A list of puns related to "The Lays Of Beleriand"
Hello.
So I've again found myself down the rabbit hole of trying to find the best representation of how Beleriand/The land under the waves, fits into Middle-earth.
I think I've narrowed it down to two versions:
Karen Wynn's map where the River Adurant, southernmost river leading into River Gelion, stops just before the Misty Mountains ends: https://i.imgur.com/SYprfJE.png
Then we have an image that has been replicated many times (including on a poster I'm thinking about buying). I've seen some people say this version makes Beleriand far too large and I'm assuming it's because the seven rivers start further down and so Adurant is now across from Mordor: https://i.imgur.com/BZQSj88.jpg
I can't seem to figure out why the 2nd version would have the 6 rivers much further down. I could very well be wrong but it seems to be a question of if the river Ascar starts around the area where the Gulf of Lune is and Andurant stops across from the end of the 'Harlindon' text or not.
Edit: Put simply in Karen Wynn's version the 6 rivers start (with river thalos) across from the halfway point of the misty mountains, whereas on the option 2, for some reason, thalos starts around where the third age blue mountains end and extend further down.
Can you think of a reason why no.2 might not actually be wrong? Eager to read your opinions. Thanks!
The humans, elves, and dwarves living in Beleriand spent hundreds of years at war with Angband. Why didn't they withdraw east of the Blue Mountains to a safer location, especially once Angband took the advantage?
Apologies for missing Mondayβs post. I blame the machinations of Morgoth. Or possibly a busier weekend than I was expecting. One of the two.
#Summary
In secret Turgon built the city of Gondolin in hidden valley that Ulmo had shown him. When it was completed, he led the Sindar and Noldor of Nevrast there, hidden from sight by Ulmoβs power so no one would see where they had gone. And Ulmo cautioned Turgon that Gondolin would endure the longest of the Noldorβs realms in Beleriand, but was still under the Doom of Mandos. When that point was drawing close, Ulmo would send a messenger with a warning. To prove his veracity, Turgon left arms and armor made according to Ulmoβs specifications in his halls in Nevrast for this future messenger to bear.
Meanwhile, while Finrod was building Nargothrond, Galadriel was living in Doriath and Melian. None of the Noldor had said anything about what had happened between the death of the Trees and their arrival in Middle-earth, and they had especially not said anything to Thingolβs household. Melian pressed Galadriel on this, and made a number of very shrewd guesses as to all that had happened, and Galadriel spoke a bit more, telling Melian of the Silmarils and the death of FinwΓ«. She said nothing of the Oath of FΓ«anor, the Kinslaying at AlqualondΓ«, or the burning of the Swan-ships, though, and Melian knew she still held things back. Melian told all she had heard, and all she suspected, to Thingol, who wasnβt overly concerned. To him the news just proved the Noldor would be stronger allies against Morgoth, though Melian urged him to be wary of the Sons of FΓ«anor especially.
Eventually, however, rumors of all that had happened reached Thingol, and he confronted Finrod and his brother Angrod about it. Finrod was reluctant to speak against the other princes of the Noldor in front of Thingol, but Angrod spoke bitterly about the Kinslaying and the Doom of Mandos and the crossing of the HelcaraxΓ«. Thingol was (justifiably) angry, but prepared to maintain friendship with the houses of Fingolfin and Finarfin. But he forbade the use of the tongue of the Noldor in his realm, and commanded the Sindar to shun those who spoke it. This they did, and the language of the Noldor disappeared from everyday use.
After Nargothrond was completed, Galadriel asked Finrod about his having no wife. Finrod, with foresight, said that he would one say swear an oath and would need to be free to fulfill it, and that in any case he wouldnβt leave anyt
... keep reading on reddit β‘How did the people in Beleriand survive the battle that changed the shape of the world with the fall of Numenor? Sorry if this is silly, but I have always had a hard time understanding how the elves didn't all drown.
Where they connected and where? I've tried to figure this out, but there are different opinions and maps on the internet. What are your opinions?
They're calling them microchips.

Here's the most interesting bits from the "Kes and Juice" podcast:
The Tkachuk blindside hits on Kassian β with a winger coming down low to hit an opposing forward coming around the net β is the Raffi Torres hit, Kesler said. βThe fact that the league is defending that, and basically ran Raffi out of the fucking league because of those hits, and then Tkachuk does it twice in one game. To be honest we all know what Tkachuk is doing, heβs trying to hurt him.β
Kesler said he had no problem when Torres made such hits, but he made clear that the NHL is not being at all consistent as it had outlawed that kind of blindside hit. He then turned to Tkachukβs conduct: βIf Tkachuk is going to play like that, he has to fight. Period.β
Kesler said he lost the majority of his fights and fought players tougher than he was. βYou got to at least throw. You canβt just turtle like he did after you throw two clean but dirty hitsβ¦I love that Kassian is receiving so much respect and congratulations from other players and GMs around the league. I think everybody that knows the game of hockey thinks what Kassian did was right.β
Kesler: βIf I was Tkachuk Iβd line up at the first face off and fight him. You have to. Or itβs just going to keep dragging on, keep dragging on, heβs just to keep chasing you around, and the same thing is going to happen again. To be honest, I blame Tkachuk for it. If he had just manned up and fought him right away all of this would have been over and done.β
PS - FUCK KESLER and FUCK THE DUCKS
