A list of puns related to "Winter Hike"
I know there are people out there who are interested in some cold weather camping but maybe don't feel comfortable going alone, or don't have the know-how to do it alone.
Do you lack experience? Not a problem. We'll teach you.
Lack some gear? We've got it, and you can use it.
Lack friends? We could be who you're looking for!
If you enjoy camping in the summer/fall and are ready to try something new, you're invited.
Edit: Getting overwhelmed with responses so be patient. I will respond to all of you!
Hello all,
I moved to Scotland 6 months ago and did the West Highland way when I arrived. I have to use my annual leave before the end of March or it gets paid out and I have 11 days to use.
Any recommendations on a multi day hike that would be good to do in winter? Ideally Wild camping but open to suggestions. If it could be around a week or so that would be good too but can be shorter or longer for the right walk.
Looking forward to your suggestions!
I'm looking to go on a 20-30 mile trip in the southern Appalachians (Virginia or below) in early January. What trails should I consider? Ideally I'm looking for something with lots of exposed, wide mountain views.
Also something I could turn into a loop would be nice.
Thanks!
Headed out to Asheville for a hike next week. Was planning on Mitchell but I heard the conditions have shut down the main summit trail. Iβve hiked a lot of mountains in VT in the winter but this will be my first NC one. Hoping to summit, get a good workout in, have about a 6 hour up and down adventure. Iβve got poles and micro spikes, but not bringing my snowshoes.
What are yβallβs reccs?
Do you guys wear snow pants for winter hikes? Like it itβs cold and snowy but just going for a day hike for like 5-10 miles would you wear them?
Never been hiking in the winter.
Keep in mind these are hiking areas, not specific trails or routes. For example, at Hessie Trailhead you can branch off to at least a half dozen routes. But this will be a good start to research more specific trails to get on. Definitely recommend more - I know there's a ton more out there I haven't found yet.
Most of these hikes are accessible year round, but you might need 4WD. A few might be snowed in. Always check before you go!

About the start of January. Got microspikes. Good idea?
Edit: The general conclusion is, it is a bad idea. Thank you SLC.
Hi there! My boyfriend and I live in the Southern Adirondacks about a 50 minute drive from Speculator. We want to start winter hiking with some smaller mountains or trails but aren't sure where to start. Every google search brings up high peaks, but we aren't at that level yet and would love some recommendations for easy trails or mountains to hike in the winter with our dog.
Thanks in advance!
Hi all!
In search of some new places to take our snow-loving adventurer this winter. I love exploring new neighborhoods and trails with her and would love your suggestions for some places you love walking/hiking with your pup in the winter!
Any good winter day hikes from Denver you'd guys recommend for next week? I'd like to get above treeline but not be toooo technical. Just microspikes and potentially snow shoes a bit.
I wanted to go on a birthday hike today but the freezing rain had other ideas. Rescheduling it but havenβt really decided where to go yet. Any suggestions on a good beginner/easy hike or trail to do this time of year? Preferably with good river/waterfall spots, similar to dianaβs baths or purgatory would be great.
Potential hikes around Charlottesville that are safe for winter? My only concern is would be ice. Thanks
I know that in the fall and summer the bean and bear lake hike is pretty dope. I was wondering what are your guys' favorite hikes in the winter that are fun and pretty!
Looking for a good winter hike, ideally something challenging that will take all day. Equipment isnβt a problem, good views are always a plus.
