My name is Thad David and I'm a former Recon Marine Sniper during the Iraq War. A couple years ago I was contracted to do security work of the cost of Africa, basically scaring away pirates. Maybe I’m just subcategorizing too far, but it seems to me these types of songs have a very unique sound (piano and horns with electric guitar, clean, complex percussion, etc.) that doesn’t fit with classic rock, isn’t new wave music, and certainly doesn’t fit in with the hair metal that evolved in the mid-1980s. Does this type of music have a genre or a name for the period?
