MITB Contract vs WWE Contract: Dolph Ziggler def. Chris Jericho

Soon after winning the SD MITB contract, Ziggler is targeted by Jericho, who needs a way back to the World Title. After beating Ziggler on SD, he calls for a shot at the briefcase, but GM Vickie Guerrero makes it so he can only get the shot if he puts his WWE contract on the line. Jericho agrees, as this match is all or nothing and Ziggler is happy to be able to get Jericho out of his way permanently. At SS, the two go to war in a very technical match that sees Vicki help Ziggler to get the win by changing the rules mid match, allowing Ziggler to get a big advantage, eventually hit the Zig Zag, and cover him to retain the briefcase and send Jericho packing

Womens Championship: Layla (c) def. Natalya and Kaitlyn

Layla defends the Title against new rising star Kaitlyn who has potential to be a future Champ and former Champ Natalya, looking to reclaim her former glory. Kaitlyn outshines the other two and looks to have the match won over Natalya, but Layla swoops in and steals the win from under Kaitlyn’s nose, pinning Natalya to retain the Title

Kane def. Daniel Bryan

After AJ leaves him at the alter, Bryan desperately tries to get her back, which leads to AJ messing around with his rivals to torture him. She eventuality starts messing around with Kane, which leads Bryan into a SS match with the devil’s favorite demon. Bryan fights out of pure jealousy while Kane just wants to beat him and move on. Bryan takes advantage and starts to build momentum, but AJ comes out and distracts Bryan long enough for Kane to recover and hit him with a Chokeslam to get the win

United States Championship: Wade Barrett (c) def. Rey Mysterio

Barrett gets back in form, beating Zack Ryder for the US Title and winning all his matches through underhanded tactics. He’s soon confronted by a returning Mysterio and a match is made between the two for SS. Barrett needs to win this match to prove himself as a credible Champ and Mysterio wants to get back in form. The two go to battle at SS, where Mysterio is able to take control and the end seems to be near, but after a ref bump, Barrett introduces a steel chair and catches Mysterio with a chair shot in mid air when he tries a springboard attack. Barrett pins a KO’d Mysterio to retain the Title

Tag Team Championships: Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel (c) def. The Prime Time Players

*Kidd and Gabriel once again defend their Title

It wasn't long after the news broke on Tuesday morning that he(Roman) took credit for SummerSlam's success because his bout with Cena was the headlining attraction. Of course, it was an in-character tweet, but there's no denying the roll he's on right now and how there is some truth to his tweet. Riddle reacted to Reigns' response in the only fashion he could: brutally honest.

“No disrespect to Roman, he seems like a swell fella, but at the same time, it's like when people say they're a good parent," he said. "You know what? If you were a good parent, your kids would be telling you you're a good parent. When he's saying 'Acknowledge me' or 'I move the needle,' no, you don't. You're related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I'm not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth."

"You're not moving needles. I'm the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we're moving the needle, and that's it. I don't want to say too much, I'm not trying to get in trouble. Hey, hats off to him. He's amazing at what he does. I do like what he does, but at the same time, it's like, get off your high horse. You're in that spot for a reason. You're not a bro. You're second generation. I'm first generation."

• According to Dave, WWE learned Sasha wasn't going to be at Summerslam 8 DAYS AGO!!! Dave doesn't know whether they didn't think Becky was ready for a full match or whether this was just what they wanted to do. Apparently this is earlier than they had originally planned to bring Becky back. Dave agrees that Bianca should never have lost in 25 seconds. Also he didn't mention what Sasha is out with.
• Dave can't come up with any reasons why Alexa Bliss vs Eva Marie was on the show, especially since they extended their run time (despite promising the show wouldn't run over 3 hours - so people could make the Pacquiao fight) and some matches ran shorter than they should've been.
• WWE confiscated a Wyatt sign after the Big E pre-show match.
• Damien Priest is fine after his match where it looked like he injured his hip on an outside dive.
• Apparently WWE really want Rey and Dominick to feud and are trying desperately to make that happen. But apparently Rey doesn't want to feud with his son. Watch this space.
• Dave says the purpose of the Boogz/Nakamura segment was just to get the act over on a big show.
• Dave and Bryan both agreed Seth/Edge was the best match on the show.
• The actual attendance number was closer to 45,000.
• Reigns/Lesnar was originally planned for 2023 Wrestlemania. Obviously that changed. Dave thinks Reigns/Lesnar will take place in Saudi Arabia or Survivor Series, but more likely the former.
• In an amusing aside, Dave was deeply offended by the selling in the Miz/Morrison water gun segment. "Every one of us has been hit by a water gun at some point in our lives...." "Dave, I hate to tell you this, but I've been hit by a water gun before and that's exactly how I selled it". It amused me that of all the things to hate about the Miz/Morrison stuff, the selling is what upset Dave the most. Shows how conditioned by mediocre content we are with WWE that the selling was the most egregious sin they committed by putting this on PPV.
• "Bill has to be hurting" according to Dave. During his entrance, he noticed that he looked really sore.
• Dave thinks Goldberg/Lashley is for Saudi Arabia as well.
• There's no immediate plans to bring John Cena back. Dave's words were "we may not be seeing John Cena again ever as he's a movie star now". Seemed to be speculation but they don't have anything in the pipeline currently.

That’s… kinda fucking wild? Summerslam is a huge known quantity compared to AEW. They had Brock and Becky. That’s a stat more people should be talking about
