We took in our godson this year in an emergency custody situation. 2021 has been so awful, and being overnight parents changed our lives. The future isnβt known, I donβt know how long weβll be able to cherish him in our home full-time like this, and weβre looking at a long road of legal, emotional, physical, and mental struggles to give him the life he deserves.
But every second is worth it, because heβs worth it.
His first laugh, his first solid food, his first holidays⦠we got to experience that with him.
And today, he took his first step. It was walking to me, to give me a hug. I truly didnβt know I was capable of feeling such strong emotions towards anyone or anything. I have never in my life experienced the kind of selfless pride I felt in that moment.
I just had to tell someone. We canβt go public with our real life friend group with this stuff for his own safety, and it can feel kind of isolating sometimes.
Today was a good day.
Just my little way of hopefully making some drivers stop and think about their actions and how they can make other peopleβs lives safer
There was an app mentioned on one of the shiba forums mentioning about a shiba burn app called βstepsβ. Basically by walking it burns shib, according to the post. I tried to look it up in the apple store and I could not find it. Could anyone provide a link or more info?
-Thank you!
I was diagnosed last year and it made me reflect on habits of mine that may be explained by ADHD.
Something I do while walking is counting steps between certain spots (usually lines in the pathway). Itβs pretty subconscious and I donβt do it compulsively. Itβs mostly just to keep my mind on one thing, I think. I donβt try to do the same amount of steps or avoid cracks or anything, just count them.
Does anyone else do something similar? What βweirdβ things did you guys do that you found out may be an ADHD thing?
I don't drive and try to walk everywhere I can, but still - it's the first year I've tracked this data and it's much higher than I would've anticipated. I've got a big target to beat next year!
I'm setting up a second property for short term rentals that was purchased in the late summer months. We just got our permit to rent it and the first snow of the season hit. Little did we know how difficult it would be to access the front of the house in the snow.
You either need a 4X4 or AWD vehicle to get up a narrow access road or park on the street in a dedicated spot and climb up 50 some paved steps to get to the front. This definitely has us concerned not just for ease of access but liability.
I had some friends stay and provide a dry run and they didn't have problems but they are a younger couple.
Our first property in the area has been a very successful and similar sized house (2,500 sq feet, sleeps 10) and rented to mostly families or multiple families with kids. I fully expect the same clientele for this second property.
Any advice? The access road is plowed irregularly and the street plow always pushes a snow bank blocking our dedicated street parking spot. I want to open and honest with guests with the difficulty they may have accessing the house in the winter but I also don't want this asset sitting unrented.
I was having this conversation with someone about how after sitting long periods or just even to get in minor activity in, Iβll pace in a small area or walk in place. I donβt do this in public, and this person said what I was doing was weird and it shows since I wonβt do it around people.
I genuinely donβt think it is, but I wanted to hear otherβs opinions? I use step count as a gauge and monitor for my daily activity, so I find ways to reach it each day.
This story is quite ridiculous, to the point that I think that it should not be in this reddit. But I am still posting it here to hear your thoughts. For context, my mom and my eldest sister are the kind of people who think if I jump from the second stair of the staircase to the ground, I'll get hurt. Meanwhile, my dad and my middle sister are the kind to tell me to practice jumping from the whole flight of stairs, you get the point. So:
Yesterday, I started focusing on increasing the number of steps I walk a day. My average steps in a day would be 8000. So yesterday I got that to 10,000. My dad and my middle sister were proud and told me to set my goal to 12,000-13,000 steps. My mother and eldest sister didn't react. So today, I set that goal and walked a lot. I got to 8000 by 4pm which was impressive for me. So then, I went to play badminton like usual, and once I finished the several matches, I walked. At the end of my session, approximately an 2 hours ago, I hit 15,000 without realising. When I sent my accomplishment in our family group chat, my dad told me that this much was not required but was still impressive and my middle sister told me to do this everyday. Meanwhile, my eldest sister and mom started freaking out and kept on texting me, " to not do all of this or you'll be sick or your legs will be weak." For more context, my dad is almost 60 and is extremely fit and still goes to the gym and reaches 20,000 steps at the end of the day. Anyways, I told them, "it's 15,000 steps, not 100,000 don't be that surprised." My mom randomly started telling my father because his influence spread to me. She then told me to not do more than 10,000 steps a day. I told her, "What do you mean, 10,000 to 15,000 steps is gonna be my daily routine now. She looked at the table behind me, walked to it and picked up my smartband, telling me, "You will never get this again, now do 15,000 steps everyday." She doesn't know that pedometers exist on mobile so I didn't tell her to give me my smartband back. It's been an hour since that happened and my dad told me to not follow her and go do 10,000-15,000 steps a day.
I probably don't need to ask this but, AITA?
I'm at well over 15,000 w/soothe bell and it hasn't increased at all.
steam input is disabled. no other tools for ds is open.
vibration only appears in cut scenes when enemy hits u or so. that's it.
Weβre at 9k - 11k steps per day
