A list of puns related to "Audio tape specifications"
Hi all,
I feel like I keep coming back here but you're all very helpful.
I'm currently fixing the audio for a documentary and I'm checking the specifications required for the distributor and all they say in their document is:
"Audio levels should average at -6dB as much as possible. Please prevent audio levels going below - 12dB."
Does this simply mean that I'm looking at my meters and checking that the audio hits -6db as much as possible? The last time I conformed any audio for online I had to adhere to -23lufs.
I'm pretty much learning on the job and wanted to check before I get deep into this, thanks in advance!
Can someone advise the DC jack specifications that is used on the Google Nest Audio speaker?
OR advise an extension cable to fit?
**TRANSCRIPTION #457 β BEAT-UP RECORDER. **
TRANSCRIBERβS NOTES:
Hey so, I donβt know whose account this is, but if you want me to post what I found I donβt give a shit. Some fucker in a suit paid me to analyze the soundwaves on some beat-up recorder. Turns out the waveforms roughly correlated to binary and therefore into language. A week later Iβd translated the whole thing. Weird as hell. Grammar's mine. Fucker in the suit never showed up with my money, so yeah, Iβll post it here. Maybe others can get something from it.

We heard him from the moment he stepped out of his door and into his truck. From the confines of his shitty home he thought modernity could cast us out, but outside his tools were fewer.
The man's son feared the dark. No matter the time of day the man's house was lit up like a firework display, each room beaming out at us with a fiery grin. Other houses would succumb and find us eventually, but not the man's house.
The man worked nights and left his son swamped in the rays. The greatest pleasure is in the conquering of the greatest prey. We had followed the man as he drove around the city for years now. He would set out after midnight and search for a cell tower in need of repairs. Throughout the night he'd climb the tower with a headlamp atop his head, make the necessary repairs under the soft glow of safety lights, then descend to the terrible gaze of his truck's headlights.
There was a tremendous sense of guilt in the man for leaving his son at home by himself. He brought a tape recorder with him and chatted into it to make objects of comfort for his son. Usually it was inane, truly it was a diary of sorts, one that his son could play at night if he ever missed his father.
Perhaps, we wondered, the man salves his guilt by keeping the lights on and by recording the tapes. It is more for his benefit than his son's. After all, the man need only leave the lights on in his son's room and let the rest of his home succumb, but night after night we watched a house without a single darkened room. There is no reason he should talk into the tapes, yet that never stops him.
As the nights grew darker, our desperation to snatch a greater prey grew greater than our instinct to hide. We were never sure whether it was the son or the father that we desired most. Perhaps it was neither, but what their bond represented.
They had wound their clocks back and the dusk stole hours of the day from them. Soon the lights

I donβt know if any that allow you to play back the audio backwards, I know it can be done easily with reel to reel. Along with backwards playback Iβd also like to have speed and pitch controls.
Maybe this is something that is just technically not possible with cassettes?
Such as when people make "isolated bass/vocal," tracks of popular songs or make a meme mashup of one song with he vocal line of another over it?
Sorry if this isn't the right subreddit but I really need help restoring an old audio cassette. I found my old deluxe Talkboy from home alone 2 which still had the cassette on it. I listened to it and found I had a recording of family for 1998, many of which have long since passed. I wanted to convert them to a mp3 file so I connected to my PC via the audio cable. It didn't work so I tried listening to my recording and found nothing but static. The other side still plays so I don't think the cassette was magnetized. Please any ideas to fix this would be appreciated.
It pop up today and I havent ever seen it before so it was kinda cool and not that hard if you know where to look up.
However knowing this sub I'm sure I'll see like 50 posts today complaining that its a bad challenge, not everyone has access to them (somehow), they need to change it or remove it etc.
If you follow those conspiracy theory channels on Youtube, or maybe follow any conspiracy blogs or are just into that sort of thing. I am sure that you've heard a bunch of these types of stories. Stories of people time travelling through time and warning us about the future, be it utopian or dystopian.
Most if not all of those stories are bullshit, people trying to get attention or profit by using naive and guillable people.
What makes this story different, though, is the fact that I have a credible source. And you can say that it is cliche or whatever, I'm here to share a story which left me disturbed, to say the least.
The person in question, that I shall not name for their own safety, is a government employee. A friend of mine if you will, he gave me this audio tape, then promptly dissapeared. His phone number no longer exists and I can't find any record of him even existing.
But I digress, I've never been fond of conspiracy theories, some of them made some sense I have to admit. But I've never went full on tinfoil hat bonkers cause of them.
This tape changed my perspective. I'll stop rambling and let the tape speak for itself...

In the garage I found this Tascam DA-20 MkII DAT deck, itβs a player and recorder. I know that DAT failed in the consumer world and was basically just a studio technology. Iβll try doing some recordings on it and I already ordered some blank DAT cassettes on eBay but Iβm interested what music recorded in a studio sounds like on the format. I read that New Order released Substance on DAT and Iβm looking for that now, any other good records on this format? In terms of quality, is it basically like a CD? Better? Worse?
Thanks! Merry Christmas!
I'm thinking it'll be a great way to combine mindfulness with stoicism while still getting the effects of guided meditation. And it'll be good for those who cant or don't have the time to read guidebooks and such.
Is there such a thing?
Iβve been playing on war tapes since the game released and the audio is just so quiet. It doesnβt emphasize chaos or explosions. Decided to switch it to normal and noticed a major audio improvement in sound itself.
Localization Audio still sounds like it needs work

After going over my notes I believe there are 2 separate people being talked to by the therapists. Thereβs Vanessa and NT or non talking. Vanessa talks in tapes 1,3,5,7,9,10,11, and 12. She says she likes the flowers and the sunny sky. NT is in tapes 2,4,6,8,13,14,15, and 16. They like the curtains drawn and dislikes the flowers. NT appears to be a child as they donβt know words like βsubjective and objectiveβ, donβt quite fit the chair, and takes candy from Therapist 3. Something Vanessa refuses. NTβs and Vanessaβs past 3 therapists go missing at which point only NT is in therapy. Well 2 are missing 1 is dead.
