I’m watching United States of Tara on Showtime and I highly recommend it. Some laugh out loud stuff. However I’m wondering if this is an accurate portrayal. Can any actual DID systems or psych professionals in here give their opinion?
also i kinda wanna just open up a discussion about it...if anyone has any ideas about what illness everyone has, id be interested to hear it.

I started watching the series early on in my recovery but had to stop because it hit too close to home for me. Almost ten years later, I sat down and watched all 36 episodes over the last few weeks. These commentaries were a big help to understanding the ideas that were being portrayed in the show. Watching with new eyes from everything I have learned about myself and in therapy, I was able to see the series not so much as a dramatization, as an attempt to portray what I know (and often don't know) is happening inside my head to the audience.
Steven Spielberg did am amazing job with The US of Tara. I was so glad he didn't ruin the show with a "happily ever after" ending. In the end, regardless of how much my spouse and family love me, healthy people must protect themselves; something I was not capable of doing as a child. For me, there will always be Tara in the front seat with T, Alice and Buck riding in the back.
Ive started watching this show, perhaps in proving to myself my dissociation is not as bad as full blown did. Im hoping my partner can watch it and help me learn myself and how much my dissociation affects me.
Anyway any things they get wrong/right in this show would be good, it's always best to hear from the people themselves not just tv shows as i know how frequently they get things wrong.
Also tara has four distinct personalities, is it always so clear, do the always have differenct accents?
