A list of puns related to "Star Chinese Channel"
I'm dying to hear about stuff from old Disney channel stars. Especially from the 90s and early 2000s. There are so many of them I wonder about.
If you had to choose one source of knowledge which helped move your knowledge forward the most, what would you attribute that to? It can be a YouTuber, Book, App.. anything really.
Currently using Duolingo Plus, and it's a great start.. I think? Not sure what else is out there or if there are better learning tools.
Thank you!
Over the last few months, some of you may have seen the name 'Peng Shuai' in the news or trending on the front page of Reddit. Some of you may have even heard of tennis pulling out of China, and wondered 'Hey, what's all that about?'. Here is the story of Peng Shuai, and how women's tennis decided to stand up for its players.
Background: Who is Peng Shuai?
Although not widely known, Peng Shuai is a very famous doubles player from China. A multiple doubles Grand Slam winner, Peng also made the US Open singles semi-final in 2014. Over a career that has spanned two decades, she racked up an impressive 25 titles, reached a career high ranking of No. 14 in singles, and held the position of World No. 1 in doubles (becoming the first Chinese player to do so). Alongside the likes of Li Na and Zheng Jie, she is considered one of the greatest tennis players to come out of China.
In early November 2021, Peng posted a lengthy message on Weibo, where she accused China's septuagenarian former Vice Premier, Zhang Gaoli, of sexual assault. She related an incident where Zhang and his wife both invited her back to their apartment, where he essentially confined Peng to a room until she agreed to have sex with him. (Disclaimer: I cannot read Mandarin and am relying on this translation here - if there are any issues with the translation, please clarify in the comments!). In her post, she stated "That afternoon, I didn't agree and I kept crying. I was terrified and anxious. Taking into consideration the affection I had for you seven years ago, I agreed... yes, we had sex." Peng then went on to say that she and Zhang thereafter had a consensual relationship for a couple of years, with the consent and knowledge of his wife.
Peng's post was immediately scrubbed from the Internet, and searches for her name were temporarily blocked. Regardless, it spread like wildfire, with translations making their way out into other forms of social media. Peng disappeared from public view, and was not seen or heard from for several weeks, leading many to wonder if her disappearance was a result of the Chinese government or the Chinese Community Party (CCP) taking action.
Posters on social media began to raise questions about
... keep reading on reddit โกI especially enjoy Chef Wang Gang, but a lot of his dishes require a lot of oil which is not practical for home cooking.
Also I would like to diverge from Sichuan cuisine to other regions too.
Edit: Would prefer a channel aimed towards home cooking. I once followed a hot pot video of his and decided to handle chao tian jiao with my bare hands
Hi, I am an intermediate level Chinese learner (็ฎไฝ๏ผ ๅคง้๏ผๆฑๆฐด่ไธๅ) looking for listening resources on Youtube. I found quite a few good channels but they mostly seem to be (1) women, (2) southern/Taiwan accent. Are there any good channels with northern pronunciation and preferably a male host? And preferably not too fast! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Potential Leak from chinese youtube short
Someone just linked this in my chat, apparently this is true (its from this youtube short: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0NzQY_eMt88)
Honestly I donโt even know what happened there because I skipped over most of it๐
Dear all,
I am a native Chinese and have no experience in Chinese teaching before. However, I am interested in stuff like cultural differences and want to communicate with people from all over the world.
So my idea is that in each episode, my friend and I will introduce a topic in English for 5 min, and discuss it in totally Chinese for 15 min. And within a week we will add the subtitles/translation to all of our dialogue. I am thinking the form of our work to be podcast or youtube channel and hopefully we will interact with the audience by comments.
I got it this idea partially from my new year's plan and from a coincidance. It is when I surfing on youtube, I know from a youtuber that intermediate Chinese learners are looking for good content for their speaking/listening practice, and the online free resource of it seems to be limited.
And having this idea in my head, I want to know if intermediate Chinese learners are expecting this kind of content so we can move to another step and start to implement the plan.
Thank you for reading.
Happy New Year, Alectrona
Happy New Year! I'm looking to discover more Star Wars content creators that are both entertaining and fair in their content. We all know there's a lot of clickbait and rage (whether real or fake) out there and I'd prefer to spend my time interacting with content creators who legitimately enjoy Star Wars and like to talk about it rather than contribute to hate filled echochambers of nonsense. Let me know who you guys recommend!
