A list of puns related to "The God Awfuls"
After a particularly hot and busy shift one night I walked into the break room where several other staff members were hanging out either on their break or done for the evening. One of them, noticing how sweaty I'd gotten in the heat, asked if I was okay. With a glint in my eye and a devious grin I turned to them and replied:
"just call me mayonnaise..." *confused looks on everyone's faces* "...because I'm egg-sauce-ted"
Having been the only dad in a room full of young folk I'd seen an opportunity I couldn't resist and taken it. I was greeted by a chorus of pained groans as everyone tried to un-hear my god-awful play on words only to discover that it was indelibly etched in their minds, permanently taking up a small piece of otherwise-useful brain space.
Needless to say, it was immensely satisfying. They may not have laughed but I laughed harder than I have in a good while.
A bloke has been feeling unwell, decides to go the doctor to get checked out.
Doctor: I'm afraid you've got a terminal illness, uncureable, only 200 or so people in the country have it.
Bloke: My god that's awful what's it called?
Doctor: I'm afraid to say sir, you've contracted Yellow 34
Bloke goes home to his wife, sitting in the kitchen all sad. Tells the wife: darling I've been to the doctor's, I have an illness called Yellow 34, it's uncureable and I'm really worried.
Wife: I'm so sorry darling but it sounds like nothing we can do Why don't you come to Bingo to take your mind off it?
@Bingo
Bloke wins 3 games in a row, full house every time, can't believe his luck. Goes up to collect his prize for the 3rd time.
Bingo caller: Sir, I've been calling number here for 15 years and never seen anything like it, you must be the luckiest person in the world.
Bloke: To be honest mate, I've had some bad news today, just came to Bingo to take my mind off it.
I've got Yellow 34.
Bingo caller: Fucking hell, you've won the bloody raffle as well!!
I asked two friends for the best pun Bond would utter if he'd just shoved a bad guy into a huge industrial deep-fat fryer. Their responses were:
Friend #1: "Play with fryer, get burnt.
(Isn't there an old saying of don't play with fire unless you want to get burnt?)"
Friend #2: "Why is my instinct to say cool off there?
Let's assume it's christmas. 'Thats a real Crisped Kringle' is what I'd say
Or do I know the guy's dad? Let's say I do. 'Youre a chip of the old block'"
I know, I need new friends. Do me a favour redditors and please tell me whose pun is least awful? And if you have any better ones, I'm all ears! (Mine was "Thank God it's fry day", I'm sure you can all do better).
I'm working on a silly project for my job, and I'm trying to come up with punny fake names for the name tags. I work at a community bank - anything finance and banking product or industry related is good, I am god awful at puns and so far I've only got these:
Ann U. Ities Dee Posit Owen A. Lott
Punmasters and fans, lend me your talents? :)
Not a dad yet, but:
I've been working on fixing my god-awful penmanship lately, so I'll spend quite a long time writing the alphabet, transcribing tv show lines, or just page after page of single letters.
The other night, I had about half a page of capital B's done. My wife looks at it and asks what I'm doing. I reply, "Oh, just writing a letter."
She pretended she didn't hear it and just carried on with what she was doing. :(
Years ago I used to use a LexisNexis database of companies that would give corporate information like name, address, and general business description. While most of them were pretty bland, there were a bunch of them with some really cheesy puns, and over a few years I built quite a collection.
Today I share with you "NEXIS IS RIDICULOUS.txt":
All of them.
Dad told this to me while passing a cemetery with the stupid shit eating grin he wears whenever he tells his god awful jokes.
About a week ago, tonic water exploded out of the bottle as I was opening it, showering the kitchen. I was cleaning up, and decided to bust out the swiffer pad, because it's faster. (Heh.)
Anyway, this is the conversation that followed between my girlfriend and I.
> Her - Ugh those swiffer pads smell awful.
> Me - Really? Huh. I hadn't noticed.
> Her - Yeah, remind me to pick some up at the store.
A short silence.
> Me - Hey babe...?
> Her, leaving the room - I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU ARE REMINDING ME TO BUY SWIFFER PADS RIGHT NOW.
> Me - I'm not! Just wanted to say I love you.
> Her - Awww that is so sweet!
> Me - Also, remember to buy swiffer pads when you go to the store.
