A list of puns related to "Trunk Or Treat"
This year my work decided to do their very first trunk or treat. It was for the coworkers and their immediate families. We have our own little PoGO community here that raids on breaks and lunches at the building next door. One of us had the idea to make a Pokemon GO themed trunk and it turned out great. I think she did a pretty bang up job :D.
Without fucking dogs everywhere. Went to two trunk or treats over the weekend. First one was pretty big. It was outdoors in a shopping strip with inflatables and businesses handing out candy to children. Cue fucking nutters. There were probably five dogs here. Two little ones, a collie, a huge yellow lab looking thing (super chonk) and of course, since it's a children's event, some ugly ass pit bull wearing a sweater. They all bother me, but the land shark most of all. It was with some lone male probably in his 30s. Not once did I see him with his kids (not even sure if he had any) or with a booth. All things considered, he really looked like he was there for the sole purpose of getting people to pay attention to his stupid fucking dog. It was not only super annoying not to be able to enjoy the event to it's fullest potential because some ass hat had to bring his pit bull to a children's event, making me nervous the entire time, but also kinda creepy how he seemed to be trying to get kids to pet his puppy. On our way back to the car my bf saved me from stepping on a giant area of smeared dog shit (because of course it belongs in the parking lot near the bouncy houses and families trying to walk back to their car). Second trunk or treat had a truck that wasn't even decorated, but had two dogs leashed to it πππ Can people seriously just keep these things at home?? No need to mix strange dogs with huge throngs of excited and unfamiliar children in costumes.
I remembered this just recently. It happened probably 10 years ago or so. When my wife was called to lead the Activities Committee for our ward in Northern Utah County, one of the first things they wanted her to do was to co-ordinate Trunk or Treat.
The strange coincidence is that some of the only people in the neighborhood that weren't active LDS were the two houses next to ours. We had been talking with one of the neighbors a few days before and they brought up the fact that they really hated Trunk or Treat because their kids felt so excluded. When we brought up the fact that they could participate, we got that stare that clearly communicated that they weren't going to drive to a church somewhere outside of the neighborhood to participate in an activity that made them feel left out. We got it.
So, fast forward to Ward leadership planning meeting. The bishop asks my wife about Trunk or Treat as an activity. The primary president looked on, glowing in anticipation. "We aren't doing Trunk or Treat" said my wife. There was a gasp, some concerned looks, a poignant moment as the bishop tried to understand what was happening. The bishop was actually a really cool, humble guy and when he asked why, my wife went on to explain why it wasn't a good activity and didn't include non-members. In fact, it drove a wedge in the community and made them feel excluded. There were several "But, but, but..." moments from the Primary president. Finally the bishop could see the issues that it caused outweighed the fun for the kids and pulled the plug and started asking about the Christmas Party.
As a TBM I was so proud of my wife for standing up to ward tradition in the name of what was actually best for our little neighborhood and our neighbors.
Car Camping should totally go all out with haunted house camp sites and Trunk or Treating on Thursday night
I remember, back when I was a kid, we started Trick or Treating when the sun went down. It was creepy, magical, and fun. It only ended when people started shutting their porch lights off.
I live in a bit of a rural area so, to some extant, Trunk or Treats make sense as it's hard for kids to trick or treat when you have a population of less than 600 spread out over 100 square miles. That said, when I was a kid we'd just drive into one of the neighboring cities. Today, when I drove into town, kids were Trunk or Treating in the middle of the day! On October 19th!
In cities I'm starting to see kids going out way before dark and essentially trick or treating in the late afternoon on Halloween.
I feel like a bit of an old man screaming at clouds (despite the fact that I'm only in my 30s) but I feel like early trick or treating or trunk or treating are taking all the magic out of Halloween. It's supposed to be dark, creepy, and fun! Not a bland excuse for daytime candy.
From what I understand trunk or treat is trick or treating but in the church parking lot/building, then the parents don't let the kids go trick or treating? Am I correct? I mean that doesn't surprise me in the least considering the insulating nature of the church, but just want to make sure I understand, trunk or treat is ruining kids' abilities to have fun outside of a Mormon bubble?
Ever since the rise of trunk or treat Halloween is not a special day. There are like 50 different places to get candy the weekend before and parents don't bother to take kids around the block. Might have to walk a mile.
Hi everyone! Have any of you been to a trunk of treat? I am volunteering at one for a local domestic violence shelter. The candy is provided but i was thinking of bringing some little playdoughs in case someone has allergies.
But the thing is I need to decorate my trunk. Since Iβve never been to one I donβt know what to do. Any ideas? Iβm going to check Pinterest but wasnβt sure if anyone has any experience.
Edit: Iβm thinking of being Velma for Halloween so I was thinking maybe scooby doo theme. Would kids now get the reference?
Me: I will go and take the kids. I'll even dress up.... as a Mason!
DW: You have a Mason costume?
She thinks about it for a second, laughs and calls me an asshole.
I'm calling this progress!
The blew my mind. There are a myriad of reasons a parent could want their child to not join the military. But THIS is the reason!?!?! I found it more than a bit ironic.
Edited to add above opinion.
It was 4:30 PM on October 26th, this past Saturday, when my six-year-old son and I pulled into the parking lot of our local park. We found a spot and joined the rest of the people who had volunteered to participate in our townβs annual Trunk-or-Treat that day. A little background on us, so that things make a little more sense, I am 22 years old, so I had Haylen at 16. His father wasnβt the best towards me and is quite honestly a pathetic piece of shit, so I damn well was not going to let him hurt my son. I have full custody of him, for good reason. I am a good mom. I have protected him from the moment I discovered that I was pregnant, okay? Being a single parent is not easy, alright? But it is not impossible. My mom and dad have always been super supportive of me and have helped wherever they can. The only issue and roadblock we have run into is the fact that, well...
Haylen isnβt like other little boys. He wants dolls and βgirlyβ things for his birthday and for Christmas. He wants to wear mommyβs makeup and wear dresses. And you know what, I let him. Despite my Christian parentsβ disapproval, I buy him whatever doll he wants and clothes that he likes. Because I mean hey, Iβve always been a tomboy and I got all the trucks, action figures and video games that I wanted, so why canβt my son be into what heβs into? Why is there a double standard? Iβm sorry. It just really pisses me off because since what happened Saturday, everyone is blaming ME and calling ME a horrible parent because I, apparently, allowed my son to βlook like a sissyβ (in their words) and THATβS why he was taken. And granted, he hasnβt come out and told me that he wants to be a girl. So, he does identify as a boy and quite honestly, I donβt care whether he does or not because he is my child and I love him.
And weβre from a tiny town in Alabama, of all places, mind you. So, you could imagine all the looks we got whenever Haylen and I got out of the truck, with him dressed like the character Mercy from Overwatch. And my son has naturally blonde hair, like mine, so he spent all year growing it out just for this costume. It was βhis dreamβ to be Mercy, he said. I ordered his costume, custom made and all. It was sick. The wings and the staff had lights and it was amazing. My hair is dyed grey, so I went with being a gender-bent Soldier 76; my costume also custom made. We let down the tailgate, set up our little decorations and had our bowls of candy ready by five when the kids started pouri
... keep reading on reddit β‘JE trunk or treat I apologize for the awful quality, but I didn't want to disturb them as they were with their kids. Jenelle, David, Jace, Kaiser, Ensley and Maryssa were at my local trunk or treat! Jace was such a sweetheart and told a lady that had a dog where the "doggy water fountain" was. Jenelle was some kind of deer, and David was dressed in camo, with camo face paint and leaves on him. He was actually very attentive to Kaiser and pushed him on the baby swing. This post is pointless, just thought I'd share lol
My kids were both dressed as Pokemon for Halloween so we built a Pokemon stadium to decorate our trunk for Trunk or Treat. Probably took about 15 hours but they thought it was fun.
