A list of puns related to "The Companion Species Manifesto"
Currently rewatching New Who and about to start Season 4.
As far as I can tell, the companion has always been from "our time" and has been human. However there's been a few episodes I've watched just in the first few seasons where there was a character who I thought would have had great potential to be developed into a companion - specifically Lynda Moss in Bad Wolf/The Parting of Ways and Astrid Peth in The Voyage of the Damned.
There's been a few other characters that, while probably not companion material, I would have loved to have had seen their storylines develop including Madame de Pompadour in The Girl in the Fireplace and Novice Hame in New Earth/Gridlock.
What do you think?
Is there a reason we've never seen a companion that deviates from the model of someone from our time and is there any other characters who you'd have liked to have seen develop further?
My choices:
Misty=Corsola
Brock=Marshtomp
Tracey=Scyther
May=Beautifly
Dawn=Mammoswine
Iris=Excadrill
Cilan=Crustle
Clemont=Heliolisk
Serena=Pancham
By companion animal, I mean a domesticated species not used for food, materials, transport or communication, and fills a role similar to that of dogs and cats in human history i.e. used for hunting by early humans.
So I while looking through the species codex entries, I was thinking about what species that already exist in SWTOR would I like to see added as a companion. My top choices were Nikto, Flesh Raider, and Esh-Kha. Out of curiosity though, I'd be interested in seeing what other people would be interested in. So here is a complete list of species with codex entries, but no companion for reference:
Additional species without codex entries, but with combatants in game (probably more I am forgetting):
For completeness, species with codex entries, but I don't think have standard combat models...okay fine you do fight Hutts, but I don't think they are going to let you drag a Hutt on a combat walker around a planet. :P
So post who you would like to see. And if there is an existing NPC you would like to see as a companions (e.g., Daeruun for Krex) feel free to post that too.
Does anyone have information on bird companions? Just saw a youtuber using a type of hawk as a companion instead of the crow/raven. It would be interesting to see a variety of different species to use.
So any time ive tried to walk about this in comments or even written full posts on r/cats i get attacked - obv people dont like to be criticsed / judged especially in online communities (circlejerks?) So if i post here ill get a more neutral opinion and find out if i am in the wrong.
Get kitties neutered and then they can be free range cats and not confined.
Maybe its different here but in ireland ive only ever known one person to lock their cats in the house, out of fear something will happen and that cat just looks out the window longingly - the only real mammel interaction it gets is with its owner (only hoomon in the house)
Mid 30s now and my granny, mam, dad, aunt and myself have all had cats our whole lives - actually my house is sadly without a cat now - been waiting for one to just arrive and claim us but it hasent happened - and thats how we have always got our cats but i think we will get a rescue / older cats this time if none arrive soon.
Anyway cats are supposed to roam, yes in some places they are invasive and kill wild life but ours dont and we have a nature garden (haven't cut the grass or anything in years) i actually had a radom goverment mp type ring the dooorbell... he says he is not mine (dosent represent my area) but that he drives by regularly and had been meaning to stop in to say wild gardems are better than prettier ones and that its great for the enviroment - the point is loads of birds, the odd fox at night and because we feed our (never overweight) cats on demand they have never hunted - multiple cats over years . When my da and his girlfriend moved house in the 90s the cats did de mouse the house - must have been a few over weeks but none for years after that -Im no vet or nutritionist and i am aware r/chonkers and such is a problem- maybe we are just lucky ? But our cats just get fed when they ask, if they turn their nose up at something i feed them again straight away (different flavour - the only time last kitty killed something for me was when i went away for a week and came back then sunday night late woke up to a dead but uneaten present at the front door.
Im one of those people who used to differentiate between animals - the usual western shite - id see cats / dogs ect as companions and judge other countries for eating dog while i just saw cows as stupid grazing animals and wouldent put them into the same category. r/happycowgifs defo changed that for me - so is that why some people harness and what i would

Humans may be the only "civilized" species, but we still share this planet with a an encyclopedia's worth of different animals. Our resourceful ancestors practiced animal husbandry and domestication since the Stone Age, and they built the first permanent civilizations with the help of draft beasts and livestock. Going beyond mere exploitation, however, there is something beautiful about a genuine friendship between a man and beast.
So what's a creature that lives comfortably among the presence of your world's people? Dragons that share a mental link with their riders? Decorated warbeasts ready to fight and die alongside soldiers? Alien bugs and critters uplifted by nanotechnology? Little mammals that bring companionship to a household?
Describe the animal, their specialties and services, and their bond with people. I also encourage sharing any other relevant details such as location, breed variants, history, and/or ancestor species they were domesticated from.
Just an observation. When you're forced to see it hundreds of times because your kid wants to see it over and over again, you tend to over think things.
Edit: a lot of people are misinterpreting this. I'm not asking from a real world, biological standpoint. The characters are smart and have scruples, so incest would not be an option for them.
Edit 2: I didn't even know there was a second Rio.
