My friends(we are all students) and I were travelling with my three other Colleagues who were supposed to travel from Kolkata to Frankfurt via Delhi on 6th November 2021 to our respective Universities.Β Due to the sudden cancellation of the Flight ofΒ Air Vistara ( UK720), whichΒ was departing fromΒ Kolkata at 7:10 am, we were given a rescheduled flight from Kolkata to Delhi ( UK 708), which is departing from Kolkata on 5th November 2021 at 20:20 p.m andΒ reaching Delhi at 22:45 p.m. But the issue that we are facing is the next flight from Delhi to Frankfurt departs from Delhi at 14:05 p.m on the next day, that isΒ 6th November 2021, which gives us a layover of around 15 hours 20 minutes.
Now in this corona(Covid-19) situationΒ as students, carrying around 50 kg of luggage each it isΒ quite impossible to spend 15 hours outside of the airport and Vistara, in spite of their technicalΒ issues they are suggesting us to spend the whole night outside or cancel the flight rather than providing any accommodation and relevant benefits.
Due to strict constraints, we booked the tickets such that we can reach Germany on time (6th November), so it is not possible for us to reschedule the flight or cancel it as it may hamper our studies and also we booked train tickets from Frankfurt to Freiburg where our universities are, so cancelling the flight tickets will also cost us to cancel the train tickets and it would a lot for us as we are mere students and not earning.
In the Rule book of DGCA, it is clearly stated under section 3 series m, part 4 revision 3, para 3.6.1 3.6.2 that airlines are responsible for providing us with accommodation if they cancel or delay the flights.
Not only that Vistara keeps promising that they will call us back to discuss it but no one really calls.
But I guess no one really cares. If this is how India is moving ahead in terms of airlines. I see a dark future in my country.
