Hi,
This year marks my high-school graduation and I am to submit a small quote as part of this.
As the edgy teen I am, I thought chosing a Latin tricolon would be cool. Perhaps something similar to Julius Caesars Veni, vidi, vici.
I looked a little bit into the grammar and thought of my own variation; Veni, valui, vixi, which still maintains the three v's and a similar ending syllable as Caesars.
Yet, I'm not quite sure wether the translation works. I tried using the words venire, valere and vicere to say something in the lines of I came, I was strong, I survived/prevailed, to convey the meaning of; I entered high-school, I worked hard and was strong in doing my best etc. and I survived and eventually got through and graduated. How close is this translation? Does it work at all, or does it sound clunky?
In case anyone has other suggestions for tricolons I'm open aswell.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

George Orwell’s 1984's representation of brutalized individual and collective human experiences under an intrusive totalitarian regime, invites readers to reconsider restrictive norms that suppress freedoms. INGSOC controls the collective by malforming experiences of language to be oversimplified, restricting thought outside the jurisdiction of their enforced paradigms. We see the ramifications of language’s decay within Winston’s psyche as he is discontent with restriction of one’s expression. Orwell represents genuine love as a non-existent experience clouded with state mandates to halt individuals from developing their own desires, allowing INGSOC to maintain power over the collective. INGSOC is also presented to completely blemish experiences of individuality, both through the complete conformity of the collective, and the final conformity of Winston, who was contrastingly initially rebelling against INGSOC’s intruding control. By representing the decayed personal and shared human experiences within INGSOC’s totalitarian regime, we as an audience gain a deeper appreciation for the freedoms we have and become more politically vigilant.
INGSOC attempts to rid the collective’s and individual’s meaningful experiences of language by reducing their cognitive ability in a bid to repel stray thoughts that may conflict with the Party’s control. We see this scathing impact of the language’s reduction within the societal anomaly, Winston, as he grows to desire individual expression, but cannot due to INGSOC’s strict laws, leaving him in discontent. Orwell presents this to the audience through the intimate visual imagery of “smooth creamy paper, a little yellow by age.”, exuding a passionate tone, reflecting Winston’s deep desire to use language in a society juxtaposed with “no colour..except the posters” which are products of propaganda instilled to brainwash the collective. As Winston becomes a societal inconsistency for something as simple as wanting to use his cognition by expressing himself through language, this burlesque dynamic showcases the great extent of manipulation INGSOC has done for the control of society. This is further reinforced in the unsettling tricolon of “WAR IS PEACE | FREEDOM IS SLAVERY | IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH,” the Party’s slogan, of which serves as an overt demonstration of doublethink.
