Eric Woodyard on Twitter:
> [Woodyard] Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo called Utah "the best team in the West" following tonight's loss. "It just looks fun," Giannis said. "When I watch them play, it looks easy, it looks simple. For, sure, they look like us last year."
>On the eve of his 2020-21 NBA preseason finale in December, Victor Oladipo participated in a funeral for his injured knee.
>
>The service was held to say goodbye to an injury mindset, which was weighing on the two-time All-Star guard's pursuit of fully recovering from a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee that required surgery in 2019.
>
>"I was feeling better, but my mind was so used to protecting me -- and being hesitant because of my leg -- that I had created a habit of doing that," Oladipo told ESPN. "And burying my injury and letting myself know that I'm healed, I'm stronger than ever before, it gave me the courage, the strength to actually go out there and perform and not think about the leg. Not defer as much.
>
>"That was definitely huge for my process, especially my mental health process."
> "It's kind of hard because in the NBA, the way it's built, they want you to flop," Antetokounmpo said of playing physically. "It wants you to be weak, kind of, because sometimes I think when you're strong and you're going through contact, they don't call the foul. But when you're flopping and kind of going into the contact and throwing the ball out, they're just going to call foul, but that's not who I am, that's not what I'm gonna do.
> "I'm just gonna try to power through contact. It's going to be ... where if a guy grabs me or pushes me, I've got to show it more, but I think I've done a better job of showing it more so the refs can see that the guys are holding me, pushing me and just being physical."
>"I'd be remiss if I didn't come on here and mention the amazing work that men of color are doing in this world. Not only in every other sport and through social justice and every other part of this world and in the organization or whatever the case may be, but for basketball," Towns said. "For what my job is, there's a lot of amazing men of color out there that deserve the opportunity to lead a team and to run an organization and have a chance to make their mark in this league not with a jersey on but with a suit on. And, I say that with meaning.
>"But, like I said, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the amazing work David Vanterpool has put in, and as a man who looks like me, I can't wait to see him get a job where he can flourish and be a head coach and run a team," he continued. "We're so honored and blessed to have him here on this coaching staff and get to continue learning from him and soak up all the wisdom and experience he has from playing professional and also from being a coach. And, with all that experience and with all that wisdom and just knowledge, it makes us that much better as a team, it makes us that much better as a coaching staff and it makes our new head coach, it just gives him so many weapons."
>"As a man of color myself, you would love to see more coaches that resemble what me and you look like on the sidelines, but you've got to support the organization in everything you do and understand," Towns said. "I understand how everything is, but at the end of the day, the organization made the choice that they felt was best for this organization and you've got to be a professional in all of this.
>"You've got to be a professional down the line," he said. "So, when the decision was made, my mind, just because of how many times I've dealt with this, just adjusted and came to an adjustment mode and just wanted to welcome our new coach and try to be here as much as possible for him and lean on each other to get through this adjustment period for both of us."
The Lakers are playing in Chicago tomorrow night. After practice today, he surprised members of his alma mater, Perspectives Charter School, at LuLuβs Hot Dogs on behalf of Nike. He took some questions, which led to this interesting comment.

So we all by now know what Woodyard said in regards to who called the AFC Championship game. So whatβs everyoneβs opinion? For me itβs simple Vrabel made the decision to make the calls because he was unsure on Dans ability. We got skull dragged the first game that season and it was Mahomes first game back. He is the coach and I think he is doing fine. Though he has a bar set, injuries depending, that we must be a 9+ win team this year.

> Giannis Antetokounmpo says LeBron is βdifferent. Heβs an alien,β for being able to perform at this level approaching age 35. βItβs crazy. Itβs insane. Obviously for me, thatβs one of my goals to be able to play at a high level for the next 10 years,β he said.
Giannis showing high praise/respect for LeBron.
This is difficult for me to post, as it will only further the reputation a select few Jazz fans have given to Utahans and the Jazz organization as a whole, but it needs to be posted. We need to be aware of what is happening at sporting events and be prepared to condemn it. I'm both disappointed that this is a Jazz fan and an NBA fan. It gives us all a bad name and is embarrassing to be a part of. Racism has no place in the NBA and our arenas, let alone the world at all. Fuck bad, racist fans.

Edit: Jazz fans on Reddit and Twitter are matching the Russell Westbrook fine with donations towards humanitarian efforts. Feel free to join in even if you're not a Jazz fan. All love.
