A list of puns related to "2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series"
I want to know your favorite moments from when the Xfinity Series was known as the Nationwide Series! 2007 to 2015. Finishes, crashes, interviews, feuds, commentary, crowd reactions! Let's hear em, and put a video link with em too!
I am Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Last Friday, I won my first NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Texas and I am currently first in the series standings. Ask me anything!
I will be driving in the Sport Clips 200 at Darlington Raceway this Friday at 8 PM ET on ESPN2.
NOTE: Chase will begin taking questions at approximately 10:30 AM ET
Proof: If you had any doubts: https://twitter.com/JRMotorsports/status/454266030479900672
Edit: Thanks for all the questions -- I enjoyed it. Sorry I wasn't able to get to all of them -- I'm a slow typer! Hope to see you at a race soon! βce
Warning: This is all hypothetical so please no "they would have raced differently!!!" comments.
As a Ryan Blaney fan, I always wondered "what if" Roger Penske fielded him full time in the Nationwide/Xfinity Series for a championship. Well today, I decided to take some time and see how it would've played out.
In 2014, Ryan Blaney only ran 14 of the 33 Nationwide Series races.
Ryan Blaney vs Chase Elliott 2014 Statistics
As you can see by the chart above, Ryan Blaney scored 20 more points then the eventual 2014 Nationwide Series champion during their 2014 head to head races.
However, with 19 other races throughout the season, those 20 points don't mean very much. That's one DNF for Blaney and a solid top 10 from Chase to the points lead being changed.
So what I did was I took the races Blaney ran in the 2015 season that he did not run in the 2014 (same tracks were run during both seasons) and compared them to Elliott's 2014 stats.
Ryan Blaney's 2015 Statistics compared to Chase Elliott's 2014 Statistics
While I know the races were in different seasons and would have played out differently if Blaney was in said field during 2014, it was all I could use as a measuring stick. Like I said before this is all hypothetical and just out of my own curiosity.
But as you can see, Ryan Blaney once again scored more points and had a better average finish the Chase Elliott.
With these races, I can compare 22 of the 33 races/tracks ran in the 2014 season. Here is how the two stack up.
Ryan Blaney vs Chase Elliott through 22/33 races
So here is the question I have for you guys, do you think Ryan Blaney could have held onto the 51 point lead throughout the other 11 tracks he never raced at and have beaten Chase Elliott for the 2014 Nationwide Series Championship?

Will a driver ever accomplish the feat of winning the Cup, Nationwide, and Trucks championships?
As of now, five drivers have won championships in two of the three national series. They are:
-Greg Biffle (Nationwide - 2002, Trucks - 2000)
-Bobby Labonte (Cup - 2000, Nationwide - 1991)
-Brad Keselowski (Cup - 2012, Nationwide - 2010)
-Johnny Benson (Nationwide - 1995, Trucks - 2008)
-Austin Dillon (Nationwide - 2013, Trucks - 2011)

LONG POST INCOMING: So I have been calculating these points all season because I thought it would be an interesting take on how the 2014 season went in all 3 of NASCAR's top divisions. Hopefully I will also be able to post the final results for Sprint Cup after the race on Sunday as well. These points were calculated using the 2014 Formula 1 Points Distributions (1st-25, 2nd-18, 3rd-15, 4th-12, 5th-10, 6th-8, 7th-6, 8th-4, 9th-2, and 10th-1) and also calculates in the double points for the final event like what F1 is doing with the Abu Dhabi race. I also left in drivers who were not eligible for Nationwide points under the current NASCAR system for consistency's sake. So anyways, here's the final standings.

Friday Night Drinking Game:
Take a drink every time ESPN2 mentions Danica Patrick or Travis Pastrana when they aren't in the top 5.
Chug any time they appear on screen together.
Saw no mention of it on the subreddit, and I barely heard about it a few hours ago. Don't forget to tune in!
