To mince sounds and paste them back together again.Β Effects would be nice as well? I would like to do this as the sound is playing if possible? Any ideas?

im on a bus to my hometown rn so im on rate your music and found a genre called sound collage. there are some really amazing sound collage songs i already listen to without realizing it was a genre. Side X on Red Burns by Standing On The Corner is one of the best βsongsβ ive ever heard and i think everyone should listen to it. however despite that most sound collage is just shitty. its just like an excuse to put shit together with no effort and call it a concept album. like take someone like CAN who makes super fucking amazing music, then look at their song Peking O which sounds like it samples donny from the wild thornberries. it feels dejected. it feels deranged.

Iβve been estranged from my family since 2018. It ramped up in 2016 with Trump. My parents are unrecognizable now, and I never look at childhood pictures because itβs too hard, but found a huge dump this weekend and it absolutely wrecked me.
Anyway. Iβm not an artist, but this has felt healing to do this in some way. To get it out on paper exactly how jarring it felt when my dad screamed at me to defend that quote, because Iβm still that kid. The contrast and disgustingness is exactly how i feel when I remember it
Highly recommend this to anyone going through something similar. Something about being able to pick these up when I need to then set them down when Iβm done feels healing
I know Panda Bear and Animal Collective have used elektron gear but I was wondering if anyone has made or knows of some examples of sound collage type poppy stuff on the Digitakt (or octatrack). Like person pitch style sample work. I love that type of sound and I know itβs possible on the Digitakt and wanted to hear it be used in a similar way so I can get some influence to mess around with that style of writing on my DT

Like Revolution 9 on crack? I never had much of a problem with the existence of the track. It wasnβt what I went for usually, but it was just fun and experimental enough where there was charm to the track outside of it not really being a regular song.
Liverpool Sound Collage... this is just a good time pretty much all around. Itβs exciting, spooky, and if you love any kind of house hip-hop feel, this is it man. Progressive as fuck, and just like something a DJ would be playing in the sickest rave.
We're Only In It For The Money has some really unique effects on it. Can't say I've heard some of these specific sound collage techniques before. One of the things I'm most curious about is what sounds sort of (but not really) like a spinning record with a needle dropping very rapidly on it at random intervals, creating a stutter effect. But very clean, without scratches or pops. And it sounds like the platter has a lot of inertia, like it was a heavy Flintstones record or something. It could be tape with some kind of manual control and a spring loaded Morse Code style tape head. Definitely has its own unique quality, nothing like Radiophonic Workshop, which kind of wrote the book on tape effects.
Best example would be at the beginning of Side B (Nasal Retentive Calliope Music), around 28 seconds in and throughout the track. Any idea what they used here?
