How Aphrodite could ever fight. This is a question probably has popped in the minds of many of us, RoR fans, but, as far as I'm concerned, nobody really tried to find an answer to such an eternal dilemma. That's the reason why, here and now, I will start a SERIOUS descussion on how would Aphrodite's combat style exactly be.

But first things first. Let's adress one of the big problems when it comes to imagine Aphrodite fighting. And that is her "body shape". I believe we all agree in that Aphrodite would never be able to face an opponet eficiently... in that form. Because the form we have seen until now in the manga would only be her, say, her "chilling form", which we would be adressing, like ancient Greeks did, as Aphrodite Pandemos. But in case she needed to go all out, she would turn into her more elevated and suited for combat form: Aphrodite Ourania. Just like Zeus would never use his old man form to confront his rivals.

Another stone in the road is her weapon. Many people assume that Aphrodite, as a non warrior godess, has never wielded a weapon in any of her stories. However, that's not the case. Specifiaclly, we will be looking at the Adonis myth. Adonis was an extremely handsome man, so much so that Aphrodite and Persephone started a true battle for his company. In the end, Zeus decided that Adonis should spend one third of the year with Aphrodite, another third with Persephone and finally the rest of the year with whoever he prefered. He chose Aphrodite, and so they started to share his hobbies. Adonis was a huge fan of hunting, and convinced Aphrodite to join him in his expeditions. So just because of that, we now that most probably Aphrodite DID know how to use a weapon, which, if we research about what kind of intruments Greeks used for hunting, we would see that range from daggers and bows to double-headed axes. Nevertheless, the most important scene of this myth revolves around a boar atacking Adonis, so I think the most suiting weapon for her would be a javelin, which was the main weapon used by Greek boar hunters.

And, of course, this javelin would have been forged by her husband Hephaestus. Hephaestus also gave Aphrodite several gems and even a belt that made her look prettier. So if we go wild, we could also think that she could use some Hephaestus artifacts, perhaps his automatons (which I like to think are his boob holders). Although I won't include it in my moveset, feel free to imagine whatever you want in this regard.

A character that appears in the story of king Pygmalion, one of Greece's myths.

Pygmalion, king of Cyprus and sculptor, was disillusioned with real women and stayed unmarried, but at one point he sculpted an "ideal woman" in white ivory. How the hell am I suppose to know when it’s raining in Sweden?

Ants don’t even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.

But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

So I have been working in fleshing out the Archons society in my Theros campaign, and have hunted at them being a major player to my players in game.

I love the part in their entry about the Archons serving a force they seem higher than the present gods. So in my world after the Archons defeat they were scattered to the north where eventually they began to regroup out of necessity in order to survive the wilds of the north and strange magics. Here they begin to rebuild slowly all the while maintaining this belief in this higher force. This belief eventually takes form as beliefs do on Theros as the Archons rebuild and re-shape themselves (meaning identity not physicality).

So this Force they follow and serve needs some type of inspiration, so looking at the existing gods Aphrodite is the only one without my real representation. Heliod is mentioned as being referenced in marriage ceremonies, which is generally more of a Hera thing than Aphrodite. So doing some research I found this video. https://youtu.be/JIUq0pfAskU

At this point I had the inspiration to treat her Theros counterpart similar to the Christian Holy Trinity and divide up the different represtations of Aphrodite to make the Trinity.

Urania who governs protection, pure love, marriage and law as well as being the Queen of the Heavens

Pandemos who governs carnal love, political gains or interpersonal interaction, motherhood and is the Queen of the Waters of Life

Areia who governs passion, war, invention, Fertility and is the Queen of the Flames or Rebirth

The trinity concept gets embodied by the fact that as long as one of these sister gods remain the other two can reform, which makes them a reasonable threat to the existing pantheon, especially considering their domains overlap with other existing deities.

So the Archons are coming back with the backing of this trinity to reinstate themselves and usurp some of the existing god's.

Let me know what you all think as this a developing idea. Should I change the names of the Queens, as they are literally just the different epitaths of Aphrodite?

I just wanted to confirm, because many hellenists say they can sense the deity's presence. Is it usually like this?

It's been one month since I became an Aphrodite devotee. I'm reminded of it in a beautiful way because my period came last month in the same day when I raised an altar and it's here again.

And in this month, a long, platonic and difficult involvement I had with a guy I believed I had feelings for ended for good.

It was an extraordinarily smooth heartbreak and despite of unavoidable sadness and jealousy, I felt free and at peace.

And that's exactly what I asked praying for Aphrodite a short time before:

With an "?" because I knew it would hurt and yeah, it hurt like pulling off a band-aid.

I never asked for things to WORK OUT with him. I asked for things to be like they're supposed to be, like they're better off being. With or without him in my life.

As soon as the tears dried, I started considering this an Aphrodite blessing. Sort of painful, but necessary.

So tonight I lit an incense and prayed to thank her for my heartbreak. A heartbreak where I got everything I asked for with my honest words.

I took a class once that mentioned how the feminine Aphrodite had more carnal desires and the masculine Aphrodite had more intellectual desires. I can't find any texts or sources talking about this--are there any good ones that you know of?
