I've thought about watching it for a while now, but I'm worried it won't live up to all the hype. I have a short attention span and tend to zone out if the plot is too slow, and quite a few Netflix shows are slow-paced.
In the show (as I remember at least) they never really explain it I don’t think, it’s kinda just glossed over. Is it explained in the comics ?
I remember him sitting there and taking notes during their meeting around the table. Probably not just about their powers, but also about their person.
When we first see the new Ben and he asks who those "assholes" are, it is easy to assume Reginald learned from the mistake of his future self and that he was not so hard with his children the next time. Ben's attitude could be simply because the Sparrow Academy has been more spoiled than the Umbrella Academy, or at least not been exposed to the same amount of discipline.
But after seeing how both Ben has a scar, and two other members with even more prominent facial scars, it is possible it is the other way around. Reginald is not exactly a mellow person around kids, so perhaps he saw them as whining crybabies or something and told himself that if he ever adopted someone like them, he would make them tougher and harder. And unlike the original team, where everybody except Luther left, all the members of the Sparrow Academy are still there.
In the 60s Reginald also asks them why he would ever adopt children, which he doesn't even like. Which sounds like he didn't decide to adopt them before years later for some reason. And is there a Vanya in the new timeline? There was after all born many babies the same day, and the media should have mentioned other super powered children around the world. Some powers are not possible to hide once they manifest.
Why were they able to find the other Five after that meeting? Wouldn’t that change in the timeline have already been triggered causing that version of five to no longer exist?
Or are time travelers immune to changing timelines?
I’m confused.
Reginald only called them by their numbers, not names. So Grace gave them names instead.
But Ben is called Ben in both the Umbrella Academy and the Sparrow Academy. What are the odds? Unless it was perhaps Reginald who secretly told Grace to name them when they were old enough, making it look like it was her idea. Or the Sparrow Academy could have grown up with a Grace too, who used the same mental process to give them all names. Even the cube has a name; Christopher.
So, there seems to be only three options; Reginald named them, there is another Grace, or they were named by someone else and calling an infant Ben both times is just a weird coincidence.

Big fan of TUA and cannot wait for season 3, but I've always felt like something was off when watching it. After rewatching the series today, I think I have pinned down what it is. The theme music.
I'm not talking about the use of songs like 'everybody' by the back street boys, I'm talking about the orchestra-type music. I feel like it is often used/ over-used at inappropriate times or the mood of the music doesn't match the mood of the scene and therefore takes away from the scene rather than adding to it. Even when it does match the scene, the music itself is so distracting, (this might just be because I'm now hyper-aware of it) I have never watched a show that uses background music so heavily.
I've also noticed that this is mainly an issue in scenes with Klaus. I know Klaus is a light hearted character but the 'silly Klaus' music they play every time he opens his mouth is unnecessary a lot of the time. They sometimes play the 'silly Klaus' music in scenes were what Klaus is expressing/experiencing is quite serious/ dark. Klaus is quite a tragic character when you think about it. in the future I'd personally like to see them go more into his addiction issues in a serious manner rather than the silly/quirky way they have so far. It is a shame because Klaus' actor and lines are both brilliant, but the theme music is taking away from the character.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this or if this is something that has been bugging anyone else?

In the alternate version of history after the JFK assassination is disrupted, and subsequently blamed on the Soviet Union, about a week or so later the USA and Soviet Union go to war about a week later.
Conventional wars and invasions take months to plan for, and only a week into the war, we already see Soviet troops, tanks, and MiGs in Dallas.
How is this possible?
