A list of puns related to "Tragic Kingdom"
I was EXTREMELY excited when after one Christmas event I saw the festive zed skins remain permanently on in the Santaβs Workshop map, that mapβs really not the same without them, the sounds and visuals of the Christmas Zeds really bring it together and make it one hell of an experience. Best part, itβs always there.
I love the normal zed skins in the more normal themed maps, but just like Santaβs Workshop is just meant to have those festive zeds, I think Tragic Kingdom is just meant to have the sideshow zeds. I mean the map is themed around them with all those posters featuring their awesome designs, plus the carnival/amusement park setting with the laughs of those clowns dashing towards you? Man itβs so damn badass to mow down the giggling freak show in their colorful home turf. (Hell when the power flicks off every now and then hearing all those laughs coming for you but not quite seeing them anymore is legitimately a bit creepy!)
I really really hope that The Tragic Kingdom alone keeps these zeds year round, just like Santaβs Workshop already does. I genuinely play nothing but Tragic Kingdom nonstop during the summer because I love it so much with its zeds, and just canβt enjoy the map the same without them when theyβre out of seasonβ¦ and thatβs a huge shame because Tragic Kingdom is such a well designed map!
On this day 25 years ago, which according to our last census results is firmly before most of you were botn, No Doubt released their third studio album, Tragic Kingdom.
Preceded by their self titled debut, in 1992, and The Beacon Street Collection, in March of 1995, Tragic Kingdom was released to mostly positive reviews.
The album cycle kicked off with the first, of 7!!, singles on September 21st, 1995. That single was the Gwen Stefani and Tom Dumont penned track Just a Girl.
The other singles released were;
Spiderwebs - November 19, 1995
Don't Speak - April 15, 1996
Excuse Me Mr. - August 21, 1996
Sunday Morning - May 27, 1997
Happy Now? - September 23, 1997
Hey You! - February 23, 1998
The ska punk/new wave influenced record would go on to sell over 16 million copies, hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 and earn 2 Grammy nominations. (For Best New Artist and Best Rock Album.)
Their next record would be Return of Saturn in April of 2000.
This is my second favorite No Doubt record, after 2001's Rocky Steady, and it holds a very special place in my ska loving heart. The entire 14 song tracklist slaps, and for a brief fleeting moment in high school I was in a No Doubt cover band. When I saw brief, I mean really brief, we lasted 3 weeks. But we had a name, Yes Doubt.
And fun fact! About 12 years ago I was on vacation in the US Virgin Islands, due to the close proximity of the British Virgin Islands I kept my phone off mostly so I wasn't hit with roaming charges. Occasionally, I'd turn it on to check texts and voicemails. WELL, in those olden days you'd have to dial for your voicemail and if your phone was off you wouldn't always see missed calls. Someone I knew called me and sang the chorus of Spiderwebs as a message. To this day I have no idea who it was, and I wish I still had that voice mail, it was a very soothing sounding rendition.
Anyway, stream No Doubt, the superior Gwen Stefani musical project.
In episode 671, Jack and Miles are joined by the Forgotten: Women of JuΓ‘rez's cohost Oz Woloshyn to discuss Disney re-opening this past weekend, white supremacy terrorism watch, millionaires begging to be taxed, and more!
FOOTNOTES:
Personally I would say it would HV to be Sun Quan lol, he rlly fcked his dynasty over due to the succession issue with his sons, insisting on appointing the younger over the elder, more capable son, and up to tht point he was at the lowest point of a tumble he had undertaken ever since the middle of his reign in Wu. Early on he was gr8 and fantastic and solid as a ruler, but honestly imo he just got too short-tempered and irrational over time, refusing more and more to heed his advisors' counsel, which possiblyyyy reflected a mental decline tbh from the way he for instance, wanted to lock Zhang Zhao inside his house out of anger coz the former was right abt the futility and waste of resources trying to build relations with Liaodong(lol r u ok mate? U were wrong get over it)
But honestly wht a tragedy....tht a young talent tht proved himself capable and full of gd leadership qualities ultimately became a victim of his own pride and self-assurance in his choices...indeed a shame considering he lived the longest out of all the original three kingdoms rulers. Imo he wasted it all away and threw his kingdom to the point of no return with his wrong choices l8er on, killing many of the nation's talents in the process of trying to settle who should be his heir. Maybe he could HV united China under a new Sun Dynasty were he maybe less egotistical and bad tempered but who knows. Besides the three kingdoms were alr in a perpetual stalemate by the time Sun Quan was the only original ruler remaining out of all the 3 kingdoms, so maybe even if he were better he couldn't change fate tht much perhaps. But thts just guessing.
So who r ur fav tragic three kingdoms characters?
I've been playing League since Season 3, and as a result, the Ruined King was always a character people were wondering about.
I always pictured him as a Macbeth type character. A dude who was so in love with his wife that he couldn't bear to be without her. A wise king, leader of a bountiful land and beloved by his people. He lost his mind after losing his wife and tragically damned not only himself, but his entire kingdom.
Instead we got the brat who was not a good king. He didn't want to be king at all. They completely ripped the tragedy out of the ruined king.
