A list of puns related to "Basic feasible solution"
About 33% of the biomedical waste generated in my country (India) in May 2021 is due to the single-use plastic in the form of surgical masks, face shields, gloves,Β shoeΒ covers,Β andΒ otherΒ personalΒ protectiveΒ items which are being used on a massive scale in these times. This has been negatively impacting the environment. Dumps of these equipments can be found on roadways,Β behindΒ hospitals,Β onΒ beaches,Β inΒ parkingΒ lots,Β inΒ landfills, etc. What are some scalable solutions that can be implemented (both on a small and large scale) to help fix this issue?
EDIT: 'generated in my country now' to 'generated in May 2021'
In terms of keeping their status of a state, what do you think is the best possible solution? Personally I think they should get to keep their status despite not possessing all elements of the Montevideo Convention definition of a state. However I donβt have a good explanation for it. Do you think they should still be a state with rights and privileges to sovereignty and make relations with other states?
Crowdsourcing is one of the best ways to find missing people. Could we turn this into an actual futures market? How would it be structured?
So i've been aware of this for decades, but since the pandemic i've been acutely aware of how dire our situation is. I'm wanting to read up and explore possible solutions to this issue.
As far as I can tell the only one that comes to mind is a mini political revolution where the majority of western countries vote green and enact legislation that forces the largest polluters to radically change. This of course means huge increase in costs for everyone and a significant drop in living standards, but people need to accept this.
Even then we're left with the BRIC countries who contribute hugely to pollution but are not so well off they'd be happy to reduce their living standards further.
Beyond that... well i can't see anything.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some reading or ideas that solve this issue?
Grid and hydrogen are good, but we don't have much time left. We must seek immediate green solutions such as RNG. Sooner or later, the earth could be flooded.
Net-negative carbon emission can be achieved with RNG.
CNN reported on the 30th (local time) that "8.5 billion tons of glaciers melted in Greenland during the day of the 27th," using data from the Danish Meteorological Research Institute. This amount can cover the entire state of Florida with about 5 centimeters of water.Β It is the third largest since satellite observation began in the 1970s, with 18.4 billion tons of ice melted when the standard time was pulled to the 24th.

Obviously the poor are more likely to suffer than the rich, regardless of race and it's easier to build a coalition that helps with race issues by doing things that help a majority rather than just minorities.
However at the end of the day, you have to recognize that structural racism must exist, because you have to explain why PoC are disproportionately poor, because otherwise the only other explanation is inherent inferiority. The people who insist on denying the existence structural racism should either drop that bullshit or stop being cowards and admit they believe the latter.
Apparently it's possible to fit carbon capture (CC) technology to industrial plants. However, very few plants use this. Why is it not mandated that all plants have this technology?
As an example, steelmaking contributes 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Should we not require that all steelmaking plants employ CC?
The usual reason i hear is that it's 'expensive'. But surely, if it was globally agreed to use CC for all steel, then the cost wouldnt present a competetive disadvantage. I assume there are more nuanced reasons, like immaturity of the technology? Is it feasible to mandate that all industrial plants employ CC?
^(Mandatory disclaimer: I'm trying to write a fantasy story, which does not aim for full historical accuracy but still an acceptable level. If "medieval" is too vague, let's go 13th to 15th century Europe.)
If I want to make a steel sword, I suppose the process can be separated into first acquiring/producing the steel, and then crafting the weapon itself.
When searching the internet, I find a lot of descriptions on how steel is made in modern times (starting from the 19th century) and the Bessemer process (1856) which is said to have allowed mass production of steel. This makes me wonder how rare steel was prior to the industrial revolution, and how widespread its use was both in common tools and in weapons. I can imagine that e.g. a shovel or a scythe would be made using cheaper metals, right? For warfare, I can imagine that larger kingdoms could easily equip their entire army with steel weaponry, but what about regional lords?
I guess this is linked to the production of steel and how many people were required to work on it. For a fantasy example, in the video game Skyrim, the town of Whiterun has two competing blacksmiths each working alone and producing their own steel without any help. Is that complete fantasy or could a lone person produce steel in usable quantities? How long would the process take?
Then, there is the crafting process itself. Googleing around I found that once you have the steel, making a sword could take order of one week on your own. Is that accurate? Is that with or without the use of a trip hammer, or are there other tools that can speed up the process?
I hope the question is interesting, looking forward to read you
I had a random idea during a discussion that took place while bashing an EVIL goon structure.
I know that CCP tried to figure out a way to get Logistics on killmails and found it too computationally difficult or whatever.
I wonder if it would be feasible to instead of calculating killmails by individual players, instead, associate the killmail using the fleet ID? Such that everyone in system that is a member of the fleet that scored the killing blow when the killmail is generated gets counted on the report, damage or not (instead of traversing a large web/graph of interactions). While still displaying the killmails as normal, just with the additional pilots marked with a moniker of "present during combat" or "fleet member with", something of that nature.
I reckon such might even simplify the killmail computation to help with load, and solve the problem of Logistics not getting their due credit. I also believe it would remove the necessity some people feel in that they have to "whore" on killmails, since as long as they're in the fleet/system when it occurred they get counted by default.
Similarly, count any Logistics pilots that activated remote rep/boost modules on the target of the killmail in the same way that damage contribution is shown from hostile modules, but instead of "damage dealt", display as "damage repaired".
Just an idea, don't know if it's ever been hypothesized or discussed as an option.
So Iβm working on this new floor lamp design using flex conduit as my flower stems. I noticed that hanging it upside-down gives them the perfect natural flowing shape that I like (see second pic) What Iβm trying to figure out now is how to permanently hold them in that shape and looking for any genius ideas or advice.

My ideas were:
Thatβs all I got, I am open to any achievable suggestions ππΌ
Edit:
Ok so this is where my thought process is at after hearing from all you fine folks
Rigid can not be used to describe wire.
Epoxy seems like the goin option to freeze it in time, if I can manage to funnel it though without it escaping. The rubber tube idea may help with that. I could pour the epoxy through the tube and keep the wires running along the outside of it so it canβt effect the insulation.
If the solution is not worth the effort, Iβll give it a go with out the flex and make the stems out of copper.
Ok so I've recently came across a 'show' where a girl child was performing tightrope walking on street of villages, small towns.
Everyone cheered, clapped on the performance, donated tiny amounts of money and that's it. I was suggested to see the performance and donate.
Now here I faced the dilemma and I don't see a solution that results in positive.
See the girl is for sure talented judging by the audience seeing performance and I should appreciate that by financially supporting her and the people managing the show (mostly the family). But if I do that (as most of the people do), what I'm supporting is a solution which makes the family survive (It might be hard for them to earn by some other job), further tightrope practice of the child, ruined childhood, negatively affecting her schooling (probably to no school at all), normalising seemingly a dangerous work without safety instruments.
I refused to be the part of the crowd but I see no solution which do not harm them in some way or the other.
