Hi r/London,
I'm part of Virtual Quizzes - myself and some friends started an online pub quiz during the first COVID lockdown, as volunteers wanting to help raise money for good causes. We first raised Β£2,500 for the NHS COVID appeal, then raised a further Β£1,500 for three different charities close to our hearts (SpecialEffect, Mermaids & LOROS). We have recently rotated again to supporting ZSL, whose income was decimated during lockdown, and a to-be-confirmed mental health charity.
Obviously, with lockdown restrictions slowly ending, it's going to be really challenging to compete with Real Life - but given how much we've enjoyed doing the quiz and also raising money for charity during lockdown (that and it's not every week) we're going to keep the quiz going after lockdown ends, and wanted to see if there might be any interested casual quizzers fancy joining in and watching/playing!
You can play at home crowded around a TV, on a Zoom/Google/Teams call or even on our very own community Discord server - as long as you're having fun, it doesn't matter - and it's all for a good cause! We ask those who can afford to donate, to donate the cost of a pint down their local pub per person, to one of or all of the charities we're supporting (directly to the charity via JustGiving, we don't receive any money at any point and are doing the quiz on a pure volunteer basis).
When: Friday 07/May/2020 (The 1st & 3rd Fridays of every month)
Where: http://www.twitch.tv/jorosar
Participate: Answer sheets and quiz information all on http://www.virtual-quizzes.com (Top right dropdown menu will be opened when the quiz starts)
Below is our teaser to share on social media for this week if you fancy trying to work it out! :) Feel free to DM me your answer on Reddit or socials (I'm at JoRoSaR on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram) and I'll respond.
Hope you're having a great long weekend, and hopefully see some of you on Friday!

I've been invited to a pub quiz by some British people, and the whole thing is organised by Brits, too.
What should I take into account? How can I prepare? I would assume many of the questions would be related to the UK (politics, the Royal family, football etc)
EDIT: Thank you for your replies! I'll come back here to report how the Pub Quiz went. :)
EDIT2: Alright, pub quiz over. Our team was last! :D Although there were 3 British people in my team. Eight rounds (no sports!), including two involving pictures (e.g. had to name famous pairs kissing) and one music (had to write down the next 5 words in the lyrics of a song). We also encountered some injustice in the form of PASTA: gnocchi is not pasta, so it couldn't have been the right answer when asking which PASTA means something something...! But, we all had a good time. :) Will attend again.
I can see them sitting there on their phone and I know they are not just 'texting their mate.'
Leaving my company and want to part by giving them a bit of cross-Europe banter.
Not too far off what that guy did with his Swedish colleagues, but more in a nostalgic.
Thoughts on questions so far include
And for prizes, so far a Jar of Marmite for winners, and for the booby prize: a photo of a painting of Copenhagen burning to the ground with 'DON'T GET TOO COCKY' written on the back.
Any ideas for questions, prizes, format for me to make it truly British and/or wind them up as much as possible?
A what ? You dummy.
