A list of puns related to "Smartcode"
Anyone know, is there one master code that works on all of them , or is the master code different for each lock? How could I go about finding out what the existing master code is so that I can delete old user codes and put new user codes in? I want to use this lock--it's so literally new that the original factory lubrication is still shiny and clear. Only thing missing is the packaging that might have the code on it.
Is there any out of the box solution so I can control my Kwikset entry lock 912 SmartCode with Z-Wave PLUS?
I want to be able to say Hey Siri unlock my front door. A new product just came out from thinka, but it is only available in Europe.
I am planning on buying the above mentioned lock after watching The Hookup's review on smart locks. I know that things have changed with the way z-wave is integrated in home assistant. I just want to know the level of functionality I can expect with going this route.
Hi everyone! This is sort of a two-part question; the main story is that we just bought a house and the previous owner could only provide one key that only fits one doorknob lock. I expected to rekey the house, but it looks like I'm going to have to replace all the locks instead. I am not a locksmith in any way but my understanding is that without a fitting key you cannot rekey a lock. In total there are five doors, each with a locking knob and deadbolt. I'd like to have a single key for all ten locks. I've spoken to several locksmiths in the area with good reputations but none of them seemed interested in the job or cannot get to it in less than a week.
A further wrinkle is that three of the doors have Kwikset SmartCode deadbolts, none of which I have physical keys for. I've been searching and researching for a few hours now but I cannot seem to get an answer on if it's possible to replace the deadbolt on these without having to replace the entire SmartCode assembly. If this is possible, does it have to be a specific type of deadbolt to mate with the SmartCode assembly, and is this something that HD/Lowes carries?
What can I expect from trying to get five doorknobs and five deadbolts all keyed the same? I understand that there are codes on the packages indicating matching keys, but I am not confident that I will be lucky enough to get five sets that match. I've heard this is a service that HD/Lowes will provide - is that correct and if so is either more reliable or proficient than the other?
I thank all of you for any help, and of course if I'm missing an easier solution I'm open to suggestions. I am not comfortable in not changing the locks or rekeying because I find it unlikely the previous owners did not have more than a single key for only a single door. We are moving in on Saturday so I need to have it solved by then if possible. I'm capable of the actual work, just not sure of what to buy.
I just purchased and installed a Ring 3 and Kwikset SmartCode 888 from the Ring website. According to their website, it sounded like I could use the lock from my Ring app. That doesnβt seem to be the case. It looks like I need to have some kind of smart home hub to even use the Smart features of the lock. Is that the case? If not, how do I connect it? Thanks!

Iβve been hunting for a couple of months for a deal on a modern looking handle set with a lock to replace my current one thatβs starting to act up. Almost pulled the trigger a couple of times on a Schlage Century set. Went to Costco recently and saw that they had a Weiser handle set with a Smartcode 10 lock for $199.99. The lock itself doesnβt support any home automation, which is the only drawback, but the price is pretty good IMO. The exterior handle is the Weiser Camino model, while the interior handle is a Weiser Halifax handle.
A Smartcode 10 typically goes for between $145 (sale) to $180 alone, while t he handle set goes for between $165 (sale) to $249 (with the regular lock included, canβt seem to buy without it). So youβre pretty much saving around $100 with this Costco kit.
The only other comparable (sort of, since itβs a lower end Smartcode model and a different handle set) is this one , which goes for almost $100 more.
Install was super easy, and now my door closes properly now lol. Always thought it was my door that was misaligned slightly, but it turns out that it was the old Schlage handle set was messed up.
While I'd like to think that I'm not behind in tech, but I'm feeling the pressure here.
I'm replacing our front door thus needing to replace hardware, but I am unsure of our best option. I understand Zigbee (what's needed for the Smartcode 916) as I have smart bulbs and such but I have no actual hub (other than using the Smart Life app) so I'm unclear if I will need more hardware. There is apparently a deal on good ole Amazon for an Echo Plus (which will act as the hub) and the Smartcode 916 but I don't know if that's the best option?
Or if I should just bite the bullet and spend the extra cash for the Halo.
My only real hangup is the overall look. The Halo does not have the look I'm going for (I know, I know) but the SmartCode does. I just don't want to choose aged hardware just because it has the look I want, you know?
I'm also unclear how I see the unlock numbers if not using the Kwikset app--- can you help me understand how I do that if we consider the Smartcode 916.
Other details:
- We have various Ring products (doorbell and floodlight) but not the alarm currently, but may be considering that later on
I'm SO confused what path to take! So, please fellow redditers, help.
I have a smartcode 10 lock by weiser which supports zigbee, and a philips hub for my hue lights. Any chance I can use the philips hub as the zigbee bridge for the door lock? If not, what bridge is suggested for the smartcode door lock?
Was wondering if anyone know whatβs the best hub for this or if itβs possible to use the WiFi without one.
I am brand new to this sub. I purchased a SmartThings Hub (v2) yesterday. I just bought a house that has Vivint installed in it. Vivint is not active and I donβt plan on activating it. However, I will be using the devices in the house (sensors, thermostat, etc).
Last night, I went to go pair my front door lock (kwikset smartcode 910 traditional) with my ST Hub. The first thing I did was successfully exclude the lock from the Vivint SkyPanel. After that, I was able to pair the lock with the ST. After it paired, I couldnβt lock/unlock the door via the ST app. I ended up having to force delete the lock from the ST app because I could not exclude it for some reason.
After I did the force delete, I tried pairing it again via the ST app but now it canβt find the lock. Iβve done a reset on the lock. Iβve also done a reset on the ST Hub. The lock still wonβt pair and Iβm not sure what do to here.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.
UPDATE* Tried again tonight after moving the ST Hub right next to the lock and still didnβt work. I then tried to remove/exclude the lock from my Vivint SkyPanel again and that did the trick. Somehow my lock re-paired with the SkyPanel without me knowing which was causing the issue. Thanks everyone.
I manage all my crypto on my laptop, don't use my phone. But I need to move Bitdegree tokens from cobinhood to a wallet so I can use them. So I decided to try ethos (really wish you would come out with a windows desktop version, long-promised but never delivered ). I have the ETHOS app installed on my android phone, but when I log in it tells me I have to validate my smartkey. step 1 is a fingerprint (no problem) but step two is enter a PIN. No idea what that PIN is and no apparent way to reset. TIA if anybody can help?
Had to update the Smartthings integration with Alexa the other day, and it seems we can no longer lock the door with Alexa ( like they removed locking on purpose, but unlock with code is still there) Really annoying. Anyone else notice or know why? I was just fully getting into the habit of making Alexa lock the door as i walked out
Do I need a hub to connect the smart Lock to when connecting to the ring alarm? Or does the base or zwave extender work for that?

I was wondering if anyone had luck pairing the Abode system to a kwikset 888. It supposedly has zwave plus but I have had no luck getting these to pair.
