A list of puns related to "Unexplored"
Every time I watch, TNG 1.26/The Neutral Zone, I always wonder what became of the three 20th Century Earthlings the Enterprise (and Data in particular) picked up in deep space. I always feel this episode ends too fast, and I'm reminded of the famous Jam session in TOS 3.20/The Way to Eden - and in TNZ we have an actual country music singer who wants to throw a party with Data - it would've been priceless.
The Banker suggests a complex character who would probably thrive in the 24th Century and might be able to exploit the trust that exists in this more genteel society.
The wife is a bit of a throwaway, but could always be more fully developed, and her connection with a relative on earth is REALLY enticing! But unless we get an animated feature on paramount, we'll never know :(
Do you have any episodes that could've been expanded and explored more thoroughly?
We've seen slashers, both supernatural and human born. Ghosts, aliens, and Monsters of many shapes and sizes. Creepy kids and zombies, good lord have we seen zombies. However, up until very recently we haven't seen many bigger budget lovecraftian entries. I'd probably do myself physical harm for another aquatic horror movie in the vein of triangle or ghost ship (yes even with the cheesy 2000's era scream metal slow motion ending. Its been awhile since we've had some terrifying robots no? And as above so below probably the last claustrophobic entry in memory. So, conesours, what plot points, subjects, adaptations, subgenres, ideas or motifs do you feel haven't been explored in the film medium? What are we missing
Hello everyone. I have been doing a PhD in physics for 5 months now, and I am working on a topic that is a crossover between two established areas of physics. Not sure how much I can say about it because this is very novel, but one of those areas I mentioned is a very well established classical physical theory and the other is quantum computing. I am looking at the crossover and the possibilities that are there: simulating certain aspects of the theory.
I am completely stuck though. I feel like I understand why nobody ventured into this crossover before even though it would seem like one of the coolest applications of quantum computing. It just seems impossible and nobody can really help me, I feel like. Simulating classical stuff on a quantum computer is so awkward and researchers usually stick to quantum simulations, for good reason. I myself have been working with QCs for a long time and I know what the possibilities are, but the things I am supposed to investigate do in no way work on a QC, since QCs are specialised in certain types of calculations only. And it feels like my PIs dont understand this fully and want me to do things that have never been done before. QCs are not magical machines that can do any calculation exponentially faster, but to them, it should be relatively straightfoward.
Doing new things that have never been done before, in itself, is fine, but there is no literature on ANYTHING I am working on. Seems like nobody has been able to make these algorithms work, or find it worthwhile to even investigate them. It is exhausting and I feel more like an engineer than a theoretical physicist now. The physical theory we are aiming to simulate is so rich and so amazing, but I am more stuck how to transpose it into an algorithm which I have no idea how to, and it makes me demotivated.
IDK what to do. Quitting is not an option. But I am pretty much on my own here. No fellow researchers. No PIs who are fully specialised. No motivation any more.
It creates a sense of localism and discovery. I REALLY don't think anyone would be against this. I'm getting hyped just thinking about it. Imagine people cruising the seas looking for an oil rig, running tunnels and popping out at every station to check out whats above it, or people just knowing that cargo has spawned because they can hear its death call, and not just pressing G every 5 minutes because you can see it across the world map lol. I think it would be healthy for gameplay
Edit: This will slow progression down ORGANICALLY as well, no need to nerf anything. people would spend half of wipe day looking where go to first
Wife has been dropping little hits that she is queer by watching lesbian porn mostly. Buying mugs with rainbow flags. Texting another queer woman and using a flirtatious tune when speaking to her on the phone. Iβve felt Iβve given so much affection in the relationship and have gotten not much back. She says she loves me but I think sheβs had emotional affairs what should I do ?
Iβve been exploring way outside the bubble, going for both points of interest or way away from them, and I have yet to find an unexplored system. I once read that only 0.7% of all systems have been explore by all playersβ¦and that seems simply not true. What am I doing wrong here?
"Mom, why can dad stand at the table, but I can't wear my cape?" Bobby has a history of wearing a cape and it clearly upsets Hank. "If you're up there with that cape again..." This implies that Bobby has not only been told not to wear his cape at the dinner table, but has also seemingly wore it on the roof and pretended to be a super hero. "Just because Bobby wears a cape doesn't make him a hero." I think there's a couple more times where it's mentioned but I can't remember off hand. Has Bobby and his cape ever actually been on the show and I just missed it? Furthermore, what are some other jokes that are off screen and mentioned multiple times?
With their recent success in Valorant (KRU), it shows that a proper org with extensive backing (owned by footballer Sergio Aguero) can tap into the existing talent pool. In CSGO, while we have seen several Brazilian teams succeed, LATAM only has occasional showings from teams such as 9Z. Meyern seems to be the only example of a LATAM player making it to a top BR team?
Do you think this could be a new region CSGO orgs can tap into with a long-standing project?
Title says all, I want to learn and make a game for the gba, but I'd like it to feel fresh for the platform. What would you like to see?
Hello friends, the purpose of this thread is two-fold. i will explain the sheep-goat effect (from the perspective of a sheep), and will tie it in to the UAP mystery. i'll close with an idea about what, if anything, humanity can do about it.
I'm sure the Invisible College needs no introduction. but their position on UAP might. their position means that the sheep-goat effect has a vital place in our understanding of UAP, but i haven't seen any talk of it. that concerns me.
the position of the Invisible College is polarizing. their position is that UAP are of a dual nature. physical (nuts n' bolts) and psychic. that's why parapsychology is important to them. "goats" are incapable of accepting that woo, "sheep" can.
In 1958, Gertrude R. Schmeidler coined the term sheep goat effect which relates to the effect that a person's belief and attitude plays on how successful they are in ESP tests. She categorized people into two different areas. Sheep were those who believed in ESP and PSI ability. Goats were those who did not believe. During tests in both solo and group settings, the sheep scored higher than goats.
what this means is that subjective psychological variables, such as belief and attitude, play a role is ESP scoring patterns. that should come as no surprise. the attitude of a sheep is conducive to psi. the opposite attitude of a goat results in "psi-missing"
The definition has been extended to include sheep as those who "believe that ESP exists as a genuine phenomenon" (Thalbourne 2003:114), thus excluding goats from this belief. Based on pivotal studies (Lawrence 1993, Palmer 1971, 1977, Schmeidler & McConnell 1973), paranormal belief as measured on sheep-goat scales tends to be a predictor of psi outcomes, with sheep producing significant hit rates (i.e. psi-hitting) and goats producing significant miss rates (i.e. psi-missing). For example, Lawrence's (1993) meta-analysis of 73 studies (totalling 685,000 trials by 4,500 participants) dating back to 1947 demonstrated an accumulative sheep-goat effect that was moderate in size and highly significant - sheep consistently scored better than goats.
it's not that goats have no psychic ability. they do. we all do. it's that they use their psychic ability unconsciously to produce a scoring pattern that serves their false belief. that's called psi-missing

That card is [[Fervent Mastery]], and on the surface bears a passing resemblance to one of my favorite cards in magic, [[Intuition]], which is the backbone of my [[Kaho, Minamo Historian]] list, where I cast, recur, copy, flicker, both it and Kaho five times over to tutor trios of variable lines and pull nearly a third of my deck through a match.
Fervent Mastery fetches a trio of cards similar to Intuition, and like Intuition you donβt have control of what winds up in your hand and what winds up in your graveyard- obviously Fervent Mastery is worse in almost all ways, from the CMC to the lack of control in itβs randomness, so you would only use FM in what would likely be in mono red lists.
However in mono red youβve got cards like [[Underworld Breach]], [[Past in Flames]], [[Fork]], [[Reverberate]], [[Gamble]], [[Goblin Engineer]], [[Feldon of the Third Path]], [[Bloodthirsty Adversary]], and more.
Is there any Fervent Mastery line in mono red in any shell for any commander?
How about sleeper cards youβve found, what is the card and why do you think it could see more use?
It had been Adrian's idea to check out this unexplored cave system, and I was deeply regretting my decision to accompany him. But I wanted one last good memory with him. And honestly? I felt guilty. We'd both known that our six year-long relationship was nearing its expiration date, but I was the one who had instigated our break-up.
And now, we were crawling on all fours through a tight tunnel.
My helmet scraped loudly against the ceiling of the tunnel. It was definitely becoming narrower. Stone pressed down on me from all sides, and I couldn't seem to take deep enough breaths. An image floated through my mind: someone squeezing a tube of toothpaste until the paste spilled out and over their hand.
"Adrian!" I yelled. "Can you hear me?"
No response. He'd been ahead of me only minutes ago.
There wasn't enough space for me to turn around. If I wanted to go back, I would have to crawl backwards, without being able to see what was behind me. I paused for a moment and concentrated on taking one measured breath after another. I was not going to have a panic attack here. I reminded myself that Adrian had made it through to the other side; that meant that the tunnel would widen at some point. Probably. Maybe.
A few minutes later, the tunnel spat me out into a low, wide chamber. The stone walls here were also a rich brown, striped with white and yellow. Stalactites hung from the ceiling and flowstones decorated the walls. I spent a few minutes simply lying on my back, sucking in one deep breath of air after another. I'd never take breathing for granted again.
From what seemed like a great distance, Adrian said, "I found a shaft! It must be at least two hundred feet!"
I pushed myself up and blinked away the purple spots that danced across my vision. Adrian was crouched down next to a hole in the middle of the chamber. It led down into an impenetrable darkness. He had already put on his caving harness and was pulling out climbing rope from his backpack.
"Are you sure we should keep going?" I tried to keep my voice neutral. I didn't want to set him off--the last thing I wanted was for us to start arguing again--but what if we ran out of water and became lost? We'd already spent the past two hours exploring the cavern before finding the tunnel. My water bottle was three-quarters empty too.
He laughed. "Don't be such a worrywart, Alice."
I glared at him. This was why I had known our breakup was inevitable. To Adrian, I would always be the girl with general

I've also got loads of family and friends that want to participate in one way or another, but schedules don't allow everyone to play at the same time. Thankfully there are a couple of experienced DMs interested in stepping in to help. So it looks like a West Marches style of campaign is exactly what we need.
I've kicked a few ideas around on what the setting will be. We're gonna go with D&D 5e, and I and the other DMs are well acquainted with Faerun, the Sword Coast in particular. I am sort of on the fence on whether to stick with Faerun or to start from scratch and do some world building.
I'm comfortable with building from scratch, but the other two DMs have expressed a desire to have something they can lean on. Considering that they both have full time jobs, it seems like a good idea to save us from having to create a bunch of lore. But I'm not sure where to place the wilderness, and am looking to your smart minds for advice.
One thought is to pick one of the unexplored continents on Toril. There will be an adventuring guild driving the exploration and dungeon delving, and perhaps they have established a teleportation circle to their outpost on the distant continent. The guild will operate out of the remote outpost, but there will be the comforts of home available to the PCs via the teleportation circle spell. Exploration of the continent will reveal ancient ruins, and we may end up creating a heretofore unknown prior civilization.
Another thought is to have the wildlands be closer to home. The setting can be the Sword Coast some decades after another great upheaval, wherein the gods wreak havoc on Toril and chaos rains down on Faerun and the other continents. The lands are shattered and entire cities are flooded or swallowed in deep rifts. Only in the last few years has the Weave been accessible and magic is once again flowing freely. The people of Waterdeep (or any other location) survived and are now seeking to reestablish communication and trade with any remaining cities along the Sword Coast.
In both of the above options, we can make use of the extensive lore that Forgotten Realms provides. The pantheon of gods, the languages and cultures, et cetera, are ready made and familiar to the DMs. So there is a lot of appeal to that. Any thoughts on which would be a good way to establish a frontier that allows for a wide range of new discoveries?
Or

Most of the storylines we see in Star Wars media is the Human failing of some Jedi, where attachment and lust lead to Human Jedi compromising their ability to fulfill their mandate as Jedi or live in compliance with the Jedi Code. I am convinced, however, that this would not be a universal problem in an organization such of the Jedi Order. Certainly among Human and near-Human species, but what about species that evolved from fish or crustaceans; birds or lizards. Would a Celigian Jedi really succumb to lust? Do Verpine fall in love? My instinct tells me that there would be a multitude of pitfalls to watch out for in specific species and a range of remedies. This notion has been touched on in the High Republic a little with the Trandoshan species. I would love to really see that side of a predatory species having to conquer that aspect of their nature. Additionally, I think avian species that maybe have short-attention spans/lack of commitment, or insectoids that struggle to be alone.
I would also like to see species-specific factions or interpretations of the Jedi way. Real life philosophies and religions play different roles for different people in different cultures at different points of their lives. Does meditation look different for a Mon Cala than a Togruta. Do Jedi temples have hive-like areas similar to how the Coruscant Temple has an aquatic section (what does that even consist of?) We see human Jedi walking the halls in contemplation, how would an avian Jedi practice that same moving meditation. Like in real life, I am sure there are tons of rituals around food and sleep that are unique as well. How do Jedi without arms participate in the Jedi Order while not being able to wield a lightsaber? Sure, there are healers and librarians, but certainly there would be some kind of psychological hurdle not being able to use the iconic weapon of your Order. Gaseous or crystalline Jedi wouldn't even be able to wear the iconic Jedi robes...what traditions would the Order have to overcome that? I think an Order that is so diverse would have answers to these questions, as the Force is inclusive of all species*, would definitely have traditions in place that would look really foreign to us, as we have not yet really seen that explored.
I want to see some of this explored in different media, as I think there is a lot of unexplored territory here. I think there is room for Jedi traditions that seem very strange or unusual based on species, compared to the li
... keep reading on reddit β‘Anyone else really want Filoni and Disney to go in depth on Maulβs story post TCW?
The counterargument I always hear is:
I disagree on all 3 points. For one we really donβt have a lot of on screen (or even off screen) Maul content. It just seems that way because the arcs he IS in are usually among the best and most memorable. If my count is correct, heβs in all of 10 Clone Wars episodes, like 4 Rebels episodes, and the minimal scenes in TPM and Solo. Contrast this to Ashoka, whoβs getting her OWN show to boot.
Second and third, in the canon at least, there are huge gaps in his story. The most obvious being The gaps between CW S7 and Solo, and then Solo and Rebels. Those are like multiple YEARS where heβs still a major player in the galaxy with his crime syndicates. Not to mention, his training under sidious pre TPM is really nebulous.
I think there is a pretty clear opportunity for the folks at Disney to take advantage of, and I donβt see why Filoni, Favreau and Witwer wouldnβt be driving the bus. Personally Iβd love to see a limited show set between 3 & 4 focusing solely on him, with flashbacks to his training that highlights what a beast he was (with his actual legs) and more of his relationship with sidious and what his purpose was in the long run.
Thereβs a lot of nuance and hints from Solo, Rebels, etc that I didnβt mention, but I want to hear your guys thoughts. I canβt be the only one wondering about this.
What concepts, basketball skills, team strategy/construction, etc. can you think of that are missing from the manga/anime.
Off the top of my head
Players: Elite post play like Tim Duncan, Steph Curry like player (Better than Sakurai) Stretch 4/5 (better shooter than Teppei)
Team Construction: One big surrounded by shooters (Dwight Howardβs Magic Years) Twin Towers (2 elite bigs) Small scoring backcourt (Dame and CJ esque)
Lastly, there are so many factions and groups in the missions page that I'm sort of ignoring them and just taking missions that sound do-able to me - is that okay?
Traveller is very planet-centric it is almost as if the stars they orbit are just and afterthought, but what if a planet doesn't orbit a star? Rogue planets are very much overlooked places to settle in the Traveller universe, there are more of them than their are stars. During planetary formation a number of planets get kicked out of star systems, and some simply form out in Interstellar space because there was not enough material in the collapsing gas and dust cloud to form an actual star. If you look at a typical Traveller map, you don't see rogue planets, the stars they orbit are like sign posts advertising the presence of planets, but rogue planets are harder to spot, they don't give out much light, the easiest to spot are lone brown dwarfs, followed by gas Giants and then terrestrial planets. Depending on how they formed, a rogue planet might be encased in a mantle of ice, or if they formed in an inner star system and got kicked out, they might have a rocky surface instead. Seeing how a lot of established planets in Traveller have populations of 500,000 or less, those people don't have a lot of desire or resources to build instruments that can detect rogue planets drifting between the stars, so a lot of these Rogue planets are unknown or known to only a few, in some places such as rifts, a rogue planet may act as a refueling stop where there is no star system available to act as a way station to an otherwise out of reach star system. So who might settle these Rogue planets, tell me what you think?
