Balance shaft delete on street car

Ive watched a few videos, and heard of a few people doing it. What are the pros and cons about it?

Stick balance (head/shaft)

My daughter is 8YO. We were working on some cradling skills and I tried her STX Lilly (entry level stick) and I was having troubleβ€”I feel the balance is really offβ€”the head is much heavier than the shaft.

I use a Brine Dynasty Warp with a mesh pocket. It’s a little long for her but she seems to handle better with it too. I think it’s the balance.

I’m hesitant to get her an expensive stick ($100+) yet. Can I cut down the composite shaft of the Brine? I feel like the more success she has (with stick handling), the more likely she is to stick with the sport.

Looking for advice.

Upper Balance Shaft Stripped!?

I had a timing belt roller bolt fall out and into my balance shaft gears. This jammed my balance shaft belt up, and ended with my upper balance shaft bolt working it’s way out. Then it stripped the threads in the shaft itself. I’ve tried to rethread the shaft, but having little luck. What are my options at this point? I think at this point I’m just going to run without the balance shafts as I was running without them before without knowing. Looking for the wise redditors knowledge.

TL;DR: Upper Balance Shaft is stripped. Is it worth replacing or should I run without them?

Balance after new (used) drive shaft?

Hey all, I’m replacing the whole drive shaft (propeller shaft) assembly on my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 6M with 109k miles and a shot center carrier bearing and torn flex couplers. Hyundai charges $1200 for a new one so I got a used one from a salvage yard. They certify the stuff they pull out so I guess why not give it a shot.

My question is when I install the new drive shaft that been balanced previously with the donor car, do I need to rebalance it to suit mine specifically or is it pretty much good to go?

Thanks in advance!

How do you identify a bad timing/balance shaft roller?

I've got a roller making some noise. Can't tell if it's an acceptable amount of bearing noise. What does a brand new roller sound like? Is it silent and hard to spin because on an intact seal?

Mine spin freely and sound like metal rolling bearings, but not grinding or anything.

How come some engines use balance shafts and some don't?

Hi! Why is it some engines use balance shafts, and some don't? I would understand if inline 6 engines came without balance shafts, but my friends Volvo inline 5 (naturally unbalanced engine) has no balance shafts either. How come this be? Do they use the camshaft/crankshaft to balance the secondary forces or are some engines just designed to not be balanced by balance shafts?

Thank you!

I'm from Denmark

Balance shaft delete

Who can vouch for or against it? I talked to my tuner, and he basically said not worth it, but I already bought the parts and the oil change, and I hear all these great things about it as long as I leave the housing, so I wanted to get some experiences on it. I know that it makes NVH a little worse, but this car is no luxury car, so I don't really mind too much.

2006 W211 E350 - Resolved balance shaft problem

How I resolved the balance shaft issue in my 2006 E350.

Here's the story, here's what I did:

https://imgur.com/gallery/RnDdCRR

So I had been getting Camshaft Adjustment codes for quite a while on this car. Reading the MBWorld forums regarding these codes and the engine in this year model, I didn't want to admit it, but I knew what would likely be the end result.

So, I'll just clear the code and mosey on down the road and pretend that nothing's wrong... Pesky orange triangle in the dash must mean that the car is trying to tell me the world is not a safe place.I have been clearing the codes on these for about 50,000 miles now. Codes first showed up at about 100,000 miles. I decided to ride it out all the way to the end- which in March this year felt like was imminent, so it was time to deal with it.

Time for the big dirty.

Decision to make:
Keep car and rebuild engine

-OR-

Keep car and replace engine entirely

-OR-

Hock this at a used lot for another model, essentially sand-bagging the next guy - a major dick move. Remember the karma payment plan..

Decision made:
Keep car and replace engine with one that's newer, with lower mileage--if one could be found at the right price.

Reason:
I went with replace over rebuild because I did not want to deal with the complexity of the timing. And if I was going to go that far into it (rebuild), then I would've rebuilt every part of it (heads, bearings, rings etc..) The replacement part cost plus the timing complexity did not win me over the replace option. The engine has to come out regardless of whether I rebuild or replace, so why not replace with a younger one. I did consider that swapping the engine could lower the value of the vehicle, but the book value versus personal value aren't even close- they never are.

This was my first Benz and dang I love this car! Over the years I have sorted out every large/small issue that it has had. Everything works on this car, so why hock it for another that one has likely been poorly maintained if even maintained at all.. $2,000 budget to replace the engine on a chassis that is tip-top, or drop $5,000-10,000 for a newer model just to have to fix the suspension and/or other gremlin issues.
