Is there a way to see if a CPU is using the AES-NI instruction set?
Just wondered if there was a utility of some kind to see if the AES-NI portion of a CPU is doing anything, and the degree of utilization.

As part of RustCrypto project I've implemented AES block ciphers using AES-NI instruction set:
It's written using asm! inline assembly, so no need for additional compilers (depending on definition you can even call it "pure Rust"), but unfortunately it results in requirement of nightly Rust. The crate is intended as a low-level building block, so it does not have: CPUID detection, AES-NI-less fallback option, block modes implementation. In future I plan to use it in the aes crate which will have a bit sliced implementation inherited from rust-crypto and runtime detection of AES-NI availability.
Additionally I am happy to mention that /u/bascule uses this crate in his miscreant project: a misuse resistant symmetric encryption library.
Edit: I've added check_aesni function for specialized CPUID feature detection, but it was not yet tested on AES-NI-less CPUs.
What makes the AES instruction set so much faster? Would ASICs be even faster than a CPU with the same amount of chip area dedicated to AES instructions?
AES-NI Instruction Set Help?
I have a g3420 (Doesn't have AES-NI) and I have encrypted my hard drive. I am using Arch (Linux Distro). If I switched to AES-NI enabled processor, will I see a significant increase in disk performance or any other performance? I mainly use my desktop for cuda and web development.
From what I know, AES-NI has a massively significant boost in "batch" Encryption. I hardly to never ever do batch encryption, so I am unsure if I should sell my G3420 (Doesn't have AES-NI) and buy the cheapest i3.

3 days ago I set up my 40 gallons aquarium (plenty of plants, a filter with media and air pump) and I added Seachem stability bacteria following the instructions. This morning I woke up and discovered that the pump was dead. Did this interruption (a few hours) bother the cycling process? Thanks

Can anyone provide a detailed set of instructions for a total noob on Manjaro to get a Windows 10 gaming VM set up?
I have fully switched to Linux on my main rig for a few weeks now, but am really missing some of the games I used to play on Linux.
I have a lot of applications I run like Plex and homebridge that I run on Linux so dual booting isn’t very convenient. I’d like to get a vm set up to play the few games that are unsupported, but play everything else natively in Linux to help support the growing community.
I can see that some people are able to use KVM and VFIO to get single gpu pass through working, but I can’t find a complete guide for Manjaro KDE that walks me through this step by step.
Does anyone know of a guide I might be missing or is able to help walk me through?

Out of all my Potter Lego sets, this was the only one kind enough to have a separate section for the instructions.
Go into setting in a vehicle on rec rally and go to gameplay go to comfort mode and set it to OFF thats good for VR players follow the instructions if you are on VR using rec rally

ARM instruction set architecture
I am designing a AMBA complaint DMA controller for a arm based processor . This DMAC uses instruction set to perform it's operation. The instructions are fetched from the system memory using the AXI bus and decoded and executed inside the DMAC.
They have listed down the various instructions that the DMAC uses. Is it possible to design the ISA similar to what we do for RISC-V , if we have only the list of instructions ?
If,yes , how can I go ahead with the implementation ?
