse was fine.

• Leather: After taking the bag out of the packaging, I noticed that the leather was extremely dry I included a before and after photos but you can’t really tell the difference in photos, but it definitely feels different!

So my BF purchased this for me after I had lost a lot of my designer bags (covered in my Birkin 25 review post). I had free reign in terms of the bag, colour etc - he was just happy to fund it for me. I got myself a keeper 😊

Quality - 8.5/10

What I love:

• The colour is divine. I’m not too sure if it is 100% accurate because reference photos online change with lighting. But I am very happy with it. It doesn't lean too much to a baby pink and has lilac undertones.
• Weight of the chain is substantial and seems similar to the bag I once had.
• Caviar looks and feels good. I wasn’t fussy about large or small caviar grains (had no idea that was a thing until joining the forum).
• Colour of the hardware. I’m not a huge GHW gal and prefer SHW. But the LGHW is a beautiful compromise for me.

What I don’t love:

• Quality of the LGHW isn’t great. I knew this beforehand and issues with chipping but didn’t realise it would happen so quickly. I haven’t used the bag yet as I wanted to buy hardware protectors to prevent the chances of this happening. I’ve only tried it on at home so have twisted the turn lock a handful of times. I finally received my hardware protectors and noticed it was chipped in 4 spots! Now it isn’t noticeable unless someone is really inspecting it but it still does annoy me. It’ll be a bag I have to baby I hoped wouldn’t be the case. I acknowledge my part in taking the risk. (-0.5)

Quality - 10/10 This is my first review, so bear with me. I love Chanel. The look is so classic to me. My mom has wanted a classic flap all her life, so this is a gift for her.

Bag is very structured and sturdy. Very well constructed and seems like it will hold up to daily wear. Will definitely use Bick 4 for protection and conditioning

The leather is so soft and buttery. Felt just like the auth. No fufu smell just lovely leather luxury.

No tarnishing on the hardware, the zipper opens smoothly, and no squeaking with the turn lock.

The inside flaps are all even and no bubbles.

The chain my mom has not unwrapped yet so I'm unsure about any squeaking, but I was able to feel felt heavy and luxe.

The stamping looks crisp and clear. Theres also no chip but an authenticity card

Accuracy- 9.5/10

Hardware is silver so not as much nuance as the gold and is perfect

The flap is even and the shape of the tongue is correct.

Having handled the auth and seeing the different variations honestly I don't see any major flaws.

Alignment and number of stitches is accurate.

The stamping isn't too deep and font is accurate. I was most worried about the tongue shape since that has been the feedback on most of the CFs but really no need to worry.

08/30/21 – Two days later, Heidi sent the PSP and I GLed the bag (there was a minor issue that did not show up in the PSP, as discussed below). Heidi shipped immediately and provided tracking info.

09/9/21 – I believe the bag arrived on this date. I don’t have a record of the exact date because several packages arrived around this time, and I mixed them up. Overall, the entire transaction was very prompt.
