Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III wrote a letter in late March complaining to Attorney General William P. Barr that a four-page memo to Congress describing the principal conclusions of the investigation into President Trump βdid not fully capture the context, nature, and substanceβ of Muellerβs work, according to a copy of the letter reviewed Tuesday by The Washington Post.

Dr. Lyson broke the discovery wide open by following his curiosity and cracking open one of the many white rocks (called concretions) at the Corral Bluffs site, revealing an entire mammal skull from the period just after the asteroid impact that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. This discovery, which paints a picture of the million years following the asteroid impact that killed the non-avian dinosaurs, was covered by the New York Times, Washington Post, Reuters, Science Magazine, and PBSβ NOVA, including in its new documentary, βRise of the Mammals.β Ask me anything about the K-T boundary, vertebrate fossils, the emergence of the world after the extinction of the dinosaurs, and being featured in βRise of the Mammals.β
Dr. Ian Miller, Denver Museum of Nature & Science Earth Sciences Department chair and curator of paleobotany, co-led the research team and spearheaded the collection of fossil plants from the Corral Bluffs area, along with the analysis of more than 6,000 specimens to determine the relationship between plant and animal diversity in the years immediately following the asteroid impact. Partially Iβm wondering the physical aspect of how they fit in these places or get close enough to dangerous situations to film them; and partially Iβm wondering how they seem to be in the right place at the right time to catch things like a dead whale sinking down into the ocean?
What are the odds theyβd be there to capture that and how much time do they spend waiting for these types of things?
Not sure I can really describe it. but when I hear it, I feel like I've just arrived back to the mundane, predictable, nostalgic existence of home. It's soothing.

Iβve been recording field audio for NPR since 2004, and many of the techniques Iβve used to tell stories on the radio are implemented at the Tiny Desk. From the iconic stereo mid/side shotgun microphone to spaced omni-directional mics above the audience, the DNA of NPR is what makes Tiny Desk recordings so distinct. Iβll answer any questions about the live set-up, post-production and mixing processes. Come with your questions about any specific episode recorded after July, 2015, when I took over as audio engineer for Tiny Desk from my mentor, Kevin Wait.
Iβll start answering questions at 2PM Eastern. You can follow me on Twitter and Instagram.
