A list of puns related to "Super Bowl Xiv"
For some perspective, this year, the 2 teams at the bottom of the league in terms of turning the ball over were the Titans and the Cowboys. Obviously, we know how that turned out (2 of the 4 worst teams in the league).
The two teams that turned the ball over the most in 1979 made it to the Super Bowl. I can't explain that one in the slightest bit.
I can't even say "different era" to this one. In 1978, the San Francisco 49ers led the league in turnovers, and they finished 2-14 (worst record in the NFL).
Somehow, the two teams that turned the ball over the most in 1979 made it to the Super Bowl.
I was wondering if Peyton's regular season stats were the worst ever for a (potential) Super Bowl starting QB. Turns out they aren't the worst, but a close second. In 1979, Rams' Vince Ferragamo finished the season with 5 TDs and 10 INTs (0.50 ratio) and ended up playing in the Super Bowl against the Steelers. Manning ended the 2015 regular season with a ratio of 0.53 (9/17), exactly the same number of TDs and INTs as Bart Starr after the 1967 season, when he won the Super Bowl against the Raiders.
Interestingly enough, both Manning and Starr also rank amongst the best ever. Peyton has the second-best TD/INT ratio for a SB starting QB: 5.50 in 2013 (55/10) - and Starr ranks third (4.67 or 14/3 in 1966).
The bottom-5:
Vince Ferragamo ('79 Rams): 0.50 (5/10)
Peyton Manning ('15 Broncos): 0.53 (9/17)
Bart Starr ('67 Packers): 0.53 (9/17)
David Woodley ('82 Dolphins): 0.63 (5/8)
Len Dawson ('69 Chiefs): 0.69 (9/13)
The top-5:
Tom Brady ('07 Patriots): 6.25 (50/8)
Peyton Manning ('13 Broncos): 5.50 (55/10)
Bart Starr ('66 Packers): 4.67 (14/3)
Donovan McNabb ('04 Eagles): 3.88 (31/8)
Roger Staubach ('71 Cowboys): 3.75 (15/4)
And a full list with the regular season TD/INT ratio for every QB that started a Super Bowl.
Looks like there is going to be an event at Adepticon. Can anyone explain the format to me? Am I supposed to sign up for both days or is it just two different distinct tournaments?

#Super Bowl XIV: Los Angeles Rams (NFC) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC)
For the past few years, the Rams had been one of the most aggravating teams to follow in the league. They had won the NFC West six consecutive times, but each time Los Angeles had failed to reach the Super Bowl, losing to either the Vikings or Cowboys. Ironically, it was their worst regular season in years that led them to finally claim the NFC title. The Rams won their seventh straight NFC West title in 1979 going only 9-7. In the regular season, Los Angeles was not spectacular, quarterback Pat Haden was injured and replaced with Vince Ferragamo, and the Rams only had a +14 point differential. But the NFC West was so bad, the Rams made it in the playoffs. They beat Dallas 21-19 in the divisional round, and in the NFC title game prevailed in a defense struggle 9-0 over Tampa Bay. Los Angeles had finally made it.
This is the fourth time I've talked about the 70's Steelers, and what else is there to say? The team was loaded with Hall of Famers unlike any time in NFL history, and in 1979 the story was the same. The offense put up 416 points, best in the league, and the defense allowed 16.5 po

That completed pass by McCutcheon which went for 24 yards and a touchdown? That was the first completed pass of his entire career. And it came against the Steel Curtain in the Super Bowl.
With that play, the Rams took a 19-17 lead at the end of the third quarter, although Pittsburgh would come back to win the game 31-19.
McCutcheon was a 5-time Pro Bowler, making it every year from 1973-77 with the Rams. His final season with the Rams in 1979 was his worst one, and it would be his last with the Rams before spending time with the Seahawks and Broncos in 1980. But he left on a bang, completing the first pass of his career for a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
The Rams tried that play 3 times before with McCutcheon, with all 3 times resulting in an incomplete pass (1975, 1978, and a playoff game in 1973). However, the one time it worked, it worked wonders. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that McCutcheon is the only player in Super Bowl history to accomplish this feat (where his first completed pass is a touchdown in the Super Bowl). Randle El completed 14 passes before his trick play TD pass in Super Bowl XL. McCutcheon completed none.

I have 2 that are so narrowly similar I can't decide what would be worse.
1a) Bucs vs Pats Super Bowl. This isn't a slight on either team and I'm sure it would be a good game. However, the Tom vs Bill narrative leading up to it may lead to me dying.
1b) Bucs vs Chiefs Super Bowl rematch. Again, nothing about the game itself worries me I just dread the thought of the narrative leading up to it.

We're all football fans here. Whether your team is in the Super Bowl or not, you're probably gonna watch it.
But what 2 teams, if they met up in the Super bowl this year, would be your nightmare scenario? By this, I mean there would be absolutely no excitement for either team to win, or any of the storyline leading up to the game?
I gotta go with Packers vs Chiefs. Thinking about Nick Wright being obnoxious over his favorite team (chiefs) with a whole 2 weeks of build up being stupid gloating.
Also, the fox sports and espn talking heads would be insufferable with their Rodgers/Mahomes is the GOAT talk.
Plus, the 2 teams don't have that long of droughts, and I'm already bored of the chiefs winning the afc I want new blood in there.
Hope this post is ok in here! Some friends and I are having a party / get together to watch the upcoming super bowl. As the host, Iβd very much like to offer some event-appropriate snacks, but not being American (weβre from Scandinavia), I could really use some input! Any super-bowl-snack-must-haves? And maybe why?
