A list of puns related to "Adaptations of A Christmas Carol"
How many of them have they made now? Too many anyways.
I think almost everyone knows the story by now, Scrooge, a mean, money loving man is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. He learns to be more kind and by the end of the film he embraces the Christmas spirit. And a big happily ever after.
From what i've seen anyways basically no film deviates from any of the main plot points of the story. It was fine the first time, and a few times after that, as film making technology has progressed quite a lot since the first time in 1901, but by now visual changes are marginal and it's pretty much the exact same film repackaged again and again.
For god's sake, I don't think anybody wants another one of these films we could probably recite to you the script before you had even considered making it in the first place it's that predictable. So unless you are going to drastically reinvent the entire story stop being lazy and come up with a less bland and more original Christmas film idea
The Muppets seem to be once again fading into obscurity.
The 2011 revival with The Muppets returned them to the spotlight briefly but Muppets Most Wanted, while good, didn't seem to draw audiences and the momentum started to putter out. The ABC show was cancelled before it could really find its footing, and then the Henson Company spent an exorbitant amount of time and energy on The Happytime Murders which was just a train wreck.
So where do the Muppets go from here if they want to stay relevant? I say they need to go back to the 90s.
The audiences that grew up with the original Muppet Trilogy and the Muppet Show are not the only audiences anymore. Millennials are more likely to have fond memories of Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island because those were the Muppet movies we were familiar with.
Also, one of the best things about the Muppets to me has always been the way they get billed as themselves. The Muppet Christmas Carol marketing lists "Micheal Cain, Kermit the Frog, Gonzo the Great" etc. I always thought that was such a neat idea. These aren't just characters, the Henson Company goes out of the way to make them feel consistently real off-camera. They appear as guests on talk shows, they show up as themselves on SNL, everyone speaks of them as if they are any other celebrity. I think they should lean into that more.
So start doing more adaptations again. Have a star as the main character, another as the main antagonist, then use the Muppets "as actors" to fill out the rest of the cast and "Muppetize" the story. I feel like that sort of sillyness is something audiences will be more receptive too right now than attempts to tell more modern day Muppet stories.
What did you guys think?

Over the years, there as been a ton of adaptions. Which one is your favorite? Personally, my favorite is the Disney version where Scrooge McDuck was Ebenezer and Mickey was Bob. Iβm also a big fan of The Muppets Christmas Carol (Even though it is pretty cheesy, the songs are absolute bangers though). So, which one is your favorite? The Jim Carey CGI one? The 30s version? Itβs a Wonderful Life (Iβm counting it), etc.
Just as the title says. If you don't know the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Cratchit, acquaint yourself because it's so ridiculously relevant.
That's all. Happy holidays everybody.
(Giving the boss absolutely nothing is also an option, but if you feel obligated, my idea works. π)
Some scenes I remember from this film: Tyra films a video clip for her cover of "sleigh ride". Flashback scenes include the same song sung by her and her girl band members that she afterwards left behind when she got famous. As appropriate to an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" she is very grumpy most of the time.
It ran on TV so many times in my childhood (up to mid 2000s?), but I'm from Israel so I can't really tell when it was made. Neither IMDB was nor the "Adaptations of A Christmas Carol" were helpful :/ I'm starting to question whether it starred Tyra Banks at all, but I'm like 99% sure.
I actually just posted this as a comment on a story in another sub and thought it would fit here as well.
My Grandmother used to have a HUGE collection of bells. China, silver, pewter, gold, well over 100 bells. One day I asked her about the bells and she sighed and said - well that's a story.
Turned out that one day when one of my aunts was young, aunt gave Gran a bell for Christmas. Gran - being a good Mum- made much of the bell. Showing it to everyone and making sure to display it on the cabinet in the dining room. Now I have a lot of aunts and uncles. Somehow, 1 bell turned into 2 and then into 4 ..6..10.. every Christmas, birthday, Mothers day, Gran would be presented with a plethora of bells! At first she was amused. Then resigned to a lifetime of bells. As we gazed at her massive collection that lined the walls, she leaned in close and whispered - i hate bells! After we both finished howling with laughter , i told her she was going to have to be brave and break it to the assorted relatives to stop with the clangers! Enough already! Which she did.
The next year, one of her loving daughters presented her with a very beautiful bird ornament for her Christmas tree. Gran made much of the bird, and made sure to display it on her tree for all to see....... 10 years later , i was visiting and she showed me her birds. On the tree, covering the walls, lining her shelves. It was Alfred Hitchcock in a technicolour rainbow and almost made you wish for the bells back!
Gran sighed deeply, leaned in close and whispered- I really hate birds!
So I binge all Christmas Carol adaptions every year and i'm pretty much out of them. From random ones to low budget ones to musicals etc.
What i'm trying to find are some newer ones made for last year/ this year?
I know of all or most already made so no need for those, just ones that maybe were released and not highly promoted.
Any help is appreciated.
