Ms. Pelosi drove through the Deep South interviewing conservative Americans in an attempt to leave her comfort zone and approach those whose who do not align with her worldview on issues ranging from climate change, racism, economics, politics, and faith.

I came away from watching the show with a sense of disbelief and dismay that citizens living in the same country could have such opposite, polarizing positions on the important issues that we all face here in the United States.

I was especially shocked & bewildered by the comments of the survivors and family members of the Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church shooting massacre last November in Texas. Twenty-six were killed and twenty injured. A female church member responded to a question about how they were coping with the tragedy. She said "If just one lost soul is brought into the church by these killings it was worth it."

I was dumbfounded by the statement. That a religious ideology could so brainwash a follower to the extent that the slaughter of innocent people, including the community's children, left them unable to rationally process the horrific event. The amount of cognitive dissonance needed to cope with the whole situation must be immense.

Having faith in a god and a belief system is one thing but to be able to justify and accept such a horrendous despicable act of violence boggles my mind. Religion pollutes and rots the human mind and continues to be an ever present danger to our civilization.
