With France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium not wanting to assist the US in the Persian gulf near Iran, relations between the US and Europe remain to worsen. (This dispute started when Trump pulled the US out of the Iran nuclear deal, which was vastly supported by many European countries).

When it was constructed, the Maginot Line, by design, would force Germany to attack through Belgium in the event of a future war with France. Were Franco-Belgian relations damaged at all by this?
Surely Belgium would have wanted to stay out of any future conflict, and wouldn't take kindly to France effectively forcing them to participate?
In short, what did Belgians think of the Maginot Line?

Employment in Belgium for Master in International Relations
Hello, I am writing this for my mother who has 20 years of experience working for the Albanian government. She is currently residing in Brussels representing our government and wants to stay there in hope for a better life for me and her. However she is not sure for where to look for or what kind of job she is able to land. She can speak basic French, advanced English and advanced Italian, a Bachelors in law and a Masters in International Relations which she received in Belgium. Thanks for your help, things are getting tough.

Beer Pilgrimage with my Dad to Germany & Belgium - reccomendations?
Good people of r/beer, I am planning a trip to Germany & Belgium with my father and I am hoping that those of you with more experience than myself can give me some guidance.
I will never forget as a child how frequently my dad told me "I can't wait until you're old enough to have a beer with your dad." Since that time arrived, we have spent an impressive amount of time drinking beer together and I certainly attribute my love of it to him. It is something that we have bonded over and that is meaningful to us.
We had always spoken about taking a trip to Germany and Belgium some day. Realizing that neither of us are getting any younger, I have decided to get this trip booked for us this fall. However, I have never been to either country.
We would plan to be there for at least 10 days but maybe longer depending on how the plans come together.
My first question is what are the three or four cities that I should plan to stay in? We don't want to spend too much time packing and unpacking and would like to travel by train, so while I have always wanted to go to Munich and Berlin for example, it doesn't seem practical for this trip.
My second question would be about specific breweries, beer bars, areas of town, etc. that you would recommend us visit?
Thanks in advance for any feedback you share! Cheers!

For those who visited the Battle of the Bulge memorial sites here in Luxembourg, or Belgium or Germany, how was it? What were your impressions?
I sometimes wonder how Americans feel when they see that our country is absolutely plastered with American flags commemorating this or that division, general, or even individual soldiers. Thought that when I stood in front of our airport and immediately spotted a star spangled banner in the distance.

US Soccer should consider holding U-23 camps in a central European location like Germany, France, Belgium, or the Netherlands. Here's a group of players that I don't expect to be on Gregg's January #USMNT roster who are U-23 eligible as of this year.

[IWantOut] 30M Philippines -> Belgium/Germany
Background:
- Healthy with no vices
- No criminal history
- No lengthy unemployment
- University graduate
- Currently work in Human Resources, willing to take a step down or even take entry level jobs
- Fluent in English, can't speak either of the above nation's languages but willing to invest time and money to learn
- Open to other suggested countries
Long story short, the cost of living in the country is spiraling upwards while wages have not kept up with inflation since I started working. My main consideration would be somewhere where the cost of living is not completely crazy - I am aware that the COL in Belgium and Germany isn't that low compared to other countries but I think factors like infrastructure and general safety make it worth it.
I am not picky about things like food and I'm willing to adapt to new cultures and social graces. I'm interested in the outdoors, music and art, but at this point I consider these a bonus.
Lastly, I don't mind living outside a metropolis so long as public transport is available and the commute is around 30-40 each way (for reference, I live in the city and my travel time to work each way is 1.5 hours minimum).

Not sure where else I can possibly get a straight answer to this question. Can anyone tell me if these countries accept antigen tests or proof of recovery in order to enter bars and restaurants? Any insight would be appreciated.

[IWantOut] 27F Early Childhood Educator Germany-> Belgium, Netherlands/Europe
So I'm an American that's been in Germany for 8-9 years after completing school on a military base here. I've gone through a long process of learning German and finishing my schooling as an early childhood educator (Erzieherin). During my schooling I worked as an assistant for a woman in a wheelchair and after my education, continued working with her and work privately for a family as an educator.
For what ever reason, the foriegn affairs office is only extending my visa by months, they have done this for the entire time I was here, aside from the time I was married. I am in contact with a lawyer and it will probably be cleared somehow, but I don't know if it's realistic to stay in a country that has made it so difficult to be here.
I feel like the life I have built up here doesn't make sense. Therefore, I'm looking into other options, because I don't want another year or two of this without any other options.
I ideally would like to work independently taking care of a couple of children in my own home or at their parent's home. Or in a smaller institution initially.
I don't know if these things are unrealistic as well.
I am fluent in German and English and have the German education to work with children.
I would be open and interested in to learning a new language, but obviously Dutch would be the easiest with my current language knowledge. However, obviously any foriegn language will be spoken with an accent, which may not be ideal for working with children.
So maybe my only asset would be English as a native language.
I put Belgium and Netherlands, but am open to other suggestions as well.
How difficult are the bureaucratic hurdles in other countries?
