Alf Landon Puns

So earlier I uploaded this post showcasing a massive landsilde for Alf Landon on normal. Well, this was only possible due to a bug involving the first question's best answer giving you way too much support. That answer was nerfed and is now working as intended. Despite this, with good enough RNG you can win anyways! Here is my guide.

Visits: Visit Wyoming and Iowa. Start off with Wyoming but when you feel as if Iowa needs to be visited, then start visiting Iowa for the rest of the campaign.

1. I shall take the attack to the excesses of the New Deal. We need to control government spending!
2. Damnit. Hopefully we can turn things around.
3. William Borah is a true progressive, who fights everyday for the citizens of this great nation. It’s no wonder I’d want someone like him as my running mate
4. I will focus my speech on continuing the positive aspects of the New Deal, and promise to undo the excess policies. We must lean into progressive support if we stand a chance.
5. Let’s pledge to keep the New Deal for the most part, and brand it as a sensible option compared to the radical “Share Our Wealth” program. Who knows if Roosevelt may try to implement Share Our Wealth during his second term? He’s talked about trying to “steal Huey Long’s thunder”, so where does it stop?
6. Let’s pledge neutrality and hope that the powers of Europe can come to an agreement.
7. I will use our campaign funds to pay for radio ads detailing our cause. That way listeners can be informed of us, and ads can be on all the stations.

9. I fully support a civil rights bill. Although we freed the slaves almost a century ago, their children and grandchildren still live under oppression due to racist laws. One of my priorities is to help the disadvantaged among us.
10. I’m glad the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was repealed, it was making the Depression worse.
11. These are horrible ideas, due to its costly nature. Maybe we could revisit some of these once the Depression is over, but for now, we must focus on recovery.

I’m not that interested in how, but for whatever reason let’s say Roosevelt doesn’t win in a landslide. Now Landon is POTUS at least from 1937-1941. What would the effect on the US and the world be?

It only took 20 days, but it's here. Version 2.0 of the 1936B mod is here, featuring Alf Landon, and his 3 running mates. Choose between Frank Knox (His IRL pick), Charles McNary (Oregon Senator, a Progressive), and Styles Bridges (New Hampshire Governor, a Conservative) to run with Alfred Landon in their fight to win the White House against Huey Long! It's possible to win as Landon on Normal, by the way, and this is intentional. The race is closer, as in this timeline, Huey Long surprisingly won the 1936 nomination over FDR.

Just like last time, the code, along with a tutorial for installing is featured on my GitHub. Simply copy the text from each .json in the repository and paste it into the code box. Also, after starting, if you see 2016 candidates, go to the polling map and return to the question, and it'll be fixed.

I'm not gonna add this to the mod loader just yet, as I wanna perfect it before I add it there. I spent most of today fixing margins and scoring, but in case it's not perfect message me on Discord at Astronomical#3005 and tell me what question (or questions) you think is off. I'm likely going to update it with some feedback over the weekend, and then after that, use this mod to create a regulars, definitive 1936 mod.

I was reading through Alf Landon's Wikipedia page (as you do) and noticed it said he wanted the US to join the EEC. It seems absurd now to think that the US would join what later became the European Union. Was this ever a serious option or was it just something he threw out there? I couldn't find much more information on the subject.

Good evening, everyone. I have gone in and adjusted my 1936b Mod, and am here to share the changelog. More specifically, these changes affect the Alf Landon portion. Like last time, the mod can be found here, along with a tutorial to play it. With these fixes, I believe that the mod is "complete", although I am still open to feedback. Next time I update the mod loader, I will be almost certainly be adding this mod. I also can confirm I will be using this mod as a base for a regular 1936 mod, which may be very similar, but questions (specifically many around Huey Long's unprecedented candidacy) will be modified, along with of course, margins.

I do also wanna confirm that, yes, it is entirely possible to win as Landon on Normal. While in v2.0 it may have been a bit too easy, this update's main goal was to adjust things*.* This of course, will not be the case on the regular 1936 mod. You can argue the historical realism of this mod, but I feel making it possible for Landon to win is more fun than just "our timeline but FDR is replaced with Huey Long".

Does America remain entirely neutral? Do the nazis see victory in Europe without any American intervention (no lend lease) or do we see a Red World?

In vanilla, the player can choose Alf Landon as President of the United States in the 1936 election scenario and can re-establish the gold standard through a focus. However, it just doesn't make sense that Alf Landon would cooperate with Macarthur, the America First party, Pelley and the Silver legion, and the Nazi Bund to re-establish the Confederate States and start another civil war. Now I know that there's gotta be some weird technicality where something like that shouldn't really matter or how if we view it as an RP standpoint, it's the people behind Landon that are starting that or something, but it still makes no sense and seems lazy to me. First of all, in OTL, Landon was a standard liberal republican, and second of all, he lost in a major landslide election to Roosevelt. I'm sorry, but I just don't see how he could cooperate with the silver shirts after being elected and everything else happens. Ig my excuse is that I haven't played Fascist USA in a while so some of it is not too familiar, but it just doesn't make any sense that a Landon administration would lead to that.

So what would make more sense? Well you know how you can play as Roosevelt and go down the communist path, which will lead you to a civil war with the southern states, well you can do something like that where the southern populist racists will rise up against a government that is progressing towards communism and Earl Browder. They feel cornered and think that fascism is the answer, and many southern states begin to cooperate with fascists and fascist influence across the country would grow due to fear mongering. I know this is a long post on something not many think about, and it's probably not worded all too great (I am very sleepy lolz) but it's just something I think about.

Also side note: Can you elect Eisenhower in '52? It would be cool to.

I saw that Roosevelt can be elected in the PSA after Olson is couped, so I was wondering if the same can be done for the other moderate VPs?

Is there seriously any advantage to picking Alf Landon whatsoever? Like as Floyd Olson you can go velvet glove and control the steel belt and curb stomp the longists. As John Garner, you can go austerity through the storm and gain the longest support avoiding a long uprising all together. But in what way is Direct Economic Intervention any better than those two focuses?

I have gone down the "fascist" path with Mr. Landon and civil war just broke out. Didn't even finish the Freikorps and the work with the bund focus, but somehow, the costitutionalists only got New England and I got the rest. I only got 14 divisions from my 70+ tho. Thats not even the problem, my main problem is that alf landon is still the non-aligned president. Fascist advisor was ticking so slowly(0,02) that I only got around 40% support for the "fascists". Is there any way to put Mr. Pelley (actual "fascist" guy) on as president?
