A list of puns related to "Thai Traditional Medicine"

Hi premedcanada! I'm a writer showcasing unique backgrounds of medical students in Canada.
I recently met a fourth year medical student who was a plumber in a rural town before he went back to school and completed an undergrad for medical school. He was telling me how the heart is similar to plumbing because of the valves and flow. It blew my mind and changed my perspective on how we perceive doctors and medical students.
Medical students come from such diverse backgrounds and these stories need to be shared! If you or you know anyone who has a great story to tell, please reach out to me.
Message me if you'd like to see a teaser of our latest spotlight, an awesome human who is starting medical school at 30 years old after taking taking a gap year and considering a career in photojournalism.
When it comes to subjects that might be considered, that are letβs say difficult to discuss, one of them are cultural practices and ingrained beliefs that are detrimental to the natural world.
In Western culture this comes in various forms (which Iβm sure most here are familiar with) such as everybody owning a car, foods from all over the world being readily available for consumption despite the tremendous cost, our love of meat, our love of being βmorally superiorβ, etc etc.
There of course is another issue that is often discussed surrounding this topic, and that is the issue of things such as βtraditional Chinese medicineβ which is popular world wide (despite not much scientific evidence proving its effectiveness per say).
Clearly I think it has been shown that certain treatments and practices within things like TCM have tremendous negatives despite not necessarily being helpful in some cases. However, in other cases there have been treatments and practices originating from TCM and systems like that are not simply just comprised of negatives and are also rather often nebulous in their βboundariesβ.
This topic of course has gained increased interest due to COVID-19 and the discussions related to the topic of TCM tied to it. Thereβs also the fact that the Chinese government also condones and sometimes even promotes TCM, as it is what one may call a βpillarβ of healthcare in China. However, the relationship varies from time to time as well, including this action last year
So Iβd like to have a discussion surrounding it to see the thoughts and opinions here.
I will leave some reading (some studies and other, more opinion based pieces) here:

I'd like to try TCM for additional support in managing my symptoms. Does anyone have recommendations of clinics that use herbal medicine and/or acupuncture? Preferably, with English-speaking doctors? Empathy and a good bedside manner would also be excellent... thanks to all for any advice you can provide!
You can see a video of the feature here or you can test it for yourself directly on Me & Qi's homepage.
Greetings,
I am a second year TCM student in the CA Bay Area. I really like my school even though practically my entire education so far has been online.... something I feel unsure and a bit insecure about as far as the rigor of my training thus far. While I like my school, I am feeling pretty unhappy living in the Bay Area. I don't think I want to live here for another 3-4 years if not more. I am feeling really drawn to Colorado. Has anyone here studied at the Colorado School of TCM in Denver? The school looks great to me from what I can see online but I have seen some mixed reviews (on yelp so.... who knows). Anyone attended the school or at least visited? Thanks for your help!!
Hello,
I am a 24 year old Registered Nurse, hoping to apply to med school in the distant future. I would love to hear your opinions and advices on whether I can be a competitive applicant.
Background: My ultimate goal during undergrad was to get my undergrad in hopes of having a secure career that paid fair. So I stuck with potential careers that I had no passion for just to have a stable life after college. Now that Iβm paying the price of my past decision and I feel unfulfilled with where I am. I love my patients and love taking care of them. However, the role of an RN does not give me fulfillment.
I graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing in 2020. It took me 5 years to finish my undergraduate degree, due to me switching majors during my sophomore year and also withdrawing from a nursing course. I was an exercise science major during my freshman year aiming to become a physical therapist however switched majors to nursing due to fearing job security in the future.
Now working as an RN, with previous experience as a CNA. I love taking care of my patients. But as cliche as it sounds I want to do more for them.
I have decided that I want to become a physician specifically DO due to personal reasons. My game plan is to either: get a second bachelors or take ALL prereqs as non degree, then MCAT.
My current undergrad stats are as followed: F15: 3.96, Sp16: 3.84 F16: 3.37 Sp17: 3.87 F17: 3.36 Sp18: 3.45 (1 withdrawn course) F18:3.40 Sp19: 3.35 (1 withdrawn course) F 19: 2.89 Sp: 3.54 (1 pass/fail class)
There are NO prerequisites during this undergrad that would apply to med at all. Hence why I will be doing a second bachelors or a DIY post bac.
My concerns are that my GPA has a downward trend, even having a 2.89 gpa for a semester
How would GPA trend affect my application in the future? Will my second bachelors be counted instead of my first bachelors? Would my plan be the best bet in hoping to get an acceptance?
Any suggestions and opinions are highly appreciated! Thank you!
Hello Everyone,
The schedule is posted here: https://t.me/joinchat/5DwE4n7dehRhODcx under the files tab. Must have telegram to join.
web novels are getting boring these days. I'd be more than happy to read anything new and interesting and pay if need be.
The story jumped back and forth between modern day (the cellist and the doctor, who were both women and Iβm pretty sure in a lesbian relationship) and Andreas Vesalius, before and after publishing his first book. The cover was black and may have had a fetus on it but I donβt really remember. Got it from a yard sale brand new about 8 or 9 years ago. I was probably too young to really get it at the time but would like to give it another shot. Thanks!
I think there was a similar post to this, but this is more of an emotional question...do u think you are missing out on something?
βGrass is greener on the other side.β I hear it all the time . Iβm mentioned previously Iβm in finance in nyc and I feel like Iβm missing out on the common STEM path of becoming a software engineer at a FAANG achieving good work life balance and living in SF or LA. I learned of a new term recently (yes βFOMOβ was new). My fantasy is to pursue media: whether itβs video editing, music production, social media content...any bros here are successful at this?
Being an Asian in the Midwest, I wasnβt into the βknowβ of things until I stumbled upon this sub. But now I am here, I feel the epitome of the βcoolβ Asian American guy is a guy in STEM living in Cali. Great work life balance. Time to gym. Time to meet girls. Idk, maybe Iβm overthinking it. But anyone in STEM here, and wanting to switching careers? I feel FOMO is hitting me hard in my mid 20s because investment banking = long hours (70-100) and besides some small pockets of time, my mind is concentrated on work. I remember there was a Korean guy here who is a chef making 50k...cool to see some of us out there killing it in...hopefully our passion? It could just be me..but I guess we Asians do well in the corporate race? We stick in there, make our money, keep our βheads downβ (not a good thing), get a girlfriend, married, have kids, and life is done soon after. Many years ago, I was working at a janitor during college (wouldnβt call it a job since my college job was part-time), but I had a sense of βFOMOβ so I decided to break into investment banking.
Now that Iβm in, now Iβm making 360k (projected all in comp, explained in a previous post), Iβm thinking there is more out there than a huge lump of money and bad work life balance. And even if I switched to less stressful job like corporate finance in tech or product management...am I missing about by not being a software engineer, by not being a med school students like my parents wished to be? Iβm already considering to visit California, thanks everyone in my post! But, guys in STEM, do you have FOMO as well?
Any comment is appreciated. I feel we need this. Even if I tell my friends, β I wanna a career change,β itβs too hard to understand: Thy tell me...itβs more like..βbro stay in your banking job, youβre making bank. We Asian gotta make tons of money, and we kill it at life.β Makes me feel sad that we ar

I want to know about traditional medicine in your settings!
Bonus points if you can also detail about the process of making a particular item (like an ointment or essential oil, be it that is somewhat different from how it would be made irl).
