A list of puns related to "Two Trees"
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Going out to rake every single walnut before letting my dog out every time would be almost inconceivable. The walnuts have also fallen on and damaged our patio furniture as well as our gutters.
Additional detail in reply to comment by u/Sys32768: βWe bought the home a little over a year ago and got a dog well after that, knowing full well the walnuts would become our issue, as the trees and my neighbor have certainly been there much longer.
I donβt mean to come off as complaining whatsoever. I suppose my reasoning for asking is to avoid any potential bad blood between me and my new neighbor as I begin the conversation with them about wanting to potentially trim large parts of their beautiful old trees.β
Of course, my first course of action would be discussing the issue with my neighborβthis noted, Iβm looking for recommendations on how to approach them with the situation and where the responsibility falls for the pet danger concern and for the property damage issue.
Hey!
The highly anticipated update with a new batch of mission trees has finally been released for Missions Expanded. If you missed the mention in our last dev diary, or are only notified about it now, here are the new missions:

>"for the light of Aman was not yet dimmed in their eyes, and they were strong and swift, deadly in anger, and their swords were long and terrible. The Orcs fled before them, and they were driven forth from Mithrim with great slaughter, and hunted over the Mountains of Shadow into the great plain of Ard-galen, that lay northward of Dorthonion."
The implication seems to be that the light from the Two Trees was empowering Feanor and his cadre. Other parts of The Silmarillion also address power from the light of the Two Trees and how the elves of Aman who had seen it were particularly wise, fair, and mighty. Examples include Thingol who was numbered among the High Elves even though he was of the Sindar, and Fingolfin's host that was also noted to be exceptionally powerful, etc.
But was the light of the Two Trees directly responsible for that power, or was it mostly symbolic? Did it actually impart something to the elves, or was it that, living within sight of the Trees, the Vanyar, Noldor, and Teleri also thrived during an extended period of peace while they learned from and were influenced by the Ainur?
As far as I know, Tolkien makes no direct claims about the power of the light of the Trees, beyond being bright and beautiful and sacred, but he also seems to heavily imply that the light was empowering in many ways.
I go back and forth - on the one hand, I can't think of any mechanism for how the light made the elves so great and it strikes me that there would at least be mention of how that worked. It also does seem that the circumstances of the elves in Aman would have been enough to enable their supremacy over the other peoples and creatures of Middle Earth.
On the other hand, you'd think that cosmically radiant trees that were the progenitors of the sun and the moon might also offer some ancillary benefits to the peoples who hallowed and helped maintain them. There is also the fact that the Silmarils, artefacts forged using the light of the Trees, burn characters who are tainted by evil or darkness a la Maedhros and Carcharoth. However, the characters who aren't tainted, like Beren, Thingol, and Elwing, also don't seem to derive any additional enhancement that isn't just symbolic. So I dunno.
Is there any more information in the Legendarium on the nature of the Trees, their power, and their effec

(I am still on the fence about getting a drip system) And I've been wondering why the trees seem to be growing well despite the fact that other than these two spots they are not being watered at all. (Also, of course these trees and bushes are fairly drought tolerant too.) Or maybe most of the roots are just growing in these two spots where I have the hose? What do y'all think? I'm really curious. I seem to be doing the contrary of the advice about putting a RING of drippers or soaker hose around the dripline of the tree.
