A list of puns related to "Alexa McDonough"
> βThe people of Nova Scotia stand moved and diminished today before the passing of Alexa McDonough.
> No leadership figure has been held in the public mind and heart of this province with the same mixture of affection and respect.
> Such significance: Alexa was the first New Democrat to win a provincial seat, and the first to win a federal seat, in mainland Nova Scotia. Under her federal leadership, the NDP won 6 of 11 seats in the 1997 election, permanently recasting the mould of politics in this province. Alexa was the first woman elected to lead a major political party in Canada, in 1980.
> No one has had such a defining mentoring influence on generations of women in Nova Scotia, to consider their futures in the light of public service. Today's NSNDP caucus, with its record gender diversity, is testament to that legacy.
> Alexa's ability to connect with people has been her signature genius. To this day, more than a quarter-century since she has represented the provincial constituency, people will tell me, while canvassing in Halifax Chebucto, about the time they met Alexa and what that conversation meant to them. In her glory on the doorstep, Alexa loved people, and the people loved her back.β
> In her almost 30 year political career, Alexa McDonough OC ONS led both the Provincial and Federal NDP and held elected office as MLA for Halifax Chebucto/Fairview and MP for Halifax.

I came into this movie with low expectations, as I had seen the amount of criticism it received online mainly due to some of the casting decisions. And yeah, at first I wasn't into Leon. And I had no idea who was playing Jill.
But after a while the movie started to grow on me. It does make a lot of creative changes when it comes to the canon, seeing as adapting two games in a 110 minute movie is a very difficult quest. But it's definitely better than the original movies.
Some of the Easter eggs were nice (I LOL'd at the Jill Sandwich scene), and I genuinely ended up liking the portrayal of these characters. Chris and Claire were good, Leon had some nice moments, and Jill was likable enough. My surprise came with Wesker, Irons and Birkin though.
Wesker felt like a buffoon for half of the movie, unlike his game counterpart who has the biggest balls on the planet. I still liked him though, and ended up accepting it as just a retelling decision.
Irons was actually likable for me. Not the nicest human being, mind you, but at least he's not a complete monster like his game counterpart.
And Birkin was a disappointment. See, I always like seeing more of Neal McDonough, but I feel like he was both wasted in this movie, and more evil than he had to be (I'm talking about him taunting poor Chris and trying to experiment on Claire). His final form was cool though.
Also, the mid-credit scene felt like the opening of a porno for me.
Overall, I'd give the movie a 7.5/10. It's not the greatest movie in existence, but it's not trying to be. It's a good load of mindless fun. And the plot-holes and character changes get far more understandable if you just accept this to be an alternate universe that's not trying to imitate the OG material.
I sure hope the movie gets a sequel that adapts Code Veronica with RE4. I would definitely watch that.
Anyways, sorry for the long post.
The Blackhawks will hold a press briefing at 1 p.m. CT to discuss the findings of an independent investigation (conducted by Jenner & Block LLP) into their handling of the Bradley Aldrich sexual abuse scandal. Owner Rocky Wirtz, CEO Danny Wirtz, and lead investigator Reid Schar are scheduled to speak. Aldrich was a video coach with the Blackhawks from 2008-10. The Blackhawks face two lawsuits: 1) by a former player alleging sexual assault by Aldrich and 2) by a former student whom Aldrich was convicted of assaulting. Original Thread

I will admit straight away that I am writing this because of another post regarding the poetry of Rupi Kaur, but this is not a direct rebuttal to that post. I do not mean to disrespect anyone voicing their opinion regarding their taste, and this is not to make anyone feel guilty for voicing those tastes. Rather, I would like to re-frame the discourse regarding Kaur's work divorced from any subjective or aesthetic judgments. After all, the "what is good art/poetry/music?" discourse is outside my wheelhouse, having an incredibly sophomoric background in philosophy.
Rather, what I would like to challenge is the argument "Rupi Kaur does not deserve success because poet x is a much better poet". I challenge it not just as a faulty premise to begin with, but also its function as an insidious form of gatekeeping that fosters toxicity.
What complaints such as these miss, or fail to consider, is that our poetry scene is not a zero sum game. Millions of readers are not picking up milk and honey who would have just as easily gone for a copy of HIV, Mon Amour or The Awful Rowing Towards God if only Barns & Noble placed these works at the point-of-sale display instead. Therefor, one can only rationally bemoan Rupi Kaur's work merely existing in prominent retail spaces if, and only if, one believes a more meritorious work would have taken its place (and the last time I went to a Barnes & Noble, most of the displays were YA fiction, celebrity memoirs, and whatever the local High School's required summer reading was; I somehow disbelieve that Tyehimba Jess or Ocean Vuoung or Jill McDonough would be taking up those spaces instead of Kaur.) This argument, at its core, is faulty.
To put it bluntly, Rupi Kaur is not stealing food from other poet's mouths, "more deserving" poets would not fill her vacuum were she to be plucked out of space & time, and we are not losing the next great American poet to Instagram coattail chasing.
To expand on that last point, where are we most likely to lose valuable voices? Are we losing more poets to the dream of making it rich on Instagram poetry, or are we losing more poets to crippling student debt, or the intensely tight circle of wagons which constitutes the MFA poetry & publication scene? It's easy to take a figure deemed "unworthy" and treat them as synecdoche for everything wrong with The Industry (and it would be irresponsible for me to not point out that the figures in question are frequently young w

Wow, I can't believe it's all over. Thanks SO MUCH to everyone for voting. We have had thousands and thousands of votes and it has been an emotional whirlwind from start to finish.
Before I reveal the winners, and the full listing, just remember that this isn't an exact list given it was in a tournament but I made a full list based on their round position, and position within rounds.
Hope everyone had a Happy Christmas if they celebrate it, or a great weekend if they don't!
The Winner is....
TOFFEE APPLE CHEW
Despite a near tie in the semis, when TACy came up against Belinda it was a comfortable win with the soul sister stallion getting over 62% of the votes. That means the bad business bitch is in second place.
In third we have of course, Bella Ridley, who got 87% of the third match votes leaving Des Martin (poor, poor Des) in distant fourth.
Thanks again everyone and I hope you all enjoyed it!
From Injustice by Whitson:
>Lou Smit and I are unaware of any other case throughout history where a parent strangled their child with a garotte. (Whitson, 110, published in 2012)
I've done some digging, and I've found a handful of cases where parents have killed their children via ligature strangulation (as well as a few edge cases where I haven't been able to establish if the cause of death was manual or ligature strangulation).
As with some of my intruder murder posts, I find it interesting to contrast known elements of the Ramsey case with known elements of resolved cases to see if anything seems to line up.
This allows us a little insight into why a parent chooses to kill their child in this manner, among the least common method of killing in filicides. (For the morbidly curious the most common are smothering, drowning and beating. This was such depressing research.)
If anyone knows of any other cases, please leave them in the comments.
Amy Gregory
>Early life
>
>She was born Amy Smart in West Brighton on 16 February 1872 and married Frederick James Gregory (born 5 June 1867, Worthing) in Richmond in 1889. Her first child, Amy Sarah Ann, was born on 13 May that year and this was followed by the birth of a son, James William Walter, on 27 January 1892. In 1891 they were living at Albert Road, Richmond. Frederick was variously described as a groom, coachman, house-painter, 'paperhanger' (1911) or paper monger (1939). Her parents, John and Ann Smart, were living at Sheendale Terrace in 1891, and at 96 Mortlake Road in 1901.

Within the Fallout community, a decent amount of people seem to believe the Institute has no motive/goal. This is to clear up this misconception.
The Institute, when you first hear about them, is ravaging the Commonwealth. They strip towns for parts, according to Nick Valentine, they replace people according to almost everyone you meet, etc. And when we enter the Institute, Father says that their motives are "to help humanity/the surface". Clearly, there's some inconsistency here, but rather than diving into it, investigating, people took to it being...bad writing.
The Institute couldn't possibly lie or beat around the bush about their true motives. It's not like their actions say differently than their words, which no one IRL ever does. It's not like when you first meet them they deceive you. Fallout 4 couldn't make this more blatant than it already is, but because it's not said aloud, spoon fed to the player, it's written off as "bad writing".
Paying any attention to the game, investigating, the player would quickly realize the Institute's goals. Heck, they even have a Directorate meeting, involving you, and talk about their true motivations now that you're much more invested with the faction; there's no need to hide away the skeletons in the closet: to become self-sustainable, independent of the surface. That's their main motivation, their main goal.
Then there's these weird "whys" and I have to ask if they ever payed any attention. Commonly, I see questions like "why do they replace people" which is painfully obvious. Using three examples, there's Roger Warwick, Sammy, and Mayor McDonough.
I just don't get how people can say the Institute doesn't have a goal/motivation. To me, it's as if they didn't pay attention, or just...couldn't put two and two together because that involved investigating on your own and not having spoon fed dialogue/exposition.
I am watching the recent uncut interview with Allison and H posted by Chris McDonough of The Interview Room. Noticed something that I didnβt pay attention to months ago. Allison says some things that throw up red flags for me. She makes multiple references to Summer being alive that day. Just throws up red flags for me to use the word βaliveβ, as if she knows/thinks she is no longer alive. She also said she asked Candace what happened between the time H was dropped off and when they arrived home. Why would that matter if Summer went missing a while after getting home?
Just some thoughts, and wondering if anyone else noticed.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I recently participated as the Aβs GM in the 2022 edition of the r/baseball Offseason Sim. Basically, 30 Redditors each take control of a team as their GM and simulate the offseason starting from MLB as things exist following the end of the World Series. We also have Redditors that serve as player agents as well as moderators to keep the sim (relatively) sane and logical.
Coming into the sim, I wanted the Aβs because I like to make a a lot of moves and I felt that the Aβs had gone as far with their current core as they could. I also lived for a time in the Bay Area, and have a lot of fond memories of the franchise. Way back in the day, I did the 2018 sim as the Aβs GM. The Aβs missed the playoffs in 2021, have a thin farm, were going to lose several significant contributors in FA, were barely under the $90M budget I was given by the moderators when the offseason began, and many of their most valuable players will be free agents soon. Given those factors, I felt the Aβs would be sellers, and the demand in the sim was strong enough that I ended up trading most of the current core. However, I also kept in mind that the Aβs have never tanked and have quite explicitly said that they do not feel that tanking is in their best interests.
I think the easiest way to describe my sim is to say that I did a full scale teardown and then rebuilt a team that will be competitive but not good in 2022. Below are the notable moves (there wereβ¦ a good bit more) I made, grouped into a βTeardownβ and a βRestockingβ section. The moves are all linked to the move in the sim, so that way you can read my justification as well as any commentary generated by the move. You can also look at my sheet, which has a lot more details about the Aβs franchise as I left it.

Hi Ya'll,
I'd love a sanity check on my admissions profile. Stats and targets below. I've been told that being unemployed is a significant obstacle but I'm doing the best I can to make it work! I have strong recs and lots of support from my previous employer (I left to pursue an MBA and career pivot).
Applied R2: SOM, Stern, Darden, Ross, CBS, Wharton, McDonough
GRE: 331 (166V/165Q), GPA: 3.81, Ivy (humanities major w/ some Econ)
2 years teaching, 3 years as school analytics leader (NYC charter). Mostly informal ECs (campaign volunteering, video production, musician)
Red flag: left role 08/21 to pivot into EdTech, but am currently unemployed. Post-MBA: targeting PM in EdTech or social sector consulting.
What would you say are my chances at the schools I've applied to? What are my chances of getting into at least one of these schools?
Appreciate your thoughts!
Hey Everyone,
Thank you for all the good info this cycle and am fortunate to have some good news. However, I am conflicted between Johnson (w/partial Scholarship) and McDonough. My main point of concern is options for my spouse to work and the cost of the two programs being relatively similar with the scholarship is taken into account. Do you think it is worth asking McDonough for some scholarship money? I am also waitlisted at Duke Fuqua and have accepted my spot on the list.
Post Career goal is Consulting (Not MBB or die but MBB or B4). I am completely switching careers so am trying to balance what I know about each school and their employment reports.
Thank you for the help!

GPA: 7.8 from top IIT in Industrial Management and Engineering
GMAT: 760 (Q50, V42, IR8, AWA6)
WE: 1.5 years experience as a consultant at KPMG and 2.5 years experience as a product manager at a unicorn
EC: Volunteer at large CSR organization in India, former national level tennis player
Why MBA: To move into a tier one management consulting firm in the usa.
My goal is to live in and work in the USA rather than India because of the higher wages and higher standard of living. As I am international, I am only looking at STEM programs.
I understand that my chances of getting an H1B are high after 3 cycles, but my chances of getting a green card as an Indian are almost 0. (This article says the current wait time for Indians is approximately 195 years, versus 6 months - 2 years for most other nationalities https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2021/03/01/immigration-bill-shows-need-to-end-employment-based-immigrant-backlog/?sh=96ef981271af). As such, in addition to looking for an MBA program that meets my career needs, I want to also consider a program where I can find a husband to help with the potential green card issue, so programs with a low % of female students and low % of international students may be best.
Here's what I'm thinking:
Reach: HBS, Wharton, CBS
Target: Kellogg, Booth, SOM, Fuqua
Safety: Tepper, McDonough, Mendoza, KF
Thoughts?
If I had my way, our D pairings would be as follows:
Bobby Orr - Doug Harvey, Nick Lidstrom - Ray Bourque, Brian Leetch - Chris Chelios
Oh wait, this isn't an all time thing... okay...
My pairings would be:
Adam Fox - Victor Hedman, Cale Makar - Roman Josi, Jacob Trouba - Ryan McDonough (yes, I'm a homer)
Oh what, there's a salary cap?
Okay... in that case I guess my pairings would be:
Fox - Lindgren, Trouba - Miller, who ever we can get at a decent price
Turns out, the real world reality for pairings isn't based on whatever goes... what we're actually talking about is picking teams in gym class dodgeball, with about 200 guys playing, with a salary cap attached... yes, you'll get a couple of good ones, but after when you get to the bottom 1/3 it's gonna be pretty much the same... most of you would be the "i forgot my gym clothes today, so i'm gonna sit this one out!" crowd...
we complained about holden, we complained about staal, we complained about hajek, we complained about smith, we complained about johnson... the issue is they are all 3rd pairing guys, not that they are considerably worse than other 3rd pairings around the league...
WHY DID COLORADO SIGN JOHNSON? because we're talking about a limited number of bodies and guess what, given the price and the availability he was the a good fit...
WHY CAN'T WE BENCH NEMETH?! Okay I'm sure your fingers don't get tired a when you're working that controller hard in NHL2kwhatever... but if you bench a guy in a back to back game there are repercussions that are worse than having him on the ice...
First of all, as someone who is benched, it really fucking takes a toll on your confidence... some guys, using their sports psychology knowledge can get over that, others not so much... and if you're the type of player who is on the verge of being benched, i'm guessing applying sports psychology and responding to the challenge by locking it in, isn't going to be your next move...
Second, and more importantly, when everyone else is picking up time and getting tired as a result, instead of one pairing that might be shakey while they're on every like 5th minute of the game... you'll have 3 pairings that are struggling to keep up... addition by subtraction is a thing that i highlight every time when any of the teams i've played with removes a non-contributor, it sometimes even makes the flow better for the rest of the team, because there's less waiting around... but on the flip-side, you're potentially gass

Hi, I applied to these schools in round 2, and while my GPA/GRE may look under indexed, I had glowing LORs/story (First generation grad from an unstable country etc). Just wanna check if i have a chance here, or should i start looking at T-50 schools.

Good pickup after Gill decided to go pro. I'd expect him to be the guy next year.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
From former Suns GM Ryan McDonough:

Hey there, folks. Thanks for all the words of encouragement on my previous post. I decided to go for it and take the Niro from Atlanta to Savannah, then to Hilton Head Island and back to Atlanta. It's about a 10hr round trip in an ICE vehicle. Here are some thoughts and highlights of our trip:
We departed around 9am on Saturday 12/18 with two adults and a tween, a trunk/hatch full of luggage, and 100% battery charge. We plotted the trip on abetterrouteplanner.com, but I was not really committed to sticking to it (more on this at the end). I planned to do some Level 2 charging once we reached both of our destinations. (Turns out most of that was completely unnecessary).
First stop was a ChargePoint DC charger in Dublin, GA. Some observations during that first leg: The Niro is quite an awesome little ride! I typically use it for in-town driving, and have never driven for more than about 30min at a time in stop/go traffic. I also know that the comfort, features and amenities are likely identical to those on the ICE version of this car. But, all the bells and whistles are new to me. I haven't driven a NEW new car since 2005. Adaptive cruise control and the lane-keeping were all types of cool! Especially in those moments when you sort of zone-out a bit while you're driving. The computer definitely reacts more quickly and safely to things like someone quickly braking or changing lanes in front of me. We didn't need heat or A/C, so I can't speak to road-tripping with those on (70 degree weather both there and back). We hit Dublin at about noon with 40%-ish on the battery. There was one CCS/Chademo DC charger, and one Level 2. A fellow 2021 Kia Niro driver was hooked up when we arrived, so we parked and waited for about 20min. The other driver had some problems disconnecting. The app would not allow a stop-charging request, and the pistol (unsure about that term) would not disengage. After helping him futz with it for a minute, it seems like you needed to press the release button once to stop charging and a second time to release the pistol. Great to practice on someone else's car! We hooked up and charged to 90%, did lunch, bathroom, leg-stretching, and then on to Savannah.
At this point, I should say that all of my range anxiety disappeared. The Dublin experience was so smooth, and there were enough Level 2 chargers littered around the interstate that I felt pretty reassured. We arrived in Savannah

"Later on May 23, within an hour after the Blackhawks won the playoff game that secured their place in the Stanley Cup Finals, five members of senior management (then-President John McDonough, MacIsaac, General Manager Stan Bowman, then-Executive Vice President Jay Blunk, and then-Assistant General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff), along with then-head coach Joel Quenneville, and Gary, met to discuss what had been learned about Aldrich and John Doe. Accounts of the meeting vary significantly, and the participants had limited recollections of the details of the meeting. All of the participants recalled being informed that there was an incident between Aldrich and John Doe involving an unwelcome sexual advance, but, for the most part, the participants reported that they only learned about the incident at a high levelβthat Aldrich, a coach, tried to βget under the sheetsβ with John Doe, a player. Gary recalled telling everyone in the meeting what he said John Doe told himβthat Aldrich was pressuring John Doe to have sex with him and that Aldrich told John Doe that if John Doe did not submit to Aldrichβs advances, he could harm John Doeβs career. None of the participants recalled being told about the type of clearly non-consensual sexual conduct that is described by John Doe in his lawsuit or was described during John Doeβs interview with us." (page 5)
Bowman recalled that during the meeting, McDonough and Quenneville made comments about the challenge of getting to the Stanley Cup Finals and a desire to focus on the team and the playoffs. Several years later, MacIsaac, in discussing the situation between Aldrich and John Doe with another Blackhawks employee, stated that McDonough did not want any negative publicity during the Stanley Cup Finals. While there was a general failure to recall how the meeting ended, Bowman recalled a statement by McDonough, the most senior member of management in the room, that he would handle the situation. Regardless of who was, or was perceived to be, responsible for handling the situati
