A list of puns related to "Weights And Measures Act 1824"
On the first point, this has been beaten to death. The number of people who refuse to believe that individual accountability is a reasonable expectation is concerning. We have grown, functioning, seemingly rational adults reverting to a child-like persona - and looking to the government (parents) for safety and security. Not once in the history of humanity (save for some choice war-measures) has a government ever created blanket policy to protect the needs of an individual.
Government administrations are passive entities which provide generalized supports so society can function - they do not, and have never (perhaps with the exception of some authoritarian regimes) existed to best serve the individual. The safety, security, and prosperity of the individual has always been in the individual's hands for better or worse.
Next, Covid-19 is a virus. In insurance, it would be classified as an "act of God", putting it in category with forest fires, tornadoes, and tsunamis. A virus is an uncontrollable, unpreventable event which we can only take passive mitigation measures as individuals to ensure that if we contract it - we will more than likely emerge unharmed.
We cannot petition an administration to prevent an act of nature.
But an overwhelmingly large subset of the population refuse to accept that we are not in complete control of the world around us. It is baffling.
The only way for us to have a sanity check at this point is that people can accept what they can control (themselves, not their neighbors), what they can't (the virus), and have the wisdom to know the difference.
Good luck.
Section 4 Vagrancy Act 1824 is being found on enclosed premises, which states:
This charge will be appropriate for an accused against whom there is insufficient evidence of burglary or attempt burglary, but who is found within an enclosed area for an unlawful purpose.
What is an unlawful purpose that you could get someone off property? Is it literally anything illegal e.g. you find people in the yard of a public area, smoking cannabis
Just wondered if people have some examples of where they've used it, so I can understand where I could use it effectively as another option?
Thanks in advance
Question: Iβm perhaps a little out of touch, but Iβm being put off ordering a beer anywhere other than my deck. I remember a pint being a pint of beer, not the highly variable thing that turns up when I swap it for anything between $8 - 12. A handle I can grasp, lol but all these other sizes? Anyone else wondering if this is getting a bit out of hand?
Hi all,
Something that's come up in discussion recently among my friends is about whether you can sell a pint of beer with a dash of lemonade while still charging full price for the pint and then extra for the lemonade.
I'm not finding a whole lot through google bar this page which is a blog, and not at all official.
Anyone with any more insight into where the law stands on this?
Cheers.
First of all centimetres are too small and metres are far to big. I like to sew and centimetres are just an absolute pain to use, furthermore, the only time I use metres is when I actually buy fabric other than that I never use them because theyβre too big to be useful; feet are such handy units and are so much more divisible than metres. Have you ever tried dividing 100 by 3? You get 33.3 recurring whereas 12 divided by three is four; you can also easily divide a foot into fours; when you try divide 30cm into fours you get 7.5.
Secondly, inches are far easier to estimate; the top part of your thumb is roughly an inch long; you canβt really do this with centimetres.
People inevitably bring up converting between units; I donβt know about you but I virtually never have to convert between units and if I do I use my phone which gets rid of the need to be able to easily convert between units. Plus, if you passed year three maths converting between imperial units is no trouble at all
When it comes to weighing things kilos are too big and grams are too small. Ounces are such nice measurements
Also fractions; fractions are so much nicer to use than decimals.
Maybe for science and maths the metric system presents an advantage but as Iβm not a scientist I donβt see it. If the only interaction you have with weights and measures is when youβre in a grocery store or driving a car then yeah, you may not see the benefits of the imperial system but when youβre doing any kind of craft(Iβm assuming the same issues I have with using metric measurements when sewing would also apply to things like carpentry)and you take the time to actually learn the imperial system like I did youβll see that itβs far superior for most things.
The metric system feels as though it were created for computers whereas the Imperial System feels as though it were created for humans.
In order to create a standard of measurement within Catalonia and to promote fair trade within the kingdom, King Philip has ordered his advisers to create a system of measurement that will be used throughout Catalonia
After much time deliberating on the matter the mathematicians and scholars have devised a system that will standardise measurements.
Length
The base measurement used for length is the Metre. The scholars have decided to define this as the length of King Philips arm, shoulder to finger tips.
The word Metre draws it's name from the Latin word Metior which translates to "to measure".
Volume
The base measurement used for volume is the Litre. This is defined as the volume of a cube which has sides that are each equal to 10 centimetres.
Mass
The base measurement used for mass is the Gram. This is defined as the mass of one cubic centimetre of water at the freezing point of ice
Prefixes
Prefixes are used when the measurement is either too big or too small to portray as the base.
Milli-
This prefix denotes that the measurement is 1/1000 of the base measurement.
Centi-
This prefix denotes that the measurement is 1/100 of the base measurement.
Kilo-
This prefix denotes that the measurement is 1000 times larger than the base measurement.
[M] I can't use the standard definition of the Metre as Alamedo pointed out I don't have an accurate way of measuring time so I've had to use a different way and will refine it at a later point when more accurate measurements can be used.
I'm (19F) not as thin as a stick but i am thin, and my weight has just been stagnant for fucking years. The most I've ever gained in my life, aside from growing, was im guessing something like half a stone, over 5 YEARS, through high school. And that was cause i was unhealthy as shit and ate nothing but sugary things, fizzies and processed foods (microwave meals pretty much 90% of the time) and was at my computer all day (still am but i eat much healthier).
I obviously can't go back to how i used to eat in order to gain weight cause thats disgusting, can't even eat any sugar anymore cause i dont wanna fuck my teeth up even more
Now my weight is completely stagnant and i get full easily, and even if i didn't, im poor as shit and cant afford to buy more food to try to shove down my gob. For the record, this seems to run in my family too, we all have looked exactly the same for decades, in terms of weight. And like me some of them complain about it too.
I mean sure, it's good that i will probably never have to worry about being overweight and all the problems that come with that and of course im grateful for that, but it's so frustrating feeling like no matter what i do i can never gain control over the way my body looks and could look. I wanna be thicc, but am just a sticc... lol.
Worse that there's hardly any support out there for ppl trying to gain weight, people just treat it like a joke, and if you be honest about your frustration people see you as ungrateful (???) or like you're bragging. For me it's more about aesthetics and less about health which yeah, I get would come off as out of touch and just idiotic to people who struggle a lot with fluctuating weight or obesity that could have/almost killed them but welp, that's why im here. I can't gain weight and im mad about it, end of story.
Itβs incredible. Only at Page 25 and Iβve never felt more uneducated about our money, our use of the words to describe it, etcβ¦
Hard to find, but worth it.
Like, why do we say "what's your weight" instead of "what's your mass"?
A string of climate measures in the Build Back Better Act seem to have survived negotiation, including:
We need a final push to get Congress to actually vote on it, so call your rep.
Edit: it looks like the progressives rejected the idea of voting on the bipartisan bill before there a Senate vote on the Build Back Better Act, which includes the climate legislation, so we're going to have a few more days before anything happens.
Edit2: The US House of Representatives passed the bipartisan bill, in exchange for a promise to pass the Build Back Better Act. Almost all the climate provisions are in the latter. So keep on calling.
So used one today and this little paper print off came out and it says I'm now a fat guy. I suppose the fact I'm popping buttons open on my shirt and pants sort of backs that up. I get that BMI is a somewhat controversial thing and aware of the arguments around it. It's the having to hold handles on the machine to get the result of BMI Does it measure electrical resistance or something?
I'm aware that we can't take a piece of it and weigh it, but how did we come up with the formula of measuring its weight? Since we can't touch them or break off a piece or anything like that hahah
The following statement was issued today by Marc-Alain Mallet, director of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission regarding mandatory vaccination and the Human Rights Act:
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission has strived to help New Brunswickers understand their rights and obligations in the context of this new and evolving reality. We have developed guidelines and FAQs, hosted presentations, and answered thousands of inquiries; and this in a genuine effort to clarify ambiguities and lessen peopleβs anguish.
In recent weeks, the commission has been experiencing a considerable and steady increase in COVID-19 related inquiries and complaints from the public, especially in relation to the provinceβs latest proof of vaccination and mandatory mask policies. Specifically, of the 318 inquiries received in the last month alone, 67 per cent were vaccine related and in the past week this number rose to 90 per cent. Many people contacting the commission have expressed concerns that the new COVID-19 measures violate their human rights and have sought the commissionβs intervention to protect them against these alleged or perceived violations. Some have stated that the commission is not defending their rights.
This is far from the truth. It bears emphasizing that the New Brunswick Human Rights Act offers protection from discrimination in employment, housing, services, notices or signs, and professional or business or trade associations, based on 16 protected grounds enumerated in the act, in addition to sexual harassment and reprisal. If a person alleges that the governmentβs COVID-19 measures violate their human rights, the commission will only have authority to look into the alleged violation if it is related to a protected ground. Thus, if someone claims that it is their human right to be exempt from COVID-19 vaccinations, the claim must be based on the grounds of either physical disability, mental disability, or creed or religion. If a physician has certified that a person should not be vaccinated because of their disability, such a person can approach the commission for redress if an employer or service provider refuses to accommodate their disability.
However, to claim exemption from vaccination under the ground of creed or religion, a person must demonstrate (1) that their vaccination choice is based on a specific religious or spiritual belief system and (2) that they sincerely follow that religious or spiritual be
