I am an avid romance book/film fan. An extremely common trope involves the protagonist having to jump through hoops to acquire her grandmothers property, all under the watchful eyes of a typically handsome lawyer. For example, someone will inherit their grandmothers estate, but only after completing the family’s 12 Christmas traditions. I’m curious, is this legal in real life? Would this be upheld, or would the property just be handed over without the odd activities?
First week recap HERE.
**TLDR of how Ali’s second week is going? In the immortal words of Dorinda Medley, ”not well, bitch” **
Y’all - I could only make it through her birthday. Next edition of Ali’s fitness update will start on January 14. I prob spent more time on this than Big Mama spends on her ComPuTeR woRk in an entire year 😂
IF IVE FORGOTTEN ANYTHING LET ME KNOW AND ILL EDIT
Jan. 8 — posts a sodium-laden wagyu beef recipe that she intends to make. It literally involves a can of soup, a packet of gravy, and some wagyu. This won’t make you feel bloated at all!
Jan. 8 — Despite claiming she’d work out today since she was “too busy” yesterday, Ali suited up in some fugly outfit to go somewhere stupid with Cohn (either mall or Target - BET - cuz it ain’t the gym). We do know they at least went to Dick’s Sporting Goods to get Leminaldo Ronaldo some soccer gear. I’m sure they got Ali some ✨ fresh ✨ gear as well since she’s SURELy going to start doing 2 a days to make up for last week!
Jan. 8 - several hours after she left the house looking like she was about to direct traffic (s/o to u/notjjd for that burn 😂 ), she posts that she just got home “from the grocery store” just in time for a tornado watch!!! Phew, she was REALLY gonna work out today guys, but there’s a totally real tornado about to touch down in Tomball!! (Have a screenshot of this, but don’t know how to upload since no one posted it on Reddit - will figure it out).
Jan. 8 - with no mention of her workout, or lack thereof, Ali Chicken Fingers [posted her very healthy dinner thats been simmering all day.](https://www.reddit.com/r/aliandjohnjamesagain/comments/rzfw9f/bikini_bod_here_i_come_health_food/?utm_source=share&

Hey Folks, I'm writing down this post for y'all. I know a lot of recruiters from Poland are reaching out to developers and engineers from India for positions in Warsaw, Krakow and other places in Poland.
But you guys need to be aware of such job postings, the jobs are totally legit but the salary is what is super scammy. Please be aware of the net gross and CTC values they disclose. They do not talk In CTC but mostly gross. The deductions are almost 45%-50% in most cases and that's barely enough to save and live here and they will never reveal this to you.
I've been here for almost 6 years and I've seen Soo many developers and engineers coming from India and getting scammed by major companies regarding their salaries, bonus's aren't a thing here btw. Even major banks and tech companies pay you lesser than what you might get in India. The inflation is soaring high.
They usually say it's a startup atmosphere, central Europe, great culture, flexible working, multicultural crowd, and random buzz words. Cut the Chase and get straight to the point. If it's not in the contract of work, it's just a false promise they made to you.
Common benefits
Instead talk about.

Captain Vii’a Maa’trix stood her ground firmly before the small gathering of her subordinate Red Tempest Mercenaries forming a semi-circle around her, refusing to go along with their last minute plan to avenge a fallen podmate.
“Captain, that thing is still out there, who knows who else it will try to turn into a meal!” a pair of umber skinned Nighkru twins, Krella and Belka, interjected. “This isn’t just about Tenka, but everyone of us who guards the outer wall or works the night shift is in danger!”
“I know," Vii'a sighed. "But I don’t have enough mercenaries to send off at the last minute to either take your places, or go after it for you. I need to make sure that this base is secured at all times, especially now that we have a brig full of angry protestors all demanding to see their lawyers!”
The older cyborg scoffed as she ran her silver robotic hands through her snow white hair before looking to the crew before her. “I mean, do any of you know the first thing about hunting large predators?”
“I do, and I’m very proficient in doing so too.” Ara the lone Rakiri stated, to no one’s surprise.
“I’ve gone on trips with Ara before.” Miztana shrugged, also not much of a surprise considering how close the two were.
“I’ve done some here and there when on leave.” Haelga shrugged, brushing her bangs out of her eyes.
“Well, that’s just three out of five, so I don’t think that’s going to work with just-”
“Four out of six.” Gray called out, “I’m still here, Vii’a.”
The group split down the middle and turned towards the voice of the sole male on base, Vii’a staring in a mix of disbelief and alarm.
“Oh, I am absolutely not allowing this!”
“Why?” Gray challenged, stepping through the group to stand off against his ex. “I have experience in hunting big game and large predators since I was big enough to hold a rifle.”
“I don’t care, you’re not going, and that’s an order!” Vii’a snapped, squaring up to the slightly larger Human male.
“With all due respect, Captain, I think this has less to do with needing all hands on deck, and more a conflict of interest.” Gray said cooly, staring down at the gray elf alien, “It’s not because I’m unqualified, you have my file. It’s not because I’m on duty, because today is my scheduled on-base leave. So it just leaves three options: Either because I’m a male, because I’m your ex-boyfr

PREAMBLE
Shopping philosophy: I’m on a tight budget, given that I’m a graduate student. I also prefer to buy clothing and accessories second-hand or locally rather than purchasing them new. Therefore, I diligently encourage my local thrift store by purchasing most of my clothing there, and I buy reps for items that are difficult to thrift in good condition or at a reasonable price, in particular shoes, some bags, jeans. I do a lot of research before purchasing a rep to ensure that it is durable and that I will get great use out of it. My goal is to get the best quality items for the lowest possible costs – which is often possible despite high shipping prices. Therefore, I mostly comment on the quality of the products rather than their accuracy regarding the authentic pieces. This is all for RepScience!

The fabric is super soft and cozy and is perfect for teleworking. The quality is remarkable. The only (minor) issue is that the sleeves are oddly large and puffy, as you can see in the modshots. Nonetheless, I purchased size small for a comfortable fit, but I could have sized down for a more adjusted fit. I’m not sure how it compares to the authentic but the fact that the logo is so light would hide any inaccuracies if there are some. In the future, I would like to buy another repped fleece, so please share with me your recommendations!

I’ve hit my 1 year mark but was offered another role that would increase my salary by about 30%. I don’t know if I should give up the stock options and take the higher salary. This company is going to for sure IPO or sell in the next year. What does that mean for me? Is it silly to consider another job? I don’t know much about stock so I don’t want to make the wrong decision but I also know nothing is guaranteed. The clause in the stock agreement states that vesting would accelerate if acquired or that the acquiring company would match the incentive plan.
Hey all, need some help here.
I'm part of a startup that I joined early last year and received RSA's through my offer letter. The stock had no price at the time to my knowledge since the company was new, and I never received a grant. I accepted the Restricted Stock Awards through my offer letter and haven't looked at it since.
The company recently finished a seed round. With that, I've received news that my RSA's are being revoked by over 60% of what I accepted in my offer letter. The reason is that because as more investors join, I own too much stock for them to be comfortable with my position.
I'm frankly very confused, and certainly grieving if this is possible. Through my reading, I understood that I own the RSA's once they're awarded, though they're still subject to the vesting period. There's no clause in my contract to retract RSA's.
Can someone help me make sense of this? If I'm SOL, I'd still prefer to know & understand.
Edit: Clarified the RSA's are being revoked, not reduced through dilution.
TL;DR - I've broken this post up into sections as it's a long read. While public has its faults overall I would say was a net positive on me and my career. AAS I would highly recommend and it worked out well for me working on transactions. Skip to the end to see the exit ops.
Earlier this Fall I accepted an offer in industry and left Accounting Advisory Services at a B4 (e.g. EY FAAS, PwC CMAAS) and wanted to share a reflection on my time in the service line to shed some light for others contemplating joining or currently navigating the service line.
I graduated from the flagship public state school of my state with a bachelors in accounting. I was fortunate to get a full time offer at a national firm despite having a low GPA, for public anyway, of 3.0 and missing out on internship season the summer right before my Junior year. Part of that was due to spending time on a collegiate team that was a benefit to my resume based on leadership experience that I gained.
I already covered my audit experience in-depth in another thread which can be found here I won't go in-depth there. I will just say that between the two firms I was at the national firm had much better tech and easier intranet and internal resources to navigate but that the B4 had a few more technical resources. Additionally, I think the experience I got at a national firm was more insightful than the B4 audit experience that many of my AAS colleagues had gotten and from what I observed assisting a handful of audit teams at the B4 I was at. Since the teams aren't as built out at the smaller firms and you need to not just understand a singular part of the audit/financial statements but you need to know how it interplays with other areas of the audit AND you generally get to see more areas instead of being on one section of the audit and learning nothing else but how to audit one section of the financial statements.
After 3 busy seasons of audit, one of those as a senior, I was starting to get tired of audit and at the same time I got a cold call from a recruiter at what would be the next firm I would work at which was perfect timing. I only got that call because I had my LinkedIn updated. So I would say keep your resume AND LinkedIn up to date regardless of whether you are/aren't looking. If possible, it's better to leave on your terms because you got a better offer than because you can't stand it a

It will soon be 25 years since the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. In a shameless effort to promote our new podcast A NORMAL FAMILY: THE JONBENET RAMSEY CASE REVISITED, we have put together a list of false statements made by the Ramseys over the years.
In addition to the statements listed here, the Ramseys have said many things over the years which seem highly implausible, though are technically impossible to verify one way or the other, e.g. Patsy claiming not to recognize her own handwriting. I have not included those in this list, except when a credible eyewitness has testified that the statement is conclusively false.
>Interviewer: Was she hidden in any way? >John: (shaking his head) No. (01/01/1997)
Jonbenet’s body was hidden under a blanket in a pitch-dark storage room in the basement behind a latched door. Several police officers, John Ramsey, and a family friend, had all been in the basement that morning and none of them had noticed the body. She was hidden.
>John: “The [basement] window stands wide open” (The Other Side of Suffering, 2012)
In 1997 John said he had gone to the basement alone sometime on the morning of December 26th, found the window open, and closed it. He said the window was open “about an eighth of an inch” when he went down there. In 1998 he said it was open “an inch, maybe less” and “cracked and open a little bit”. In 2001 he called it a “partially opened window” and by 2012 he was saying it was “wide open”. John now consistently gives the public the impression there was a wide open window in the basement. u/cottonstarr has documented the history of John’s changing statements on the basement window.

There were several posts to r/CryptoCurrency on Tuesday (2022JAN11) regarding the Wall Street Journal article, but there was no real discourse into the broader implications of the official Citadel announcement. I'm hoping this post will further the discussion.
I ask you to consider that this partnership may have resulted from Paradigm approaching Sequoia, and together they approached Citadel Securities; it may not have resulted from Citadel Securities seeking partners for a crypto endeavor. This post also relies on the possibility that Citadel Securities isn't amidst a pending collapse, but that it's possible that they doing just fine.
Skip to the "Citadel" Disambiguation section (at the end) if you're unfamiliar with the two "Citadel" entities, those being the hedge fund and the market maker. Only the market maker, Citadel Securities, is discussed in this post.
I'm not attempting to be overly alarmist about this partnership, but you shouldn't readily dismiss this partnership as a smoke and mirrors move to prop-up a failing Citadel. There are several aspects of this partnership that are odd at face value and dots remain to be connected. If Citadel Securities is truly planning a crypto-oriented venture, it's gonna be huge - and that's likely problematic for crypto retail traders and investors given Citadel Securities' problematic history of exploiting retail traders and investors.
Furthermore, with the recent attention to crypto by the US Congress and [SEC Chair Gary Gensler](https:

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I'm relatively new to the field. Started as junior Dev in a company last June. Just landed a software dev role at another firm, upwards move. In the contract there is an IP clause that, if I read it correctly, signs all IP on any works I do to them. It doesn't say anything like any work done that would conflict with our interests. Just ANY IP for ANY work done by me vests in them. That sounds like it blows to me. But is that standard in software dev roles? Am I freaking out about this clause unnecessarily?
First effortpost, I suck at writing so please be gentle. Constructive criticism is always welcome though.
The rent control argument should’ve been dead and buried ever since someone made this model of price caps on goods. Alas, as cities around the world have faced affordable housing crises, people have flocked to the simplest solution they could find, and they found rent control and/or rent stabilisation. However, as with many of the simplest solutions to complex problems, it's plain wrong.
Why people think it works.
> Greedy landlords backed by greedy bankers are profiting off increasing rents on people in their area, forcing people to move out and threatening social cohesion and destroying the fabric of our society
Basically, they want rent to be cheaper in areas with low supply but high demand and their chosen policy to achieve that aim is rent control. What better solution to the housing affordability crisis than stopping landlords from increasing rents?
Why it doesn't work.
Rent controls have long been known to economists as a bad solution to the affordable housing problem. We've had studies ever since the 40s showing how they lead to housing being overconsumed, left to rot, turned into condos, or end up causing shortages which lead to price increases for the unlucky majority not in a rent-controlled home.
We also know that when you have rent-control or stabilisation for long enough you'll end up with 2 classes of renters like in Berlin or NYC. Wealthy, longer-term residents who have a 3-bedroom rental in the inner-city for less than 1.5K a month while new students are struggling to get a studio for that same price.
For almost as long as we've known these things, they've been championed by some as the solution to our housing affordability crisis when it obviously isn't.
Not only does rent control fail to solve the affordable housing problem, it also incentivises people to not move to better job opportunities because they will lose their rent-controlled ho

Starting off as an idea that only enthusiasts on the fringe started adopting, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have grown to dominate the news, create fanatic followings in social media, and worry governments about where this is all headed.
While some think that Bitcoin is just a highly speculative asset, a group of strong believers termed “maximalists” project that Bitcoin will become a dominant global currency that overthrows the dollar one day. Though initially sceptical, researching this article took me down a rabbit-hole…
What is Bitcoin? Where does its value come from? Does it have the properties needed to make it a viable form of currency? Can it fuel a thriving economy? What are Bitcoin’s weak points? Which are its competitors? How will governments respond to its rise to power? Can Bitcoin become the new Gold Standard?
Strap in for a rollercoaster ride through the past, present and future of Bitcoin!
Historians agree that humans invented money before they invented written language. Think about that. We were able to agree on how to exchange value before we were able to write down our thoughts. The origins of money are more fundamental to human nature than our desire to communicate, in a way.
Money served three purposes:
Starting with the barter system, humans moved on to using common goods with intrinsic value (such as cows and bags of wheat) and then to units like cowrie shells, glass beads which were more convenient for accounting because of their divisibility. There was a problem with this system, though. You guessed it.
https://preview.redd.it/yikel8bb7j181.png?width=498&format=png&auto=webp&s=868a480c045cd934b49a237de42791ebe358d72b
People who had access to the means of production of cowrie shells or glass beads could flood the market, and the more money there was in the market, the less value it had. This is what happened in Africa when glass beads merchants from Europe imported loads of glass beads and made them worthless as a form of money. (This could be one of the first recorded instances of inflation).
Gold was a solution to the cheap creation of money. Mining gold is a difficult task.

I hope it is well-received and will happily join in any constructive discussion. Sorry for the long post.
The latest AMA was the first I actually attended after joining in a couple weeks ago. These are my thoughts.
Pros:
The way the team was answering questions fluidly gave me confidence they are actually thinking through the future and not just blowing smoke. The responses seemed targeted and not like they were stalling, which gave me the impression they meant what they said.
There were moments of slight understanding of people being cautious and not believing the team at their word. This acknowledgment is incredibly important, especially considering Sam's career where he is likely skeptical of many companies when handling his clients' money. FUD sucks, but many concerns of people are genuine and shouldn't just be brushed off.
The move to not promise deadlines is an important one, for me. I work for a wealthtech startup who has had to learn the hard way that software doesn't like to adhere to a schedule. If the lack of implementation on Indacoin is scaring you, it seems fairly normal for me. We have run into similar issues with integration on our platform with many big players in the finance industry.
The question about team member personal wallets was very good and quite telling. I am hoping in the future they can work in some contracts for employees to have stronger oversight in those wallets. Effectively, locking coins and releasing them on a vesting schedule for everyone, and perhaps even a buy out clause similar to what a startup employs. Yes, it is their personal wallet, but outside of crypto shares for a startup are unable to be purchased on a market, so the use case is slightly different, but it would instill a lot of confidence.
Consideration of tax reduction in the future is incredibly valuable. However, I would be happy to cut down on reflections and/or transition to a dividend type model when things begin to stabilize. The reflections are great, but if it puts a limit on adoption there is a lot of opportunity value left on the table, meani
The Labour left’s manic depression
These changes in the composition of the party has affected the Labour left. In 1981 Tony Benn received 81.1 percent of the constituency vote in the campaign for party leader, in 1988 it was 18.8 percent. [98] In 1989 Ken Livingstone lost his seat on the NEC, and in 1993 Benn was ousted after three and a half decades on that body. Until then ‘constituency parties’ representatives on the NEC, first elected by constituency delegates in 1937, [were] consistently and overwhelmingly on the party’s left’. [99] By the 1990s the left were a minority, though the right has not succeeded in wiping it out, with Dennis Skinner and Dianne Abbott retaining seats in 1995 while ‘moderniser’ Jack Straw lost his. Labour’s left has proved relatively powerless against the leadership’s right wing authoritarianism.
A sign of the reformist left’s disintegration was the closure of much of its press: News on Sunday (June 1987); New Socialist and Labour Weekly (Oct 1987); Marxism Today (December 1991); the Socialist (June 1992); Spare Rib (February 1993). This leaves the newly launched Red Pepper and Tribune, its circulation down to 5,000 from a high of 40,000. The fate of the Tribune Group exemplifies the trend:
Its once passionate and well attended weekly meetings had dwindled to directionless once-a-month gatherings attended sometime by as few as four or five MPs... Only a few years before it had been touted as the new powerhouse of the PLP but it was now an irrelevance, without ideology or purpose, eviscerated by the disease of leadership loyalty. [100]
Sometimes the situation is acknowledged. Skinner says: ‘The elimination of alternative viewpoints within the Labour Party is now more thorough than it has ever been ... We have a small group of people at the top of the party controlling everything and putting a firm stop to any dissent.’ [101] Benn thinks ‘Socialism has been explicitly repudiated ... People who have given their life to the party are wondering whether it actually is in terminal decline’. [[102]](https://www.marxists.org/archive/cliff/works/1988/labour/17-

Mission parameters for CSS24 were to survey and catalogue Species Designate 43 [Humankind] as their society progresses towards eventual expansion into space and relay collected information for Conglomerate use to prepare for eventual trade associations and compatibility with technologies deemed sufficient to sell SD43.
CSS24 was discovered on Galactic Standard Date 12|07|2009 at the edge of sector 13 of the [Inner Orion Spur] with automated emergency transponders requesting aid, long range scans indicated internal structural damage to the ship.
Per protocol a sensor sweep was conducted by Conglomerate Recovery Ship #37. CRS37 detected a single life form aboard CSS24. CRS37, per protocol, docked with CSS24 and began recovery procedures.
The life form aboard CSS2 ultimately slaughtered and consumed six of CRS37's crew before expiring from fifty seconds of sustained use a sterilization beam after being trapped in the boarding airlock of CRS37.
Due to the unique way in which the specimen was rendered inert, genetic sampling was unable to be performed, but the carcasses of the crew of CSS24 that were recovered had sustained similar wounds as to the members of CRS37's recovery team that went aboard.
Final summation: Based off data fragments recovered off CSS24 and necropsies conducted on crew remains, an endemic species from SD43's biosphere was brought aboard for study, subsequently escaped containment and slaughtered the crew. An automated return to base sequence was presumably activated in the ensuing chaos and the creature slaughtered the crew during the ensuing FTL voyage.
The writer of this report posits an example of SD43-Ursus Artos Horribilis to be the probable culprit as that is consistent with the wound patterns observed in the victims of both CRS37 and CSS24.
It is noted, seven crew transponders were not recovered aboard the CSS24, and the ship to surface shuttle was missing, though subsequent survey ships to the sector have noted no signs indicating the shuttle was used as a lifeboat.

A Question | Quest S |
I scraped every new performance grant CEOs received in 2017 to see if copying those trades would beat the market. The initial results are very promising (12-25% ɑlpha on average depending on the timeframe), but more research needs to be done!
I wrote a python script that scraped every single Form 4 filed in 2017. It was only looking for filings that matched the below criteria:
These kinds of grants don’t happen very often, there were only 9 of them in 2017, but they did indeed beat the market.
Of the 9 stocks that were found, all of them peaked at a price more than 35% above the performance grant and 6 of them peaked up more than 100% in the 3 years following the grant.
The below table is the average returns by months since the performance grant for the SPY and the stocks I found.
Num months => | 1 | 3 | 6 | 12 | 18 | 24 | 30 | 36 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SPY Returns | 1.83% | 4.62% | 7.41% | 13.50% | 14.40% | 17.80% | 22.87% | 30.50% |
Our Returns | 7.35% | 20.24% | 37.45% | 46.55% | 29.10% | 31.61% | 46.38% | 60.13% |
Alpha | 5.52% | 15.62% | 30.04% | 33.05% | 14.70% | 13.81% | 23.51% | 29.63% |
This table is median returns by months since the performance grant. This is to weed out crazy outliers. Some people think the median is useful for stock returns, some don’t.
Num months => | 1 | 3 | 6 | 12 | 18 | 24 | 30 | 36 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SPY Returns | 1.88% | 3.87% | 7.55% | 12.33% | 13.96% | 18.24% | 26.39% | 30.92% |
Our Returns | 7.05% | 15.03% | 33.79% | 25.04% | 28.07% | 30.56% | 44.77% | 43.61% |

This table shows the returns by month for each stock that was found. The "Max" row is the maximum return the stock had at any point during the 3 years.
