βCan I ask you a question?β
Here it comes.
The question. The same bloody question that ruins all his first dates.
βSure,β Lyle said, a forced smile on his face.
βWhy do you wear an eyepatch, Lyle? Do you have a secret life of piracy I should know about,β Emily said, giggling at her own clever remark.
Lyle faked amusement, though he groaned internally. Why does everyone make a pirate joke?
βThis eyeβs cursed,β he said, pointing to it.
She studied him a moment, then laughed. βCome on, Iβm only curious.β
Lyle grimaced. βCall it a byproduct of my misspent youth. Trust me, the details arenβt really the βfirst dateβ type of thing.β
Emily flashed her mischievous grin, her eyes wild and full of imagination. βYouβve practiced that answer, havenβt you?β
Lyle hesitated, then shrugged. βOnce or twice, maybe.β
βWell, let me tell you a little secret,β she said. She looked both ways, then leaned in and whispered, βWhen I find something, or someone, I like, I donβt scare off easily.β
Lyle laughed, βSo you like me then?β
Emily raised a finger to her lips, βShh, donβt tell anyone.β
Lyle bit his lip. Maybe....maybe he didnβt have to hide this from her. In truth, the secret weighed on his heart like a whale chained to a steamboat. He wanted to keep going, to stay afloat, but every day as he burned more coal the sea-beast got a little bit stronger, a little more determined to pull him under.
βFine,β he said. He looked around. The cafe was bustling with young couples, chatting away, students on their eighth shot of expresso, and content old ladies sipping tea with their friends. βThereβs a little park down by the river some ways away. Take a walk with me, and Iβll tell you the whole story.β
βLead the way.β
He held her hand as they walked. It was truly a day of splendor; birds sang happy songs, and the sun warmed the earth like a motherβs love.
The brilliant blue sky matched the color of Emilyβs sundress, yet it paled in comparison to her. Not only did it lack the twisting array of thorny vines that made her green eyes pop like cut emeralds, but with the light glimmering off her ember hair Lyle could swear she outshone the sun.
They sat on a rock by the river, the brook babbling softly by their
... keep reading on reddit β‘This review at PC Perspective of the Intel Core i7-4790K is interesting. The peak overclock for all cores was 4.7 GHz running at 1.36v. The voltage is a bit high for my taste. The author also has a i7-4770K that hits 4.8Ghz at 1.25v which is quite rare (golden chip?).
Don't get me wrong, the stock clocks on the 4790K are great. As a comparison point, the highest I can push my 4770K is 4.3Ghz at 1.21v all-cores. I can squeeze out 4.4Ghz at 1.25v but it isn't 100% stable.
The new 4790K may have a bit of room for an overclock but we'll have to see how things go in the real-world as I am a bit skeptical of the hand-picked samples sent to review sites. For the lazy, an all-core Turbo of 4.4Ghz with a CM 212 EVO sounds like it'll be easy to do.
The reality is the "Silicon Lottery" is alive and well in this refreshed generation too. However, I believe we should consider the new TIM and clock bump a positive step. Intel has said they'll be watching sales numbers to determine the future viability of overclocking so we should applaud this move.
Ultimately, the issue is this... does a person pick a 4770K or 4790K? That's a no-brainer: 4790K.
Just my $0.02.
Youβre allowed to disagree but I got more enjoyment out of that dialogue than I did farming saints weapons. And itβs ok with me that they do a quest like this every once in a while. There are other issues glaring Destiny in the face, but this quest is an ok departure from norm IMO.
Edit: wow this blew up! Cool. Thanks for the responses. Gonna go play Jedi: Fallen OrderβI mean, GAMBIT now...
The quest for new exotic side arm Devilβs Run will arrive in just a few weeks but its exotic perks are already known:
Close the Gap: Variable trigger. Press and release to fire individual shots. Hold to charge up a high-powered, staggering laser.
Pyrogenesis: Fully charging the laser refills the magazine from reserves.
Now, as all of you who played Bungieβs Marathon trilogy back in those days will fondly remember, these perks mirror exactly those of the Zeus Class fusion pistol. It had two firing modes: It fired energy bolts with its primary trigger or could be charged to fire a larger energy bolt with its secondary trigger.
As if this wasnβt awesome enough, this sidearm appears right at the time of Marathonβs 25th birthday. It was published in December 1994 as a Mac exclusive game.
To me personally, it brings back a ton of sweet memories. I played this game over and over again on that pizzabox PowerMac I bought from my first salary. And while my friends played Doom, and later Duke Nukem, on their PC, I slipped into the role of that nameless security officer who was tasked to deal with the Pfhor invasion of the UESC Marathon. This was when I fell in love with Bungie, the unique gameplay and the mysterious worlds they created.
So yeah, happy 25th birthday Marathon and big thank you to Bungie for bringing back these sweet memories!
In his 4.5 years in Jersey, the team made no progress. Am I missing something or is this move really not that unwarranted?
Things like understanding social cues, reading body language, understanding other non verbal cues, effectively using humor, diffusing conflict, expressing yourself, etc should all be taught to kids and should be an integral part of any schools curriculum.
There are an absurd amount of fully grown adults who donβt know these basic skills and itβs a damn shame
What am I?
I play shooters like MW on my 24" 144hz monitor. But single player games I use my 43 inch 4k tv,. And it actually hold 60 fps on 4k on a gpu and CPU 5 or 6 years old. This was my first build my dad did we me. I was 25 the first time I played a gamingm PC. He's a software engineer. He thinks my PC is still good, and better than the new Consoles coming out. Maybe hes right. Any thoughts?
