115 minutes. What a movie, what a performance by Gian Maria Volente and what a unique take on a philosophical debate that was laid out originally by Kafka in his novel Before the Law.
As far as the movie is concerned, we see an excellent homicide detective during the last days of his duty in homicide. He is getting promoted to a more prominent post as head of a unit that looks to wrangle political protesting. Privately, He is having a very emotionally abusive affair with a woman who constantly berates his prowess as a man, a cop and a lover. One day he is pushed too far, murders her, and does everything he can to be found guilty. But, no matter how much evidence points to him being the murderer he simply cannot be convicted by his peers. There is a near supernatural obfuscation that prohibits them from seeing him as someone who is capable of committing the crime.
Gian Maria Volente is awesome in the lead role. He reminded me a lot of Joaquin Phoenix, both in physicality as well as the way he used his voice. This role required someone who was capable of believing they were superior to everyone around them, completely above the law, and switching to a childlike innocence for a few critical scenes. He pulled it off and it was a very memorable performance.
Now, quickly on the ending. The whole movie plays with cutting between time and creates a loose foundation of reality, but that is really magnified in the last 60 seconds as I felt completely pulled into a metaphor. As the entire police leadership comes into Volenteβs house to question him about his guilt a quote pops up from a parable Kafkaβs laid out called βBefore the Lawβ. Without going into excruciating detail, the premise is that in a dialog between someone upholding the law and someone looking to inquire into the law, lies and deceit cover every discussion and interaction. It becomes impossible to separate the career advancement, sense of duty and interpretation of the law from the law keeper and impossible to understand if the citizen is ultimately a superior or in deference to the law keeper.
This tension, and uncertainty, is the central theme of the film and I think Director and Writer Petri does a fantastic job of creating a live story that takes a deeper l

I have been single for almost two years now after quite a lengthy long term relationship. During the spring I started dating again. I was happy to find that my fears of being unable to find anyone to date due to my age are totally unfounded.
Though the various guys I met a long the way were very nice. I just couldn't seem to find a genuine connection. I do not feel bad about it. I decided to take a break, and Uninstall the dating apps.
I grow tired, bagged, fagged, and shagged explaining who I am to random people. Within this sabbatical from the cold blue light that mystically grants you dates with various random men. I realized that I was somewhat lonely.
I decided to install grindr. Oh yes my friends. Oh yes indeed grindr.
Now I am not so shallow as to think that my personality or interests matter in anyway shape or form on such a platform. That is why I have been working out pretty heavily since becoming single. It worked.
After signing on I was attracting, and talking to the type of guys I specifically wanted to. They were talking back. I had made the grain, and the papers wanted to know who's shirts I wear etc.
So what was the problem?
The whole thing just makes me nervous. I do not like it. The idea of inviting someone over to my house I do not even know to have sex. The idea is just anxiety provoking. At the very least I would like to meet up l, and maybe talk a bit. Then go back to my house.... aka the stabbin cabin.
Nobody seems to be interested in that. I then began to slowly lose one by one. The various guys that I was talking to. One guy telling me.... this is grindr. I realized he was correct.
I hate the fact that this makes me uncomfortable. I want to do this. I feel like I need to do this. I want to feel the warmth. I want to taste the life. How the hell do you do this?
For trade.

>The Winter rites of 62 BC were hosted by Pompeia, wife of Julius Caesar, senior magistrate in residence and pontifex maximus. Publius Clodius Pulcher, a popularist politician and ally of Caesar, was said to have intruded, dressed as a woman and intent on the hostess's seduction. As the rites had been vitiated, the Vestals were obliged to repeat them, and after further inquiry by the senate and pontifices, Clodius was charged with desecration, which carried a death sentence. Cicero, whose wife Terentia had hosted the previous year's rites, testified for the prosecution.[24]
>Caesar publicly distanced himself from the affair as much as possible β and certainly from Pompeia, whom he divorced because "Caesar's wife must be above suspicion".[25] He had been correctly absent from the rites but as a paterfamilias he was responsible for their piety. As pontifex maximus, he was responsible for the ritual purity and piety of public and private religion. He had the responsibility to ensure that the Vestals had acted correctly, then chair the inquiry into what were essentially his own household affairs. Worse, the place of the alleged offense was the state property lent to every pontifex maximus for his tenure of office.[26] It was a high profile, much commented case. The rites remained officially secret, but many details emerged during and after the trial, and remained permanently in the public domain. They fueled theological speculation, as in Plutarch and Macrobius: and they fed the prurient male imagination β given their innate moral weakness, what might women do when given wine and left to their own devices? Such anxieties were nothing new, and underpinned Rome's traditional strictures against female autonomy. In the political and social turmoil of the Late Republic, Rome's misfortunes were taken as signs of divine anger against the personal ambition, religious negligence and outright impiety of her leading politicians.
>Clodius' prosecution was at least partly driven by politics. In an otherwise seemingly thorough account, Cicero makes no mention of Bona Dea's May festival, and claims the goddess' cult as an aristocratic privilege from the first; the impeccably patrician Clodius, Cicero's social superior by birth, is presented as an innately impious, low-class oaf, and his popularist policies as threats to Rome's moral and religious security. After two years of legal wrangling, Clodius was acquitted β which Cicer
