I know this a exjw place but please someone tell me they saw that game of Throne episode.
This occurred to me last night when we saw Petyr lying in the shadows, watching Arya stalk him in nearly the exact manner only a few frames prior. Not that it takes a whole lot of training to be a creepy voyeur, but the more I thought about it...
Now take this with a grain of salt, I'm basing this on the events of the TV show alone, not the books. The TV show has already proven to carve its own canon.
Now here's what we know about the Many Faced God.
So who else would want to see the world torn by war, other than the God of Death himself? And who better to serve him than the man responsible for the War of Five Kings? And isn't it weird how Petyr knows so many people and travels virtually everywhere without anyone really paying any notice?
Most importantly, the Valyrian Steel Dagger. Guess where the Many Faced God religion originated? Yep. Valyria. Guess who's dagger started the War of Five Kings by trying to assassinate the Stark family heirs? Good 'Ole Petyr. This is even referenced more recently when Baelish gave the dagger to Bran, noting the dagger's importance.
I'm not the best at explaining it maybe, but I think it's becoming more and more obvious.
Serious question. Am I missing something? I know it is an immediate target to removal but is there other reasons people don't run this card in elves? Its not like its that slow with it being 2 mana. I recently sleeved elves at my local FNM and it's proved a great card in some matches. Threw a few people off guard even.
[[Throne of the God-Pharaoh]]
I donβt know if the Many Faced God is the greatest but the mythos about the god and the faceless men are the coolest story in my opinion.
Rewatch the first episode. First... Bran. Notice the STAGGERING number of references that are made to him seeing, watching, etc.
Second... Arya. This goes beyond her being tomboyish. She has multiple sneak attacks and she NEVER misses. The key is stealthy attacks. She sneak attacks Sansa and she hits the bullseye before anyone is even dily aware she picked up a bow.
Jon Snow.. supports everyone all the time.
Jaime Lannister.. in his very first scene he says that the hand is an honor he could do without. Pretty fucking foretelling.
Theon Greyjoy IMMEDIATELY goes to kill the dire wolves. Doesn't even question it.
Sansa Stark is one of the more deceptive.. she's complimented in everything she does and Cercei flat out says she belongs in the Capital.. so how does this play into Sansa a d her political future? Because Cercei instantly sees Sansa as a threat and in the Capital is where she would be most vulnerable.
There's more but you get the idea...
I believe that the universe of Game of Thrones is a duotheistic one. There are two "real" gods, neither of them objectively good or evil, but both of them locked in a metaphysical struggle that plays out in the real world. These two gods are the Lord of Light and the God of Death. In the coming struggle, the Lord of Light is on the side of humanity, and the God of Death on the side of the dead; I don't know why, but I imagine those are just the forces chosen for the gods' chess match. They are the only gods, and all of the religions are either worshipping one or both of them, or fabrications of man. The various divine powers some of the religions give are derived from these two. Of the religions of Westeros:
R'hllor - rather straightforward, has a pretty good idea of what's going on, struggle with the Nameless Other, Prince that was Promised (by the Lord of Light to win his fight for him).
God of Many Faces - another manifestation of the God of Death. Whether the assassins factor into the larger plan with the walkers, I don't know, but I can imagine why a God of Death would want to spread more death. The conflict between the two likely plays out everywhere, and the walkers wouldn't be the God of Death's only angle.
The Seven - An analog to the real-world church, the Seven likely simply represents human belief, not with any real god behind it. An argument could be made that the Seven in One could be one or the other, but I doubt it; the philosophy is more widely encompassing, and we don't see divine magic displayed through the Seven ever.
Old Gods: trees.
Storm God/Drowned God: the Iron Islands seem to also have a decent idea of what's going on, showing another representation of the duotheistic nature of the world. The Storm God is the Lord of Light(ning), and the Drowned God is the God of Death, still locked in struggle.
Mother Rhoyne - likely another religion sprung from the minds of worships, Rhoyne could possibly be a version of the Lord of Light, representing the life-giving side of him.
Of the many Essosi religions, some likely touch on one or the other essences; the Lady of Spears of the Unsullied, for instance, might be derived from the God of Death, and the Lord of Skies/Lady of Waves relationship might be an inversion of the Storm God/Drowned God idea.
The best I can think of is "titles", but I seem to recall there being a specific word or phrase for this. I just can't remember what it is.
In Revelation 4: 2-3, the apostle, John, gives a description of God sitting upon his throne in heaven..
- "At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby."
But in Exodus 33: 20, God says that no man may see him and live..
- But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
Therefore, John must be behind the throne of God instead of in front of it when he witnesses things happening in heaven. Everything that God does in Revelation is with his back turned to John. Otherwise, John wouldn't have been able to live and tell the tale.
What are your thoughts on this subject?

Edit: I missed the v for vendetta reference on the first. The second is games of Thrones.
