All they have to do is say I care abit about the environment and the news reporters giggle and clap like seals. How is this enough to make the British public forget they are hiding a paedo? Some of my relatives are actually eating this nonsense and just told me not to criticise them when they are trying to save the world how is this working? They arnt even saying it in a convincing way 💀
This is not about being the most famous, but about generally being regarded as the most well-loved.
It might be a generational thing, with Chuck being such a focalpoint of the very popular 'Inside the NBA', but people on here, other sports related subreddits, YouTube etc seem to discuss Charles in a positive way that anyone else I can think of.
I'm not sure what generations older than say 50 think about Chuck; they might remember him only as a player and not a TV personality.
Sort of a random question on something I was wondering. I understand that the monarch is the head of the Church of England, and I do know that Queen Elizabeth is very devout. But when I think of Prince Charles, I mostly think of the environment, and when I think of Prince William, I think of mental health and the Football Association. Are either of the two men in line for the throne particularly religious? I wonder how they might be as heads of the CofE. Does anybody have any insights in particular on that?
It was the top picture of Charles Monroe smiling on The Charley Project link that caught my attention, and when I read the case, I wanted to share.
Charles Monroe Jr. was better known by CW, and that's how I'll respectfully refer to him the rest of this write up. He lived and grew up in Loudon County, Virginia. He lived in an apartment that he'd converted from a barn to an apartment and workshop. It was located on a property his family owned.
The last time anyone spoke to CW was on May 7th, 2005. It was in the early morning hours of May 8th that his residence caught fire. Fire Fighters responded to the Edgewood Farm block of Loudoun County. A nearby neighbor by the name of Ronald Brence saw the engulfed residence and ran over to the home where he horrifically heard CW's dogs "howling in agony" and though he wanted to help, all he could do was circle the home and the intense blaze. The home/workshop was burned completely to the ground. They began sifting through the rubble and no cause for the fire could be determined. Remains, presumably bone fragments, were found and full funeral arrangements were made.
But on October 2005 the Loudon County Sheriff's Office reported CW missing as the remains that were found were all of his 3 beloved dogs. There were no trace of CW's remains after the fire. Sergeant Jamie Koontz does not feel that CW's remains would have been completely incinerated considering the dog's were not.
CW was 34 years old the night of the fire. He was described by family and friends as a "free spirit" and "without a care in the world". He had no known enemies and though he's somewhat kept to himself, he did have friends.
He did not drive from what I could see he possibly didn't have a driver's license. But it was also stated that he never repaired a truck of his and he had friends that would carry him to and from work. His three dogs a Rottweiler a pitbull and a mutt mix were cherished by him.
His family is somewhat divided on their opinion of what could have happened. Some believe he did perish in the fire, as he would have had nowhere else to go and he loved his dogs and would not set a fire to harm them. Nor would he leave them behind.
His father suspects foul play and because CW did not have a bank account or credit cards and kept cash money around, his father believes he might have been robbed then killed and removed from the home before the fire was set.

Preface - Just some notes to start off with: we’re starting at 1784 even though there are earlier elections because 1784 is seen as the first British election where national rather than local issues dominated. Because there are not manifestos available from these really early elections I’ll be combining the background and issues section. For those of you that don’t want to read my walls of text I’ll try to include summaries of each issue in bold. Finally on political parties - they are much more loose than in modern times. Generally “Tories” originated from MPs who saw the Monarch as the supreme ruler of the country, the name originates from Catholic robbers in Ireland due to the Tories support of the continuation of the Stuart line of Catholic Monarchs. The Whigs supported the more distant but Protestant Hannover line and believed that Parliament held supremacy over the crown. But at this point neither is an identifiable party. Pitt is usually seen as a “Tory” but calls himself an “independent Whig” and next week he’ll be arguing for the supremacy of Parliament while Fox, leader of the Whigs will support the power of the Crown Prince. The label Tory will become more synonymous with those who oppose the radicalism of the French and American revolutions, vice-versa for the Whigs.

The 1790 election was another victory for William Pitt, who saw his share of seats in Parliament increase by 60, from a working majority to a much more solid one. Fox’s supporters also gained 28 seats, however as we’ll see later this is reduced by splits and defections.

This week will be dominated with Britain’s relationship with France. As discussed last week France went into revolt in 1789 and many of Britain’s upper classes supported the Revolution as France’s own Glorious Revolution. However, support for the Revolution dwindles due to the Revolution turning into “The Terror” and in part due to the influential writing of Edmund Burke, a prominent Fox supporter who joins Pitt over Fox’s continued support for the Revolution. While Pitt adopted a policy of neutrality French encouragement of a revolution in the Netherlands (a British ally), a declaration all the peoples of Europe should overthrow their rulers, and the execution of King Louis XVI increased tensions. Finally in 1793 France declares war on the United Kingdom. Note that despite being at war Fox will still continue to support France.

Though this is a small clip and on camera, it gives a good window into the relationship between Charles, William, and Harry. Harry was always more quiet in comparison to William, but you can see how relaxed they all were, joking and laughing together. Another is the polo video when they are all laughing together. Its really frustrating to watch Harry whine about being unloved and neglected, when its very clear that Charles was very emotionally invested into his parenting.

This post was deemed to be "outside the topic of the sub" on r/serialkillers because Charles Henry Williams was a suspected, not convicted serial killer. This post is about both a killer, or many killers, but most importantly it is about the overlap of policing, science and prejudice that lives in the deaths it covers up. If you are not interested in the social commentary(shame) there is a list of suspected victims of the North Miami serial killer, news reports and files from the Miami-Dade ME office at the bottom of the post.
Charles Henry Williams was a serial rapist and primary suspect in the deaths of as many as 32 women who ranged in age from 14 to 36, between 1980 and 1989. To the best of my knowledge, this is the most comprehensive writeup of his life and potential crimes. Over a decade, bodies turned up in cheap motels, parking lots, and alleyways often killed in the early hours of a weekend. Most had died of strangulation, often from behind and were found nude from the waist down. Four of the women were killed near the Williams family home in Overtown and a fifth was a neighbor. While not averse to comitting crimes in his backyard, Williams learnt to distance himself over time. Four others died in a north Dade County red light district where Williams used to hang out, and two other women were slain in the Brownsville neighborhood where Williams was known to visit seeking smoking partners. In at least six cases, witnesses had seen him with the victims shortly before they disappeared.
The Unsolved Murders of Women in Miami
Born on March 17 1956, not much is known about Williams' life. At the time of his arrest, 6'3 tall Williams was working as a bus mechanic. He had been convicted of sexual assault in 1977 and institutionalized for a few years. Further rape charges had been brought against him but resulted in acquittals and dropped or reduced charges. These arrests might explain some of the gaps in his activity as listed below. Williams' first known murder, the only one he was ever charged with occurred in 1984. A record of Williams time in custody during this period might help fill some gaps, such as his apparent dormancy throughout 1985 and in early 1987. From September 1986 on, bodies began to pile up. By October 1988, it was readily apparent that a serial killer was at work. At least five women had been found dead that month, two on the same morning.
