A list of puns related to "Bylaw (EP)"
I didn't put 'Waiting for Tomorrow' because i know most people likes song with vocals and the song itself is very damn good. Just assume that it's the #1 in this EP. So what is the #2 track? ππ»Vote hereππ»
Transferring money from citizens to corporate wallets is something I think we can all get behind putting a stop to.
This smells of an idea gone wrong, while in principle it sounds good, in practice we are just giving money to corporations. It's another form of "trickle down economics".
With the gap between rich and poor already F'd in this city, how is this tax palatable ?
How would we get it repealed? What numbers would we need?
I forgot my lunch this morning when I was getting my car ready because of all the snow. Fast forward to lunch time and I made the drive of shame to the closest McDonalds drive-through for a meal.
After placing my order I was told if I want a paper bag it would be $0.25!!! Yes a paper bag that should only take a few weeks to decompose costs a quarter of a dollar now. Yet they still serve with plastic lids and plastic cups...
Look, I understand the necessity of reducing plastic bags and single-use items ending up in our landfills and on the streets. I will always side with the planet when it comes to this but simply making the customer pay so they can ruin this planet some more is just worse than doing nothing. I would understand if it was just a $0.05 recycling fee if your order if you have plastic items but this $0.25 blanket fee for a 'paper bag' its a pile of sasquatch shit.
I have a feeling this new bylaw will have the same effect as the current Carbon Tax. People will just pay the money and our planet will never get better. We should have banned non-decomposable single-use items entirely but this is what we get instead.
I'm sorry for the rant everyone but I just had to get my word out there...
Why is this city so unaware of everything???
Alrighty now for a shred of context. I 22F live in a top floor apartment with 24M and 25M. I just moved in and Iβm starting to learn just how bad the relationship is with our downstairs neighbour. Before I moved in they warned me that she was a bit of a Karen and would freak out at them for βstompingβ on the floors. Now in the time Iβve lived here not a single one of us has done that but every morning between 6-7:30am she BLASTS music. Itβs so loud I originally thought it was coming from one of my room mates but no. We have asked her to turn it down in the morning and in turn she has screamed in our faces about how disrespectful we are and that she will not turn it down, we have also gone to our condo board about it and they havenβt done anything either. On the weekends I work night shifts and usually get home around 4-5am and then get woken up an hour later to this. Itβs literally driving me insane and Iβm not sure what to do besides call Bylaw enforcement since youβre not aloud to play music that loud where I live before 8am during the week and 9am on weekends. So would I be the asshole for calling bylaw on my neighbours for playing loud music at 6 in the morning?
Had to call Shaw two weeks ago as our internet was down, turns out the cable had been cut in our alley. Due to the location of the nearest power box the cable had to be run in front of our neighbours back garage. Shaw replaced the cable and that was the end of it. Wednesday afternoon bylaw knocks on the door and tells me that they were the one who cut it and that the line has to be buried, said I had until today to get it done or heβd be back to cut it again and give me a ticket. Had Shaw come in this morning and they said there was nothing they could do, due to the ground being frozen and that if I was given a ticket they would pay it if I couldnβt fight it. Bylaw just came back about 20 minutes ago and cut the line and Iβm not really sure what Iβm supposed to do now. I canβt find anything in the bylaw code about why this isnβt allowed and it seems semi illegal for bylaw to just cut a wire without knowing what itβs for. Feels like Iβm stuck in the middle of a situation with no win. Either I keep having Shaw out to reconnect the cable that will most likely keep being cut or go without internet until it warms up. Any advice would be appreciated!
Hi all! I canβt believe itβs 2022 and I still have to enforce wearing a mask in my workplace. I will look up the law on the Toronto website but figured I may get a quicker response here. I work for a company that has a showroom where the public can come in to browse products. Anyway, I just had a woman who came into my showroom and refused to wear a mask and then refused to leave because she has a βmedical exemption.β Now I fucking hate this reason because I canβt ask you to prove it and Iβm sure youβre just an anti masker. My boss and I were chatting after and weβre trying to figure out what the law exactly is. To my knowledge, I can ask her to leave, refuse service or I can call police. But if Iβm wrong, please let me know. Happy Monday Toronto!
Update: Thank you everyone for clearing this issue up. I double checked the Toronto website and from what I was able to get, businesses have a right to make their own policy. So, fuck these anti maskers. Iβm completely sympathetic to those who legit canβt wear masks. But if thatβs the case, Iβm sure you wouldnβt be a complete bitch to those working at that establishmentβ¦ well I hope. This lady was a pretentious bitch who had a full face of makeup on and you can tell she didnβt wanna ruin her face (I work in the beauty industry lol) Anyway, thank you for coming to my Ted talk haha

(Mine is Waiting for Tomorrow)
We got a new neighbor a while back and this dude is running a fucking limo company out of his house. Like I've been blocked coming home because he parked a stretch limo in a do not park zone and clogged a narrow street with his and his employees' cars. And have cars coming until 3 AM. Now the worst part is, is that the limos take up his garage so he parks his cars right up against the curb causing a blind spot and making it extremely dangerous to turn into and turn out of our street (we live in a cul-de-sac). So every time I see him park against the edge I immediately call city bylaw and get him ticketed.
My dad says I'm being over the top by constantly reporting him to the city but I think he's being dangerous and a selfish dick.
AITA?
EDIT: To the people asking if I talked to him first. The answer is no. My logic is that-
a) you should not be running a business out of your own garage using the entire street as your garage to change drivers and store your SUV stretch limos b) when it says don't park- sign's there for a reason. the street is narrow and leaving the engine running with the hazards on is not a way to outwit the don't park sign. c) lastly, and this is the most important, your personal SUV and stretch limo SUV are violating a law that every teenager is taught when they're sixteen. I find it near impossible that a grown, middle aged man does not know that you should not park right up against a street corner, if not because of the law but because of common sense. It obscures sight lines and presents a risk of hitting some stuck to the small stretch of street left. I have almost got into so many accidents because I can't see around the corner. There are children running around the neighborhood and could be hiding among your limos. if nobody can see when they turn in or out and there are kids just around the corner... also, intermittently blocking the street with your "clever" cheat the down park sign trick blocks fire trucks and ambulances. one of our neighbors is in her late 80's. if she needs an ambulance and you're blocking the road..
I do not see why I need to talk to him. But to top things off, I have tried talking to him on a friendly term when he moved in (and before we all found out he was a colossal dick) and he ignored me completely. And that is trying to be FRIENDLY.
tl;dr- grown ass man should know that parking up against the street corner is dangerous for everybody and blocking the road is as well.
A few people recently bought in our neighborhood and a started renting their basement apartments to what looks like 4-5 families. At least 20 different people must be in those suites. We donβt like to be nosy neighbours, but it has been incredibly disruptive. Are there bylaws that are being violated here and can this be reported to the city? Thank you.
I'm posting this mostly to vent, I'm sure many of us have been in this situation.
Long story short my house and my neighbour's are attached. During the day I don't really care, the bylaw here is 9pm for noise. What I can tell you is regardless of the time of day, I am very respectful about the noise I make...which I know is close to none.
Let me be clear again, I am not oblivious to the fact that we are going to hear noise from them and vice versa in a semi detached. The problem isn't just random noise, this is a DAILY issue, after I go to bed due to my work schedule, but the bylaws are what they are for a reason.
These 2 let their kids run around, slamming doors, etc whenever they want and never do anything to stop it. Again, during the day, not a big deal...
For me, I just started a new job, I'm up at 4:45am to get ready for work...
My other half went over there one day just to explain to them how we can hear all the stomping, etc and the woman and husband basically told her to f-ck off. The mother also stated that she will not be telling her kids to stop the stomping and what not at night and that "we don't know what it's like because we don't have kids"
So maybe it was an asshole thing to do but I couldn't take it anymore and took a board and a hammer to the floor and smashed on it a few times, just to show that if you can hear this we can hear you.
Guy came over, called me and asshole and asked if he expects me to strap his kids down. I said no, just have respect and understand it's 11:30pm at night to which he said it's vacation for the kids.... I couldn't care less if they're on vacation, teach your kids to have respect. The world doesn't revolve around your lives.
All the while the wife was screaming at me from her front door about how I'm being an asshole.
I ended that with "im trying to be neighbourly with you, you now know you can hear noise quite well from my side, so that means I can hear it from yours, I don't care if you don't want to teach your kids properly and I don't really care if I dont know what it's like to have kids either. My job and me paying my mortgage and keeping a roof over my head is what is important to me, so if this continues I'll just call bylaw and you'll have to deal with them."
In the end I hope we can all get along.... I don't think I see it happening though. The mother said she won't stop the kids from being loud and that I'll just have to live with the fact that they have kids...
I bought a hous
... keep reading on reddit β‘Sorry for the long title.
First off, I'm not "doxing" Mrs. Bright, as she revealed her identity in a post on the previously deleted thread by saying who her husband was (Ben Pressman) and listing her email.
I originally read her post and was sympathetic, however after it being pointed out by another person here that the bylaws of her newly formed community nonprofit were essentially just the same master with different clothes, still declaring to "propagate, support," etc. the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa and Sakyong Mipham... it appears she realized she wasn't going to get the support she wanted.
In my opinion, she's still clearly in the cult, but just wanted to distance herself from the scandal and finagle ownership away from the cult, while still perpetuating it.
The brainwashing runs deep with these people.
So there has been a vehicle parked outside of my house for almost 3 weeks. No one on our block knows the car and it has front bumper damage. We called bylaw many many times to have someone tow it they said they would look into it. After giving this car 5 parking tickets and nothing more they finally put a tow notice on it about 5 days ago. Still didnβt tow it. Finally after the overnight parking ban our neighbour was in contact with the police and they have confirmed it is a stolen vehicle.
I have had my fair share of bylaw being useless moments but this one takes the cake. I donβt understand how they didnβt have a system to flag the plate from the very start. I hope whoever the vehicle was stolen from gets it back!
Been away from uspsa for a little bit , but it's hard to avoid the drama online. Though I'm finding it hard to sort through the mess and figure out why everyone is so pissed off ?
Anybody care to give me the short version?
Ty!
Hello folks. I am looking to know people's experience accessing the City Parking Enforcement 24/7 Dispatch. Specifically, how do they respond to calls regarding cars parked in fire lanes such as the one behind a townhouse condo garage?
Our issue is pesky neighbors who feel the shared space behind their garage door and opposite our garage door is their personal third parking space. It causes issues getting in and out of our garage. It's also a city bylaw and condo bylaw violation.
I have seen city enforcement ticketing vehicles in our alley before, although it is extremely rare. I know it is within their jurisdiction, but I am fairly certain there is no regular patrol.
Thank you for any helpful input you might have.
I would change the rules around what constitutes a meeting and a quorum. I would change rules around elections. As none of us is as smart as all of us, I wondered what changes you would like to see.
Reminder that the parking bylaw starts tonight.
Also a reminder to start badgering the city to change the bylaw so we only have to park off the roads according to weather forecasts
