A list of puns related to "Strict Two Phase Locking"
I'm reading about 2PL, deadlocks and distributed systems and there's something I don't get.
In a centralized system, 2PL (or even Strict 2PL) ensures serializability but doesn't avoid by itself deadlocks, so we have to use deadlock prevention (timestamps) or detection techniques.
Does anything change in a distributed system? I don't think so: using the distributed variants of 2PL (Centralized 2PL, primary copy,...), we still have deadlocks but they can still be solved by using timestamps and whatnot. But I'm not sure about this.
Am I missing something?
Like maybe hostile fleets can't bombard or land armies while it's in the shrouded half of it's cycle?
Edit: wine le sigh
After hours of solo decorating, shopping, wrapping, and baking, I lost it on my husband last night and told him that I was sick of making a Magical Christmas ^TM for everyone else and not getting any help. I said the last thing to do was to make Christmas dinner (which is actually a Christmas Eve dinner, since weβll be at my FILs on the 25th and my MILs on the 26th, so itβs not even that high-stakes of a meal). I said he needs to steps up and make some gottam Christmas Memories for our family for once, and if he chooses not to make dinner on Christmas, then Iβm locking myself in our bedroom with a bottle of wine and the two pounds of shrimp cocktail I bought and he can deal with the out-of-their-gourds excited kids by himself the night before Santa rolls in.
We have pretty good communication, and I tend to lighten all conflict with humor, so this was said with relative good cheer. As evidenced by him bursting into laughter ten minutes ago as he remembered my promise while browsing online for recipes.
Also, today he made cut out cookies with the kids (which I hate because everything gets sticky and clean up sucks) from his late grandmaβs recipe, and supervised the construction of a new gingerbread housing development. So, I guess Iβll keep him for another Christmas. Though, Iβve decided Iβm handing out assignments for everyone to be in charge of their own thing next year.
I've only completed 2 or 3 VOGs but I've started at least 10. It happens a lot that if we don't immediately do more than half damage on the first phase, people say we wipe.
Isn't it faster to do three phases than to get to one phase, wipe and repeat?

The doctor Iβm seeing for the hcg program has basically told me not to worry so much about calories, just be mindful about portion control and do a keto diet, eat only 0 glycemic index foods, limit protein, and as much fat as I can (literally told me to put butter sauce on everything lol)
I had already been doing keto which wasnβt working too well for weight loss, but admittedly I was doing it way differently (eating tons of protein, not as much fat, probably accidentally eating more carbs than I should and definitely not watching portions too well, plus working out which just makes me super hungry and according to him, makes your body need glucose which makes it turn protein into sugar via glucogenesis which means you stop burning fat...)
So idk!!! I just havenβt ever heard of anyone doing HCG weight loss this way. Obviously this sounds much more tenable than only eating 500 calories a day and only being able to eat boiled chicken for a month lol. But the idea of losing a pound a day like many people do on the traditional protocol sounds really appealing and Iβm worried I wonβt lose as much weight as I could during my 6 week program.
I guess I mostly want personal accounts from anyone that has done it this way??
Hey! I'm working on a project to detect depression using 128 channel EEG data. I need to calculate the phase locking value between each pair of electrodes.
I tried it using MNE Python but it asks you to divide the data into epochs and trials but I just have the time series data. I need a 128*128 square matrix as the output that I can use as an input for a deep learning model.
I'd be really grateful if somebody can share a Python or Matlab code that can calculate the phase locking value for EEG time series data or help me out sort out the issue with MNE.
