A list of puns related to "COGnitive Gaming"
I have read some things (including studies) suggesting cognitive benefits from gaming but is that really true?
https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.01226/full
But i have not looked to much into the research, anything i am missing here?
So i have noticed that video games tends to be really massive especially since the PS5 is also just around the corner, so what they seem to do with these massive worlds and mechanics is that they make it so that every gamer no matter the functions will enjoy it.
You notice that in these games there is elements like:
External systems to complete challenges and to get rewards. (Te)
Forming bonds with people around the world and seeing the progress of these relationships. (Fe)
Creating your own character and building a new identity that will develop as it meets the hardships of this world. (Fi)
New mechanics, gear and systems that keep this world going. Challenges that require knowledge of this world and how to hack it. A chance at mastering the game. (Ti)
Beautiful surroundings filled with new sounds, sights. Abundance of action and tension that will keep the game flowing as you go on many adventures exploring the beauty of this new world. (Se)
World with new ideas and mechanics that are bound to get you curious and wanting to find out about the game, exploring it always hungry for something new. (Ne)
A world with a long history full of traditions and behaviours that will make you want to see how time will affect this world and how you can learn to become one with it through repeated actions. (Si)
Looking for potential everywhere and a plot that makes you strive to achieve a goal in an open ended manner. Also allows your mind to open to new abstract concepts and to see if your theories hold up in this world. (Ni)
Let me know your thoughts on this as i would really like to expand on this and would also love to know what your type is and ur experiences with video games
So i would like to know what genre is bound to catch the attention of each function and what would their playstyles be. In this post u can inject ur personal experiences along with your type or maybe try to guess what it could be

I would post this to Smash Heroes and other reddits but im angry and lazy atm, working on business policy for managers that are failing.
Long time reader of r/smite, 2nd or 3rd time posting! Wanted to start off by saying hello everyone!
I've been reading a lot of mixed feelings on multiple teams at COG worlds, which is totally cool. I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? But, I wanted to say just a couple things on that subject. When I picked up PRIME and RED they weren't the COG teams you see in front of you now or even top 4 quality. It took a lot of hard work, practice and hours into both of these teams to make them the players they are today. We studied every team, tried new things constantly and honestly grinded our lives away. PRIME and Red have a strict practice schedule 5-6 days a week 3-6 hours a day, on top of their streaming lives and casual practicing. We watched VODs from SPL week 1 up to the NA Regional matches. I personally wrote down every single thing including, ward placement for the first 10 mins for each team, rotations/habits on junglers for each team, when each team grouped, their top 3 picks in every role with their KDA/GPM, timers on when junglers ganked and opportunities when we could put pressure on certain lanes to either invade or get objective control, on top of the most recent gods they've been playing and what they are comfortable with. We adjusted our picks and bans strats around that. We don't go out drinking or partying. We stay in and study VODs and talk strategy. Yeah it's a grind and yeah sometimes not going out and hanging out with everyone sucks, but the reward is worth it.
So when you say we don't deserve our spots at WORLDs or it's stupid that there are multiple COG teams. Just remember that these guys busted their butts, we all did. And they deserve it. I'm proud of all my boys and I'm hoping to see other teams and coaches step it up and bring it to the next level. We owe it to the fans and to the SMITE community.
Whether you want COG to win or another team, just remember we all worked hard and you shouldn't take that away from anyone. If you're not supporting COG, at least support SMITE and it's community and all the hard work.
I'm sure there are plenty typos, but I just had to get that off my chest. Have an opinion, but respect the hard work. Love all you guys, thanks for all your support with COG and SMITE. -Mattypocket
I'm currently playing through Final Fantasy X HD and I have severely abused the turbo button along the way. There are other things like invincibility mode and perpetually charged overdrive gauges, but I observe those as rote cheating. But for whatever reason I have rationalized the turbo button as "not cheating" because I view it as a compression of actions I would take anyway, and that the only difference is my willingness to grind for things is smaller in FFX. This is because a lot of random encounters are extremely tanky and protracted as a result.
The other element of this, is that every boss is basically an HP sponge and can be broken down into two steps:
1.) Find the loop the boss takes.
2.) Abuse the loop.
For example, against Seymour Flux the loop is Bio>>>Defensive buffs>Defend>Heal>Reapply Buffs>defend>heal.
Other examples in include:
Defender X: Provoke Defender X> Heal Provoker>Heal Provoker etc.
Sanctuary keeper: Separate the Provoker> Provoke> Heal Provoker>Watch for mines.
Because once you solve the loop its only a matter of time, I feel personally fine with using the turbo button when in 99% of other circumstances I wouldn't. Obviously this is cognitive dissonance.
Just curious to see what other games/tasks people feel differently about.

COGnitive Gaming is happy to announce our involvement with the NACL (also known as the salt league) tournament series. The NACL tournament series is currently only available to the North American SMITE circuit. Teams participating in the tournaments not only have a chance to win prize pools, but they also receive pay just for participating in the circuit.
The NACL averages 25,000 viewers for the LoL pro circuit, involving some of the most recognized professional organizations in League of Legends.
We are hoping to reach out to other MOBA players, by joining up with the NACL, showing them what a great community and game can be found in Smite.
Teams will have a chance at a ten thousand dollar prize pool as well as participation fees. As a partner in the Salt League, we hope to promote it as an eSports competitive circuit and to grow eSports as a whole. Our partnerships with all the games that we wish to branch out with are and remain successful. We bring our fans eSports professionalism and branding and, hopefully, our players some decent income.
The finer details are still being ironed out, but we look forward to our new branch of competitive eSports. Be sure to watch the NaCl channel tonight for the official announcement. Which can be found at http://www.twitch.tv/naclesports
COGnitive Gaming has also undergone several roster changes in the last month. We had high hopes for our original roster of Allied, Shing, Omega, Stealth, Kaeyoh. We were all really close and had some good times at lans and hanging out, but the benching of Kaeyoh, Allied switching roles, Stealth being kicked off and Omega quitting (then both joining XTS), followed by Allied benching himself and quitting Smite every other day was just too much for the group to handle. COGnitive decided to give Shing a couple of months to figure out the team and do what he could to try and save the roster. He went through 10 players in a month and worked hard, but Shing just couldn't get something going with a solid 5 man roster.
We were stuck making a decision to continue trying players we donβt really know or go back to two of our original members from COGnitive NA, Omega and Stealth along with Barrapocket, Daretofeed and tiny muscles Andi. After this week we made the difficult decision to go back with more of our original members. The group has shown how well they work and practice together, winning 2 weeklies in a row.
We love Shing and appreciate his hard work and dedication to COGnitive G

It's easy to understand why gaming isn't good for bodily health, it's a completely sedentary activity normally, I believe gaming addiction is even worse for our cognitive abilities. Hardcore gamers know that some games are quite complex and require strong analytical and memorization skills to master, so why are all games bad for the brain?
The danger comes from 3 factors in gaming that run contrary to reality.
There are no permanent consequences in games, the decisions are ultimately irrelevant you can fail as many times as needed. In REAL LIFE you must take your actions SERIOUSLY and often don't get second chances, games erode our ability to deal with serious decisions where there aren't second chances. A person who is acclimated to real life will prepare as much as possible for key trials or tests due to the fact they are acclimated to not getting second chances.
Results are predictable and can be determined exactly. Even in games with randomization the stakes and probability can be understood. Games offer Guaranteed Results when you have knowledge of the game systems. Real Life is often about manipulating your odds and doing whatever you can to increase your chances at success, there are no guarantees or easily predictable probabilities. A person who is acclimated to Real Life understand the importance of maintaining their appearance and hygiene because even though these efforts DON'T guarantee anything they do improve the odds of earning friendships and respect.
Overstimulation. Gamers are constantly making decisions, games are designed to not be boring and always have the player holding the reigns of some sort of decision making. The average person often must endure long periods of maintaining positive patterns of behavior and boring chores in between important decisions. Being easily bored and distracted is a weakness in real life, where patience and sustained attention are keys to success.
These observations may seem obvious but I was hit with the absolute worst effects of the dawn of gaming and internet. I was born in 1991 in a broken home with inadequate parental involvement, but my father made enough money to buy games and computers for me. I grew up neglecting many real life skills due to the constant innovation of gaming and computers keeping me perpetually distracted. Constant gaming will mess up a young person's ability to transition to functional adulthood, there's no doubt in my mind about that.
