Bio booster armor Guyver is my favorite anime and manga, but it's old, unfinished and obscure so unfortunately it has a really small subreddit. It's a little TOO dead around here so I thought I would make a thread that could get as many of us active as possible.
I've seen hundreds of anime. I have about 400 on my mal account but I've deleted a lot of them because I didn't care about them. But whenever I hear the words "anime" or "Manga", Guyver is the first thing I think about. So I thought I'd sit down and try to analyze why I like it so much.
The first reason: Guyver was the first anime that I really enjoyed. I technically watched Speed Racer before but it didn't really click with me. I also watched the kids movie called Little Nemo adventures in Slumberland but that was actually a Japanese adaptation of an American comic. So I've learned that often, the first anime that you watch has a big impression on you as well as affect your experiences of other anime that you watch in the future. I look at Guyver with rose-tinted glasses, but I also respect what it has turned into nowadays. I'll get to that.
The second reason: it's debatable to call Guyver a superhero, but if I could be any superhero I wanted to, I could have any superpower or any magic ability, or wear any suit of armor, etc, it would have to be a Guyver unit. It looks so cool. It's functional. It's very powerful, but it doesn't change the person inside, it's nothing more than armor, weapons, a tool to be used by the user with a specific personality to do things greater than they've ever imagined. Are there drawbacks to the suit? yes. Most notably the fact that the suit becomes your skin so it's not really armor per se. I often have to convince myself when I'm reading the manga, when I see sweat drops on the Guyver's face, that it's his skin even though it looks like a motorcycle helmet.
The third reason: the fact that even though the Guyver is so powerful and has so many different abilities, it is his enemies the zoanoids, and Chronos, that really make the story shine. Why is Batman so great? it's not because Batman's powerful. It's because the Joker is a wonderful character and very dangerous. In the beginning of the Guyver manga the only reason that Guyver can defeat each zoanoid is because he learns about a new ability on his armor. But there's a point in the story where Chronos gets the upper hand and every battle is life or death. That's something you don't get with One Piece or Naruto,

They've been scanlated by a group called Guyver Advocacy but they won't let you view them unless you provide proof of having actually bought a physical copy of the manga in Japanese...
I'm looking for scans in any language, preferably European so I can translate them myself and understand what's going on.
Any help greatly appreciated :)
Does anyone know where or if there is a blu ray collection of the series of the original anime that has this version of the theme song in it? If there is no blu ray, is there a DVD version with all the episodes?

Guyver Units in the all their incarnations seem to have the characteristics of symbiote or parasite depending on how you look at it. But given the how to were made by the alien creators on earth, I can't help but wonder how their were made ? what are made from? how do they power requirements for generating blackholes or the most powerful weapon the mega-smasher?
Y'all got any love for Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor over here?
Obscure anime/manga I enjoyed as a kid...alone...because nobody's ever heard of it.
Where the Guyver fans at?!
Hey guys, welcome to yet another week of my great OAV watch. This is my little project of watching all the OAVs on my PTW list...all 170+ of them.
Staff and Background
Million Dollar Conspiracy (MDC) is technically a sequel to City Hunterโs 3rd series but given the episodical nature City Hunter this really has no bearing on MDC outside of a certain character now being married and owning a coffee shop, not really a big deal. MDC was directed by Kenji Kodama who was the guy that directed pretty much everything City Hunter. He also directed around 250 episodes Detective Conan, Dog of Flanders, and the Rose of Versailles movie..
Given that this is a spin-off Iโll give you guys a rundown of City Hunterโs basic premise. Ryou Saeba is the City Hunter. He is a sweeper, essentially a gun for hire but in a good way, with the majority of his cases being for or centred around beautiful women. This is because Ryou is a massive pervert, I mean he is basically a sex offender. But because this is the 80s/early 90s they got away with it! Interestingly this isnโt really a big part of the original manga, as far as I have been told, and was played up because they wanted the anime to appeal to women, Iโm not quite sure who thought that was a plan with any merit though. Ryouโs partner in crime is Kaori who does her best to reign in Ryouโs rampant libido. That is the basic premise of City Hunter; Ryou and Kaori go around guarding, rescuing, and sometimes even killing whoever they are hired to. The two most frequent recurring characters are Umibozu, another sweeper, and Saeko, the series femme fatale and a member of the police. Oh and I forgot to mention that it is quite clear that Kaori an Ryou are desperately

Adam Warlock - marvels bioengineered cosmic messiah, capable of various forms of energy casting and one time holder of Soul Gem and Infinity Gauntlet.
Since both parties are massively powerful, the shape of arena is not really important. Let's say it's a burning city.
I don't think Archanfel needs much powerups, and he doesn't really have much variants, so I'll make rounds based on Adam power levels:
Round 1 - Archanfel vs post-Annihilation Adam (from 2008 GotG, without Soulgem, his powers altered into Quantum Magic)
Round 2 - Archanfel vs classic Adam Warlock (with Soul Gem)
Round 3 - Archanfel vs Magus
Round 4 - A token mention of Archanfel vs Adam with Infinity Gauntlet
Hi! I just wanted to share this series with any of the younger audience out there that might have missed it. Its a battle seinen sci-fi about Aliens and Genetic Engineering. The 12 episode OVA was the first anime I ever watched and made me a life long fan. The entire 12 ep OVA is also free on Youtube with the English dub(which is memeable af) if anyone wants to check it out. I hope you tries it out and ends up enjoying it ^_^

Hello everyone,
Just a quick question about the DAT booster. I started studying a couple of weeks ago and I'm kind of struggling with retaining the information from the BIO section. I also saw that there are quizlets for the BIO section. Would it be worth memorizing them? Also for anyone who used DAT booster how was your study method for the BIO section? (Or in general).
Like the title says. Adding him to my small Guyver collection. Got him cheap as his left knee joint is broken so his leg falls off. Gonna start looking to see if I can fix it. If not I guess I will probably just have to glue his leg but won't be able to really do any good poses :( See pics of him here and of my collection so far. https://imgur.com/a/HxXvLFn
So in the manga and animes, the armor is stored in like a subspace pocket, with the user at all times, right next to you, but cannot be seen or interacted with.
Then we have the two live action movies, where the armor is actually stored within the body, the receivers from the manga act like ports, the armor erupts, and forms around then user.
So there we have it, which do you like? Does it matter to you? Personally I find the movie's version more intriguing, and gives the vibe of the Guyver armor being a parasite. It's a little like body horror, except instead of actual horror you become an armored badass superhero. I grew up on both the anime and movies, but I give just a smidge more points for the body storage.
