Hi, Im looking for the 4th or 5th edition PDF version
Im a senior in Speech Pathology and Audiology, going for my doctor of audiology (grad school willing....) and Im a fellow misophonia sufferer. I feel personally that misophonia is more of a psychological issue than an auditory one, however, auditory therapy has its benefits, especially at first. So, Im in a course for Aural Rehabilitation, and he mentioned some tinnitus sufferers being brought to tears, sleeplessness, and suicidal thoughts. Sound familiar? So, I asked him about misophonia today. He hasnt heard of it (surprise) but he mentioned cognitive therapy that helps tinnitus sufferers may help people with misophonia. Im going to put together a packet of information on misophonia, common triggers (along with my personal triggers), common auditory compensation/therapy (for me, blue noise, you can see my write up here), and what small bits of ideas I have about a more cognitive/psychological approach.
I also want to see what YOU GUYS want from a visit with an audiologist to discuss misophonia. For me, Id like understanding. Dont tell me its not a big deal and can be ignored. Second, Id like to hear about some options (auditory/cognitive therapy), instead of being told there isnt anything to do but ignore it.
Weigh in, please! :)
Hey Reddit fam,
I'm not sure if I am in the right sub, but let me know if I'm not! Anyways, I'm taking an aural rehabilitation class and for our assignment I have to interview 3 people total with either: hearing aids, cochlear implants, OR parents of a child with cochlear implants or hearing aids. I actually don't know anyone that does wear any so I was hoping to ask you all and it would be awesome if you could help me out.
Here are the questions:
QUESTIONS FOR INTERVIEW WITH PARENTS OF A CHILD WHO WEARS HEARING AIDS OR HAS A COCHLEAR IMPLANT
How old was your child when you found out that he/she had a hearing loss?
After your child received his instrument(s), how long was it before you began to see benefits for your child?
What situations are best for you child when listening with the device(s)?
What situations are hardest for your child when listening with the device(s)?
What complaints do you have about your childβs device(s)?
Do you feel like your childβs hearing aids or cochlear implant have/has lived up to what your audiologist and/or surgeon told you it would do?
If you had one thing you could change about your experience or your childβs experience getting hearing aids/a cochlear implant, what would that be?
QUESTIONS FOR INTERVIEW WITH PEOPLE WHO WEAR COCHLEAR IMPLANTS
When did you have the surgery to get your cochlear implant?
After you were implanted, how long did it take before you were able to see benefit from the implant?
What situations are best for listening with your implant?
What situations are hardest for you when listening with your implant?
What complaints do you have about your cochlear implant?
Do you feel like your cochlear implant has lived up to what your audiologist and/or surgeon told you it would do?
Do you think you do better with the implant as compared to when you had hearing aids?
QUESTIONS FOR INTERVIEW WITH 3 PEOPLE WHO WEAR HEARING AIDS
How long have you worn your hearing aids?
For how long before you got your hearing aids did you suspect you had a hearing loss?
How long do you wear your hearing aids each day?
Do you feel like you get benefit from your hearing aids?
What complaints do you have about your hearing aids?
Do you feel like your hearing aids have lived up to what your audiologist or hearing aid dealer told you they would do?
Did you get your hearing aids from an audiologist or a hearing aid dealer?

I am currently enrolled in USU's online program, earning my BS in communicative disorders and deaf education. I have an assignment for my Aural Rehabilitation class which requires me to conduct interviews with three individuals. My interview subjects must: wear either a hearing aid or a cochlear implant, or be the parent(s) of a child who wears a hearing aid or cochlear implant. I can conduct the interviews via FaceTime or Skype and record their answers, or I can simply email/PM the questions to my subjects and they can email/PM me their responses (I assume people would prefer this).
I do not personally know anyone who fulfills the requirements of my assignment, but so far I have found two people and conducted my interviews with them. I'm hoping that someone from this subreddit who fits one of those descriptions might be willing to allow me to interview them. The interviews are about 14 questions each, and my assignment is due on 1/30, so ideally I'd like to interview someone at your soonest availability.
If you'd prefer to answer my questions over webcam/phone, no one would watch or listen to the video and audio recordings I make other than myself, for transcription purposes. You would only be identified in my paper as "Subject 3" and the only personal information I would need would be your age, gender, type of hearing loss, and the specific device(s) you use. I am more than happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
I also wanted to clarify that this is not market research of any kind.
Thanks,
Dylan

... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!

Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Hello Reddit, this is my first time posting. I am a student taking an aural rehabilitation course and I need to interview people who have a cochlear implant (socially media is allowed). I need to interview 3 people and I would appreciate it if some of you could answer the following questions. Thank you so much for your time.

How long did you wear hearing aids prior to getting your cochlear implant?
How long did you suspect a hearing loss before you started using hearing aids?
Did you do any research prior to getting your cochlear implant? Did you attend meetings or workshops to meet other CI users?
After you were implanted, how long did it take before you were able to see benefit from the implant?
What situations are best for listening with your cochlear implant?
What situations are hardest for you when listening with your cochlear implant?
What complaints do you have about your cochlear implant?
Do you feel like your cochlear implant has lived up to what your audiologist and/or surgeon told you it would do?
How often do you go into the audiologist for mapping appointments?
What accessories (if any) do you use with your cochlear implant to help you communicate better?
Do you think you do better with the cochlear implant as compared to when you had hearing aids?
