Brennan Brown is great in this show!

This guy's acting and overall screen presence is just fantastic. I can't believe he hasn't been in more productions.

MORE BY THE AUTHOR

Dandelion

Amber Houston was born light-years from Earth, aboard the enormous colony starship Dandelion. By the age of fourteen, she has spent her entire life training as a "Ranger," ready for the day when she will be among the first humans ever to set foot on an alien world & build a new civilization.

When Dandelion suffers an emergency toward the end of its journey, Amber & her fellow young rangers are evacuated & land on the planet Newhome years ahead of schedule. While the adults left behind on Dandelion slow the ship & turn it around to come back---in eight years---Amber & her friends must build lives for themselves amid revelations that will change Humankind's destiny forever.

Meanwhile, aboard the ship, secrets that were buried over three hundred years ago finally come to light...

Co-authored alongside Justin C. Louis, Dandelion is my debut novel, and you can download the Audiobook edition from Audible, or buy it in hardcover, paperback or ebook through any major literary retailer.

##What you are about to read...

...is chapter 83 of an ongoing story, the writing of which is funded by the kind donations of my patrons and subscribers! If you enjoy this story and think that I deserve something for it (thank you!) then all the details you need to support me are included at the end of each chapter.

This chapter comes in at 43,885 words! And they are, I hope, going to blow your mind.

In this chapter:

The Stray Fortune is back on the fringes of civilized space, investigating the mystery of who shot at them on their last visit, and why.

What they are about to find, however, is nothing short of a legend...

##IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS SERIES...

First of all, welcome! The Deathworlders has been in production now for several years now, and is entering its final arc, but there’s still plenty of story ahead of us, and I’m glad you’re here to join us for it.

While I hope that the story stands well enough on its own, the setting (Also known as “The JVerse”) has often been a collaborative effort, building on the talented ork of other writers who have breathed life and detail into its every corner. Characters, species and concepts have entered this narrative thanks to those other writers, and while I have made every effort to keep the story coherent and readable without requi

Top 116 Tracks of 2021 (imo)

Hope everyone's new year is off to a rad start!

Did this last year on my old account, and it was pretty well received, so I figured I'd follow-up with a best-of-the-year list for 2021. This is not my Spotify most played. I actually personally and carefully curated this list over the past year. Why 116 tracks? Just because I really wanted to ensure sufficient representation of the all the vibes I enjoy, and so I needed a littttllleee more wiggle room than 100 songs. Widdled down as much as I could while still being able to be proud of this list.

I have quite an eclectic taste in music. After being in the scene for over a decade now, I have refined my ear and have truly gotten to the point of #fuckgenres lol. Good music is good music, almost all the subgenres of electronic music have so much to offer.

So to be in this list, there were 2 requirements:

- Released 2021

- Stood above the all other tracks I've heard this year, for one reason or another. Happy to share why I chose a specific track if anyone's interested!

Without any further ado, I present to you the....

Who's your favorite "poor man's version" of famous actors?

I just watched Focus last night and Brennan Brown is a dead-on ringer for Kevin Spacey. He's got the voice and everything down pat. Sad his career didn't take off after Spacey got cancelled.

I also prefer Dennis Quaid, whom most would probably consider a poor man's version of Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell.

Slyger_Woods Pre-CFP Mock Draft

It's bowl season in the college football world, which means the players have put just about as much tape out there as they possibly can. Once that happens it kickstarts my favorite time of the year - mock draft season. Mock drafting against yourself isn't the most accurate way to get an understanding of the consensus so this is going to be much more representative of what I think of these players and not as much what the whole community does. I think doing a mock with some of the regulars of this sub and having a bit more in depth explanation for each pick is something that the community may be able to benefit from. If that's something the people here think sounds like a good idea then it's something I would be happy to set up - but for now let's get into me vs me. I hope I win.

#1.01 Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas

Something I not-so-subtly hinted at in my Meet the WRs post, Treylon Burks sits atop this class as my 1.01. If I find myself here in any of my leagues (which seems likely in a few) then I want Burks because I want someone with the potential to carry me. The other QBs don't project to have overall QB1 upside, and there is no Jonathan Taylor/Ezekiel Elliot level RB prospect. I think the player with the best balance of safety as a prospect and ability to finish the season higher than the rest lies with Treylon Burks. He's my pick and I feel great about it.

I haven't seen a draft with a more wide open 1.01, so if you want your pick of your favorite QB, be it Corral, Howell, Pickett, etc. then go for it. If you want Breece or Spiller, I won't fault you there either. I want Burks.

#1.02 Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State

This is essentially the same argument I just laid out for Burks, I just think if Burks was to land in say New England or LA (and the Chargers decide to move on from Mike Williams) then that would edge out Breece if he were to land in Seattle or Buffalo. Breece certainly has RB1 potential and could even be a perennial top 5-8 running back in the right spot. He has displayed great hands and could prove to be a major PPR threat.

#1.03 Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina

Howell offers the most upside of anyone in this QB class in my eyes and so he is my first QB off the board at this point. There's still questions around the draft capital he might receive, as there is with every QB in this class besi

Some Short Story Thoughts: The Children of Old Leech, ProleSCARYet

This isn’t my first post of this sort, so I don’t have much of an explanation to give this time. I read short story collections and post my thoughts on each individual story. I find it a fun exercise. Hopefully horrorlit doesn’t find it too annoying. Here’s some recent ones I read.

(As a note: this was originally going to be one post covering four short story collections and anthologies, but it got too long for the Reddit character limit. The other post, where I talk about collections by Brian Hodge and Hailey Piper, is right here.)

The Children of Old Leech (Edited by Ross E. Lockhart & Justin Steele)

Laird Barron hardly needs any introduction at this point. He’s one of the best modern cosmic horror authors out there. Although, for anyone here who might be unfamiliar: Barron’s an author who writes gritty, noirish cosmic horror primarily centered around an elder god called Old Leech and an alien species that calls itself its Children that mimic humans to do Spooky Eldritch Shit on Earth. For this anthology, a whole bunch of horror authors got together to write stories in tribute to Laird Barron’s incredible writing. I love Barron and there’s some real big names here, so I’m excited to dig in.

  • “The Harrow” by Gemma Files – A perfect start to the collection, and notable because it’s an Old Leech tale that takes place in Files’ home country of Canada rather than the Pacific Northwest. A woman makes a strange archaeological discovery in her backyard, and as she finds more and more of these artifacts, she gains the attention of forces best left alone. It also focuses on the way that Barron sets up strange stories from his protagonists’ youth that come back in a new light when they start to make contact with cosmic forces. Absolutely incredible.

  • “Pale Apostle” by J.T. Glover & Jesse Bullington – An Old Leech tale set in Seattle’s Chinatown in the early 20th Century. A shopkeeper is given a job by a stranger: she needs to deliver him a package covertly without dealing with couriers. Naturally, things don’t go well. The story blends Chinese traditions with Barron’s cosmic terror stylings really well and ends on a surprisingly upbeat note for an Old Leech story (although it comes with its own horrific implications).

  • “Walpurgisnacht” by Orrin Grey – The attendees of a lavish party held in an old German transmission tower find themselv

50 Nifty Reading Challenge

Hi everybody! So I gave myself a reading challenge based off the 50 states: For each state I'll be reading a work by an author born in said state, a poet (all native Americans poets. I couldn't find poets for a few states tho so I instead went with a native american historical nonfiction for the states I couldn't find), a fiction, a nonfiction, a historical Nonfiction, and a young adult novel. So in total I'll be reading 6 books for each state. It took me a good while to find all the books I wanted for each category but I've finally done it!! I added my list below. It's a long one!

Dimension 20 Tarot Card Deck! [Mild Spoilers]

So, I've always wanted to create my own Tarot Deck, but I could never figure out a theme that didn't already have its own deck or something like it. But then, after binging most of D20, I realized I could make one for this! I'm only working through ideas for the major Tarot at this point, but I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions! Oh, and I haven't seen Crown of Candy, Tiny Heist, or all of Mice & Murder/ Shriek Week

The Fool - Fabian Aramaris Seacaster

The Magician - Pete Conlan

The High Priestess - Kristen Applebees

The Empress - Zelda Donovan

The Emperor - Gorgug Thislespring

The Heirophant - Jawbone

The Lovers - Kristen and Tracker

The Chariot - The Hangman (Making him The Hanged Man felt too obvious)

Strength - Sophia Lee

The Hermit - Kugrash

Wheel Of Fortune - Ally Beardsly

Justice - Riz Gukgak

The Hanged Man - Evan Kelmp

Death - Robert Moses

Temperance - Kingston Brown

The Devil - Fig

The Tower - Null

The Star - Misty Moore (Not sure about this one)

The Moon -

The Sun -

Judgment -

The World - Brennan Lee Mulligan

Also, Three of Swords - Cody 'Night Angel' Walsh

EDIT - Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I loved them all, but I've made my decisions! A special thanks to u/Imakefoodforyou because The Moon is Cody Night Angel Walsh and the Sun is Ricky Matsui!

As for Judgement, I realized it's only fitting for that card to go to The Box of Doom

This is a week of continuing unfinished business.

Government bills on financing nuclear power stations and supporting businesses hit by pandemic-induced rent debt progress towards the end of their Commons journey.

Meatier stuff is happening in the Lords.

They're considering amendments to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, including disregarding convictions and cautions against gay men for former sexual offences that are now legal.

And then Friday brings private members' bills.

Mark Jenkinson kicks off with one extending careers guidance in secondary schools.

MONDAY 10 JANUARY

Nuclear Energy (Financing) Bill - report stage and 3rd reading
Approves a new financing model for building nuclear power stations whereby households pay a small amount each month to fund plants as they're being constructed. By financing nuclear projects upfront, the aim is to make them more attractive to domestic investors and reduce the UK's reliance on funding from overseas groups like the China General Nuclear Power Group. More information here.

TUESDAY 11 JANUARY

Co-Operatives (Employee Company Ownership) Bill
Gives employees the right to buy out all or part of a business at risk of collapsing, and run it as a co-operative. Ten minute rule motion presented by Christina Rees.

WEDNESDAY 12 JANUARY

Digitally Altered Body Images Bill
Requires advertisers, broadcasters and publishers to show a certain logo when images of human bodies or body parts have had their proportions digitally altered. Ten minute rule motion presented by Luke Evans.

Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Bill - report stage and 3rd reading
Enables arbitration to be used to resolve rent disputes between landlords and commercial tenants. Aims to ensure that rent debt that built up because of pandemic closures doesn't force an otherwise viable business to fold.

##What you are about to read...

...is chapter 81 of an ongoing story, the writing of which is funded by the kind donations of my patrons and subscribers! If you enjoy this story and think that I deserve something for it (thank you!) then all the details you need to support me are included at the end of each chapter.

This chapter comes in at 24,906 words! No padding here!

In this chapter:

The Hunters have struck back and wounded the deathworlder allies. Morale wavers, and President Chambliss is faced with a choice---swallow his pride and ask for help, or risk losing everything.

But he is not alone.*

##IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS SERIES...

First of all, welcome! The Deathworlders has been in production now for several years now, and is entering its final arc, but there’s still plenty of story ahead of us, and I’m glad you’re here to join us for it.

While I hope that the story stands well enough on its own, the setting (Also known as “The JVerse”) has often been a collaborative effort, building on the talented work of other writers who have breathed life and detail into its every corner. Characters, species and concepts have entered this narrative thanks to those other writers, and while I have made every effort to keep the story coherent and readable without requiring you to read those o
