This is my first post on Reddit, so, sorry if this is a long story.
My ex, which I will refer to as G, and I were together for close to 4 years on and off the end of my freshman to senior year of high school, and ended in the beginning of 2018. Our relationship was rocky, look and beyond perfect, but it was pure. For me, my love for G was very real. It consumed me in a way nothing in life ever has. I would have, and would still, do just about anything for G, despite his infidelity and cruelty.
I was mentally unstable for the beginning of our relationship, off and on different birth controls, living with separated parents and having to pick up my belongings and move them back and fourth for years, and suffering from untreated sexual trauma and depression. I attempted suicide once in our relationship, and he left me in the hospital, saying he couldn't handle my insecurities (mind you at the time I never blamed him for my actions, or said he was the reason I attempted.)
We reconnected several months after my attempt, due to another story for another subreddit, but he was forced back into my life by my mom, and we wound up back together (not by her intent she claims.) We moved in together, to him I just showed up, but he never asked me to leave, and that he was happy I was there, until months later. Granted I never asked, I wanted a home, a place to settle and not feel like I had to move every week. G's grandfather was struggling, and G was balancing college, work, and his grandfather. I ended up helping G's grandfather throughout the day, doing chores and still working part time.
During this time, G came to me with a horrible secret, which is another long story for another subreddit, but basically he slept in a threesome with OUR best friends while we werent together. Granted, these friends were more his than mine. Maybe he wanted to sabotage, maybe he genuinely couldn't be with me again with this lie on his back, but I stupidly, forgave him, but I was cutting the "friend's" from my life, and that if he wanted to be with me he had to do the same, since G clearly couldn't help the impulse to keep friends just friends.
A few months go by and..the 2017 Tubbs fire sweeps through my town, nearly killing us. We awoke 1:40, and the sky was grey with smoke, couldn't see a foot outside the window. I'm a Santa Rosa native, although I no longer live there. I'm currently writing a story set in the direct aftermath of the 2017 October fires.
I was wondering how long people in Santa Rosa were wearing air filter masks.
The fires were 100% contained by October 31st according to Wikipedia. So were people still wearing masks into November? If so, then how long were people wearing them?
Also, I'd appreciate links to any bloggers, vloggers, or in-depth articles that describe the first-hand experiences of people dealing with the fire. I'm looking for the boring details related to dealing with cleanup, getting insurance payouts, and anything else that's not likely to be covered in detail in news articles.
