I decided to buy it again.
I don't think any other hex based wargame has ever come close to capturing my attention. I've looked at, and tried, multiple alternatives but nothing ever quiet scratches that itch.
I tried to download the free version from Shrapnel Games - but it wouldn't download. Ended up buying the General edition from Slitherine/ Matrix instead which included the 4 mega campaigns at a ridiculously cheap price. Couldn't be happier.
Let the good times and the panzers roll.
Update
As an update I have now managed to buy the Slitherine Enhanced edition. This allows for full screen play which is a great addition - possibly a deal breaker. Also you can select a dynamic campaign of 200 scenarios. I'm going to be a very busy boy.
I discovered Steel Panther a while back and it's been cracking me up ever since. Simplistic, tells interesting stories, hilariously crude, actual musical talent. My favorite part is how much talent and effort goes into making such ridiculous songs sound legit. Until you hear the lyrics of course. Give em a listen. Don't be surprised if you end up very offended.
I really like the game. I have both the paid versions of WinSPW2 and MBT from Shrapnel. My problem is that I find the game to be unbearably slow. The firing animations and the time to resolve turns takes forever. I find myself getting bored watching 8 units of infantry fire from the bush.
Is there a way to speed the game up? I already have the animation delay set to 0 but it is still really slow. If I could speed up the animations even by a bit I think I would enjoy it a lot more and be able to really sink some time into it.

I have tried the Vietnam and AFG war games by slitherine and didn’t care for them.
I really loved steel panthers and SPMBT but they run terribly on new hardware. Looking for something like them just updated of it exists?
