For those who don’t know, it’s trope, most common in horror movies, in which surviving characters that make it to the next installment have a high likelihood of being unceremoniously killed off quickly, sometimes off screen.
One of the most infamous examples comes the Alien franchise, particularly Alien 3, in which survivors Hicks and Newt from Aliens are gruesomely killed offscreen during the opening titles, leaving Ripley the sole survivor yet again.
This is kinda a series trope, as Dr. Shaw, the protagonist from Prometheus, is killed offscreen during the 10 year gap between that film and its’ follow up film, Alien: Covenant.
What are some other examples of this? A Nightmare on Elm Street is particularly guilty of this, killing off a surviving character in three consecutive films.

My best friends boyfriend passed away suddenly yestersay. He was 52. Was found collapsed in his home. He was on blood pressure meds and had a heart condition and was a recovering alcoholic. But, recently he was doing very well and looking at a bright future. But then this....so tonight I'm texting my son about "what's new" keeping our convo simple not to get wrapped up in his stupid comments. So I told him that her boyfriend died and she's devastated. His next comment is "well I don't know his status but you're going to see a lot of people drop dead. It's happening with the boosters. Did he have his booster? "
I didnt even bother answering. Can't people just die of natural causes anymore? A 52 year old with underlying conditions must have died from the vaccine...so frustrating and it actually makes me sad and disgusts me that he thinks like this....such a warped sense of thought.
OMG the nocebo effects are so bad, you guys. I was even starting to question whether the jab was worth it but thankfully it turns out all the crippling side effects and pain I've experienced after each dose were all in my mind, and the same goes for everyone else I know too!! Any day now I should regain the use of my legs, now that I'm aware that it was because I was expecting a bad reaction from the heckin' jab that I ended up creating one out of anxiety and sheer force of will!!
My heckin' Uncle had a really bad nocebo effect after his booster, to the point where he had a heart attack in the middle of Walgreens!! He even had an ambulance called for him and everything, how embarrassing!! All thanks to online misinformation worrying him so much and snakey social media users whispering words of doubt into his poor brain!!
We're on our way to dig up my Dad, who tragically passed away shortly after his second Pfizer jab a couple months ago - or so we thought. Perhaps that was a nocebo effect too and we actually buried him alive!! We'll have a right laugh when we dig him up and see all the desperate scratch marks on the inner lid of his coffin!! Ah, WHAT A BLOODY PALAVA.
